This Moyes Media Love-In

Post Hammer and Pickle »

"Think this requires a thread of its own it’s so absurd. Yesterday, when we showed a response to going one down, the commentary team couldn’t mention West Ham without saying his name. But that changed as soon as Toon got handed the game and took over. And as far as I know, nobody in the media has called him to account for the implosion either. He’s clearly being shielded; but why? Please lock if you feel this belongs in the Moyes Out thread."

Jonathan Pearce last night on MOTD. Some West Ham fans are not happy with David Moyes which I find very strange... Jonathan that's because you're a cսnt.

"The media much prefer foreign owners that are despots, drug smugglers, murderers, property developers or criminals to a couple of two-bob, home grown porn merchants. So they hate Sullivan (and Gold R.I.P.) and ignore the huge amounts of money spent on transfers. The media NEVER mention this. If you ignore the vast sums spent it's easy to pretend Moyes is doing a competent job."

"The prevailing consensus, at least among the match commentary teams, is that West Ham are performing very well given our status as a club that hasn't won anything since 1980 other than last year's Europa Conference League Cup. Therefore any criticism of Moyes is both unjustified and unrealistic. So the question is: when does that consensus break down given how Moyes has overseen a series of defensive collapses in the Premier League this season? Is it even open to question given it requires basic analysis of a manager's decision-making and players' responses? Maybe this is just deemed too much for a TV audience supposed to accept a diet of lazy stereotypes and mostly inane waffle?"

"I agree it’s incred one sided in terms of Media attitude towards Moyes. We don’t see this sympathy for foreign managers (should have been uproar when Ranieri was sacked shortly after winning the Prem with Leicester) nor with the top 6 when managers are underperforming. Is Ten Hag giving such understanding and told ‘give him time’ or he’s the best they can get. Garragher has said after the NFC debacle we should stick with DM as he doesn’t see any other club taking us further? It’s laughable. You could randomly pick 5 managers from outside the top 6 of the League and all of them would at least keep us mid table and I’m sure the majority if not all would play better football . Same old spiel… comfortably in top half (7th but realistically finishing 9th or below) and in Europe.. again that could change after Leverkuson. So why don’t they ask the question, is a 10th spot finish with NO european football and an unappealing style of play after spending X million a food season for Moyes to juatify keeping him? That following a season where we finished 14th & may well have sacked him had he not won the final of the Europa League Conf."

"i know robbie savage is a wind up artist but i had to mute a 5-0 european thumping because of this shite. they act like our attacking players are somehow being elevated by his abilities, that when kudus sojourns through half of that team it's a moment of david moyes brilliance, but then when we piss away a commanding lead or capitulate from the kick off like against the goon, then the players really need to take responsibility. it's obscene."

What is confusing is why not a single one of the Moyes fans in the media are linking him to a big job such as the Liverpool job that is coming up. Seems a shoe in based on their narrative

"""Every media person has an agenda due to their loyalties"" Well that true to an extent! We all have our own loyalties and club we support and of course our opinion but im not sure it runs to wanting Moyes to stay at West Ham for unspecified reasons....LOL. But if so what are these reasons???? TBH though i post on another forum that has a lot of Liverpool and Arsenal fans in particular and they belly ache in the same manner that the media, PL, Referees etc etc have some kind of agenda, should of heard the scouse after that Spurs game!!! LOL it wasn't a VAR cock up it was a conspiracy to stop Liverpool, then the Arsenal fans just as bad, the media hate them blah blah blah...............As are some West Ham fans!!!"

"Those media types who support Moyes have no interest in West Ham being successful and like the idea of us bumping along as no threat I'd prefer to listen to people who watch us every week and want us to succeed instead of being hobbled by dismal Dave and his negative mindset We can be so much better We handed the game back to Villa with a negative mindset and then do it again against Newcastle Anyone who thinks Moyes is changing his footballing DNA after 1,000 games is kidding themselves. Lets move forward in 2024/25"

"When you say ""shielded"", do you mean a fair few ex-pros on MoTD haven't properly laid into him, or he's got proper shielding, courtesy of BBC hob knobs, similar to the bird in the arcade game Phoenix, when you pressed the 'shield' button? Mind you, even that only lasted for a few seconds."

“He’s clearly being shielded; but why?” You fucking idiot. He’s not being shielded by anyone. Plenty had a pop yesterday - including motd - and loads had a pop when we got humped by Arsenal etc etc. Maybe the media have an easier time looking at something objectively?
