Summer Transfer Window 2025 | Official Thread

Post stubbo-admin »

May as well get going with this since with Sullivan at the helm, season ticket renewals slow, and the football vacuum to commence, this will soon be all the "news" there is.

Can Potter and MacCauley pull multiple rabbits out of the hat, or will Sullivan 'try really hard' with all of them before grabbing a few aging bargains from Big Willie Salthouse?

The one good thing about Ings is, he's not fucking Evan Ferguson.

He will eventually go on to prove how good he is. He didn't stand a chance when only given 151 minutes on Loan having been available to play in 12 matches for Potter. He mismanaged that opportunity once the Club managed to get him in for the manager.
I think it was clearly apparent that Ferguson was so far off the pace that he wasn't anywhere near to being in an acceptable physical condition for a loan move to be beneficial to his fitness in the short term in the first fucking place.
So much so that when he was called up to the Rep of Ireland men's Team he scores and helps them win both matches during March. 🤔

Not being a striker is weirdly what really helps Bowen in our system. he scores so many from deep and cutting in from his wing, especially when we've broken out of defence/low block situations. He creates so many of his own goals. Doesn't need service. Both Ings and Wilson need service. Wilson got great service in Newcastle, Ings got fuck all at West Ham and was often 30-40 yards from goal. It's also why Bowen didn't do as well when he had to play as the striker for us- we just don't play in a way that benefits a traditional centre forward. It's why no strikers look good playing for us. Antonio possibly the only exception but again that's all about coming from deep and using his pace and power a lot of the time rather than being any sort of clinical fox in the box.

Ings would have scored significantly more for Newcastle, and Wilson would have scored significantly less for us in the same period.

Knew where the back of the net was before joining us, scored 22 PL goals for Southampton one season and scored 6 I think for Villa the season we signed him.. Then he joined us..

He fucking well didn't last season!

We have become Barrel Scrapers FC. Maybe we should seriously think about replacing the crossed Hammers now with a pair of scrapers..

To be fair, Id take him on a one year deal strongly incentivised at 18.59 on 1st September if we haven't signed any other strikers by then.

This is probably what is going to happen so Sullivan can present him and the player as a saviour and a personal gift from his wonderful and benevolent self, moving heaven and earth to get the player in.

Before he does absolutely fuck all for us.

I'd like more ins and outs by now but I'm pleased with the players we are bing linked to. Longer term thinking seems to finally be kicking in in terms of the profiles we are looking at. I just wish we'd had this plan a year ago when we had the chance and money to properly rebuild but Lopetegui chose waste money and squad spaces on Kilman, Soler, Rodriguez and Fulkrug.

HENDO signs for Brentford. One potential bullet dodged.
If someone else could sign Ramsdale and Wilson we'll all sleep a touch easier.

Just in time to be included for the photoshoot with Callum Wilson.

Obviously needs to move as he is never getting in their team permanently

Liverpool are saying £40m for Elliot if they have a buy back clause. £50m if it’s a full transfer with no buy back
The only way he is coming to us (if he even wanted to) is if Paqueta is cleared and sold for something similar.
There is a way. It's already being discussed. It involves no buy back, we get Elliot, Morton and some cash but we lose someone..
Who?
Realistically the only player we have that could drive that kind of deal (given they value Elliott at 50m without buyback and Morton between 15 and 20m) is Bowen.
