Can Potter and MacCauley pull multiple rabbits out of the hat, or will Sullivan 'try really hard' with all of them before grabbing a few aging bargains from Big Willie Salthouse?

In an interview on the official site back in March, Summerville said that "our coach [Graham Potter] wants me to be more of a left winger and be the best one-on-one player".

So unless he's changed his mind again it suggests that Potter wants to play a 343 wide formation. Personally I don't like it as it often ends up being a very defensive 541, with the striker isolated and a weak central midfield. I'd prefer a 352 or even the 343 box formation with two CAMs behind the striker. Anyway, I guess we'll get a better idea from the upcoming friendlies.

The two latter ones don't really have a place for him do they unless of course he's played out of position like Bowen and Kudus were a lot of the time, both looking poor while they were.

I think Grealish is a talented player but needs to get away from Peps straitjacket tactics & play somewhere where he can play in his creative Villa role 
If he is on £300k a week City would have to pay two thirds of his wages so isn’t happening 

Id be more interested in young hungry player like Mateus Fernandes (JWP in part exchange?) or the Leicester player El Khannouss (£22.5k buyout I read)

I said earlier I’m not interested in signing famous PL players like Grealish etc
and I dont think he’d come here anyway unless we doubled his salary or something.

However, for Villa didnt he play anywhere across midfield in a more free role? It looks to me that he could play that combative CAM role pretty well. I think the whole winger thing has been detrimental to his overall game.

With KWP signing completing this weekend, that is some much added pace to the back line with Diouf as well, defence nearly sorted for Potter, I would imagine.

On to midfield now with Elliott, Morton, Fernandes and the Leics player linked, not to mention Jack Grealish and Luiz. Guido and Irving to leave I would imagine, possibly Alvarez if we get to keep Paq and we also have Potts and Earthy to look at.

Its possible Sullivan will be unzipping to get Grealish, a maverick, past his best, player from a big club for a 10 million loan rather than Potter and Macaulay’s choice of Fernandez for a fee of £20 million from Southampton who is a real team player, quick, defensive midfielder who presses and defends well, carries the ball and also looks to attack. Sullivan typically prioritises short term razzle dazzle ( no pun intended ) for season ticket demand over longer term squad and team strengthening based around getting the right profile players for the tactics and system the manager prefers?
