Summer Transfer Window 2025 | Official Thread

Post stubbo-admin »

May as well get going with this since with Sullivan at the helm, season ticket renewals slow, and the football vacuum to commence, this will soon be all the "news" there is.

Can Potter and MacCauley pull multiple rabbits out of the hat, or will Sullivan 'try really hard' with all of them before grabbing a few aging bargains from Big Willie Salthouse?

Believe it or not but Cock Piss has told Sullivan he'll send him to train with the PL2 team from day one if Sullivan signs him. That's been his position since June.

Sullivan is happy to call his bluff. Walker-Peters was meant to be the compromise but it's seems it's emboldened the dwarf.

There's a reason it's happening now when Cock Piss is gone.
Just out of interest, how do you purport to know all this information?

I don't purport at all, that would imply falsehood.
OK, semantics. 'How do you know this?'

Then he'd better be prepared for a row with Wilson then who will be looking to play. He's made that perfectly clear. And Potter would shrivel up like a little bitch caving in once he stuck it on him.
Nah I don't buy that scenario. The idea that a second rate player would try and manage to bully and threaten the manager into playing him is just silly as is the idea Potter would cave in. Won't happen. He'd never have made it past lower league management if that was the case. If Wilson is starting games ahead of Fullkrug I might believe it, but it just isn't going to happen. All the players are looking to play every game. Wilson is no exception. If Sullivan and Salthouse miss-sell the situation to him then that's nothing to do with the manager and his ire is with them. You don't even sign a top player and guarantee him starts, let alone a clapped out old reject you don't even want.

That's not quite what I mean, like he'll demand to play the majority of the time and at Fullkrugs expense. However he is on record as saying he does expect a fair fight to get decent playing time and wouldn't be coming just to pick up his money. He certainly isn't going to accept not being played as you suggested by Potter. That's when I could see that scenario becoming a real problem for Potter and could well imagine Wilson sticking it on him at some point if persistently overlooked, or given pointless couple of minutes here and there.

If Wilson sticks one on a manager who already doesn't want to play him, it won't help him. It'll be the excuse needed to get him out the door. In a fair fight, Fullkrug will win every single time and Wilson will have to accept that. I could understand him getting the arse if Fullkrug, Marshall and Bowen are all out and he's still not getting picked up front but he's got to be a professional and deal with that if the manager doesn't believe he gives us the best chance of winning. Hopefully the guy will spend 90% of the season unavailable anyway therefore costing us the least amount of money and unable to get on to the pitch.

I think Potter just isn't going to play him. He'll leave him on the bench in favour of playing Marshall or others out of position up front, should Fullkrug not be available. He can even argue he's saving the club money by doing so. It's sort of checkmate for Sullivan then.

If a revolving squad of journeymen, served up by his agents/mates, give him continuing PL status, that will be his "strategy" & business plan.
What's infuriating is there seems to be very little money to invest in players who could serve us long term this summer, but you know come January if we are in trouble, then a stash will be found behind the back of the sofa to spend on some overpriced, over the hill stop gap signings to try and get us out of it. Probably on three year contracts, where they hang around like a bad smell on the bench for most of it, preventing us from financially and player wise from moving on. Just a vicious cycle of short sighted failure.

How many times before have we been here though hoping for that to be the case down the years? Then up pops yet another cheap desperate old Transfer Striker Mido, Keane, McCarthy, Nene, Franco, Cole, Jelavic, Perez, Ings and so on. 😅

The only surprise would be if Wilson now doesn't sign as it has Sullivan’s mucky prints all over it.

Weirdly I was thinking this felt like Benny McCarthy parallels. A player we could all patently see was shit and past it and wouldn't do a thing for us. I think it'll be just as disastrous as well. I remember Allardyce as Blackburn manager at the time openly laughing in the media at the time about the fact he was able to offload him for a fee. 7 million quid wasn't it? Which was decent money then. We ended up paying him to fuck off. Who was his agent? Actually who was Jordan Hugill's agent and all?

I have a feeling this will be about as successful as both of those.

The fact the whole thing started to gain momentum as soon as Cock Piss left the country tells you EVERYTHING you need to know here.

Another " surprise"  could land while he's away as well.

I don't see how this could be anything else, either. I'm surprised the other owners don't have some serious questions about how Sullivan runs this club. I know Gold used to just turn a blind eye and back him with his shareholding, but unless there's some sort of formal agreement with the Gold children that this must continue and there's nothing that can be done to change it, I just can't understand why they and Kretinsky just let this happen right under their noses seen as this is devaluing their massive investment.

Yep, 26 career goals when he's 25 next season doesn't quite scream prolific or anything of the sort. So brace yourselves for a £55M 5 year deal..
