Summer Transfer Window 2025 | Official Thread

Post stubbo-admin »

May as well get going with this since with Sullivan at the helm, season ticket renewals slow, and the football vacuum to commence, this will soon be all the "news" there is.

Can Potter and MacCauley pull multiple rabbits out of the hat, or will Sullivan 'try really hard' with all of them before grabbing a few aging bargains from Big Willie Salthouse?

Hopefully Summerville will add some pace
Good to see he is back training with the team
Wont be going on the US tour but reckons he will be ready to play after that
Was originally said to not be back at all til mid September after foolishly delaying surgery

..."we need a leader"...

Great point. As good a captain & player as Bowen is, he's not a leader.

We need someone all the players respect who is not reluctant to bollock team mates for fuck-ups and then praise them in the next breath.

No aggression, 100% straight assertion.

It also needs to be somebody no further forward than defensive midfield so that most of the game is in front of them, most of the time.

What we need is 2 centre mids and 2 strikers. Simple as that

Yet all the rumours are around grealish and Elliott etc and other wingers. Very concerning to read but not surprised. An absolute mish mash of a squad with no balance at all.

Also all of our centre backs are utter shit. Yes you can play 3/5 at the back. But we do not have a single good centre back. Aguerd doesnt want to be here and he is atrocious

Its possible Sullivan will be unzipping to get Grealish, a maverick, past his best, player from a big club for a 10 million loan rather than Potter and Macaulay’s choice of Fernandez for a fee of £20 million from Southampton who is a real team player, quick, defensive midfielder who presses and defends well, carries the ball and also looks to attack. Sullivan typically prioritises short term razzle dazzle ( no pun intended ) for season ticket demand over longer term squad and team strengthening based around getting the right profile players for the tactics and system the manager prefers?

I have to say I never thought there would come a day when West Ham would have three players with double barrelled names.
Actually 4. JCT, AWB, JWP & KWP.
Gonna be confusing.

I don't normally like mentioning the death of other team players but RIP Wyn Davies the Newcastle legend who formed a deadly partnership with Pop Robson.

Known as the Mighty Wyn or Wyn the Leap.

Eerie Decent" wrote: 18 Jul 2025, 12:16 How many times have you seen that Martinez play, Russ?

I'm going to guess as many times as Sir Alf & eusebiovic.

I am a huge Deportivo La Coruña fan due to the fact I am also half-Spanish. I've watched a lot of their football over the years and I pretty much know in advance these days if I think a player from Spain will be able to easily adapt here or not. Maybe, Sullivan can employ me but that would mean getting value for money which he seems to be allergic to doing.

From what I've seen of the Arnau chap he always looks accomplished in what he does - good tackling, good passing and he has decent pace. More often than not he can cover the ground if caught on the counter attack which is a pretty important trait to have in the premiership.

He is not too shabby at all - not world class but slightly better than a bang average steady Eddie.

My tuppence worth.

We really need to sort our CB’s though, as that was the reason our defence let in so many goals. If Kilman continues to be a regular, nothing will change.

Kilman, Aguerd, Todibo & Mavropanos.

About £130mil worth of centre back there, and I'd sooner have Dawson than all 4.

We let in even more goals in the season before, when Kilman wasn't here. Can't blame it all on one player. The midfield have to take some responsibility as well as the CB's.
