Have to say though if I was Ollie Scarles off the back of a break through season, I'd be having a few doubts.

He breaks through, sees off Emerson to become pretty much first choice, and then immediately we drop 20m off on someone in his position who is only a few months older than him.

He'd surely be thinking his pathway just got blocked?!

As said I understand he eviscerated the ludicrously over rated Saka as Senegal destroyed England at Wembley 

I don't agree with that at all. He did a good job of keeping Saka quiet, which is no mean feat, but he simply did his job and did it well. Senegal in no way 'destroyed' England. A dubious decision and a late goal made for a win for the Africans in the dying minutes, in a friendly match.

If you look at his FBRef stats, he's got very good stats going forwards, and questionable defensive skills.

In fairness, in the teams Potter got true plaudits for, he had players who were more naturally wingers playing at wingback....the likes of Solly March, Trossard etc.  First game up for us we had Summerville there. 

If that's a sign of things to come, maybe it will turn out ok?!  So heavily dependant on establishing a mobile midfield though, and no doubt despite his forward play as we saw last year, AWB will always be considered as 'playing a defender', as will this guy. 

Wingbacks (imo) should really be thought of as midfielders and not defenders, particularly modern day wingbacks.

ExWHU reporting that this week will see us step up interest in Tyler Morton and Harvey Elliott. No clue about either. 

Also that we'll be stepping up focus on signing a goalie.

Finally some traction. Assume we'll step up letting Emerson leave too.

Fair enough, he'll be playing as a wing back I suspect rather than a full back so will have cover. How much have you seen him play?

West Ham Reach Agreement for Summer Signing, Medical Next Week

West Ham United have reportedly reached a full agreement with Slavia Prague to sign Senegalese left-back El Hadji Malick Diouf.

French journalist Santi Aouna reports that the 20-year-old is headed to London next week to undergo a medical ahead of a switch to the Hammers for an undisclosed fee. He has been on the Premier League club's radar since the transfer window opened.

Diouf will become Graham Potter's second signing this summer, following Jean-Clair Todibo's loan being made permanent in a £35m deal. He's now played his last game for Slavia Prague where his stock has grown as one of Africa's most in-demand talents.

Diouf has garnered interest amid an impressive spell in Czechia, managing seven goals and four assists in 41 games across competitions last season. He offers pace and creativity on the left flank that will help Potter try and turn the tide at the London Stadium.

Aouna has confirmed that Diouf has bid farewell to his teammates ahead of his move to east London:

"Full agreement reached between West Ham and Slavia Prague for El Hadji Malick Diouf. Diouf will undergo medical next week with the Hammers. Diouf will play his last game today with Slavia Prague and say goodbye to his teammates."

Diouf is set to arrive and the Irons appear to have increased their offer for the Senegal international. They previously failed with a £17m bid but he's remained keen to make the switch.
