Hand it over to AI - that is happening faster than most of us know. AI is the 'space age' version of the kinds of Industrial and technology automation that we've seen to date and which has erased numerous jobs over the decades.  I work in Technology for a large financial institution and the management cant move us down this road fast enough. They even had the decency to admit that it's coming for your job, eventually. I'm glad that I probably just about have enough time left in my working life to see it out.

The whole Western world is currently a bit like a snake eating itself. Those taking advantage in all walks of life are really just opportunists...which is an inherently human trait. To see an opportunity to leverage a situation and look to take advantage. Philanthropists are generally thin on the ground.

But for all the rhetoric and random YouTube videos you post Merde, what are you actually doing to change anything?

The period of history we're currently in feels like the Western World as a collective is in the midst of an identity crisis, lacking the conviction to stand up for it's long crafted way of life in the face of critique.

There is no easy fix. The root cause is not easy to address, and the things that many are calling out as 'the problems' are actually really symptoms of this loss of conviction. A one off bleeding sore needs cleaning and a plaster. When they break out all over, you have to question what is wrong with the body as a whole, and not place the focus on the symptoms that follow with bandaids alone that merely treat the symptoms.

The Western world psyche (certainly of the ruling classes) is the real issue here. Whether it's because they've lost their sense of direction, or couldn't care less as their only concern is to continue to grow their own position of power...even if this means lower down in society falls apart.

Or....maybe this is just the way it's always been. The richest in society protecting their interests...throwing out crumbs to keep the serfs off their backs, whilst treating them in whatever way keeps them in their place.

Feudal lords. The middle ages. The rich have always looked to get richer first and foremost at the expense of everyone else.

For me all the attention should be on the 1% in society, and revolution aside, there has never been a way to deal with that. Everything else is just what follows.

If you want a film that portrays this nicely...the animated Ronald Dahl classic Robin Hood does a decent job....Prince John running the show for his as his band of cling-ons own gain, with all the lower animals suffering. Except that's a kids story, where there is a saviour, a hero, and a returning compassionate king to right the wrongs. The Western World doesn't have a Robin Hood or a King Richard.

Will probably take a war to reset the needle, sadly. And even then that will just be yet another opportunity for those than can leverage it...just like COVID was.

Anyway, that my contribution to this (or at least to try and form) an actual discussion on society as a whole and the struggles of Western Culture in the 21st century. Don't blame the opportunists, but look to the real policy makers and the puppets that do their bidding. Nothing happens by accident.
