What Watch do you Wear?

Post Sydney_Iron »

I like a nice watch😊

My current regular wear is a White Dial Omega Seamaster 300M on the black rubber strap, IMO the best-looking affordable luxury watch on the market, also have a Spring drive Grand Seiko for more formal wear that is the bollocks as well, superbly finished and just oozes quality.

Bought a Rolex Air King 126900 recently, its the most unique from the brand, the only one with the green and gold Rolex colours on the dial, the only one with no variants like the other models have, the Submariner, Date Just or Daytona's etc that have multiple variations, beautiful piece IMO that looks stunning.

What's your Watch of choice?

I have decided to engage in an act of 'Reverse Zoltaneering' by NOT listing the watches that I own.

I apologise in advance at robbing some posters of the opportunity to tell me how pointless they are, and how their Casio/Timex/phone/kitchen clock tells them the time perfectly well.

the Apple Watch. It monitors my workouts, my sleep, my overall health.

Gives me all the details on hiking trails and biking trails.

Plus it’s a back up for when my battery dies on my phone. It’s $10 per month for the service with AT&T.

plus all the other functions that come with it.

I had a stainless steel Submariner not the best at keeping accurate time to be honest but it looked good. Sold it for a small profit a couple of years back during Covid.
Plus it needs charging every 24 hours…

My Garmin only charging every 16 days
Garmin are superior to Apple in every way.

I'll do this for you for nothing mate. It's a hobby of mine. Obviously I'm not insured so if you want me to do it in front of you, that's fine. I can give it a basic service at the same time.

Thanks thats very good of you. Im not in England, i have some friends here who have similar watches - Tag's - and had theirs done recently by their local jeweller - v reasonable. So i'll take it in next time i visit them. But yes i've prob spent as much on batteries and service sending it to Tag (who keep it for months) than the watch cost.

No worries mate, any quartz movement is very easy to work on as it has no traditional complications, so any decent jeweller can do this for you, find the cheapest one who doesn't look like a cowboy. I have all the tools and it cost me less than 3 ton, if your guy has his own fully-equipped workshop it'll be fine.

People who scoff at the money people spend on a watch will think nothing of giving a mobile phone company £60+ a month just to have the latest phone which will be worthless in a few years.

I’d rather have a lovely looking timepiece with a beautiful movement as opposed to a device which just dumbs down society.

You can spot the peasants a mile off on here.

Yep, got more chance of being plunged to death than pulling any gold digger these days. I'll have 1 of those snazzy cheapo Casio watches too please..

Weekday work watch is a 30 year old Rotary divers watch with a stainless steel strap and black face.
I like the older style normal face size and thiness.
Don't like the oversized flashy mens watches which have become the norm.
Was a present from my Dad so it has a lot of sentimental value too.

For special occassions I have a Tissot 1853 which is about 7 years old now.

The two are pobably only worth £500 combined but love them both.
Not sure if the Rotary is worth more than the £120 it cost in 1995?

Was also given my father in law's Seiko Kinetic when he died but gave it to my wife to keep as I didn't feel right wearing it and it was also a bit big & heavy for my wrist.

You'd definitely be safe in London.

being digitally excluded smart-phone/tablet wise, I invested in a watch, nothing special, a Tissot PRC200 Chronograph (it's battery powered), it's reliable & very robust.

I also have another watch that was given as a present, a Zenith time/date gold watch with a white face & black leather strap. I had it serviced by Zenith 15 years ago (it's about 42years old), the jeweler offered me £1k+ plus for it, apparently the flywheel is the same as the one in the Rolex Daytona, the sentimental value outweighed the dosh, still don't know what model or the value is, to be honest I have no interest, it's just a nice, simple looking watch (bit like a Timex).
