For more than a decade, Britannia Hotelsearned a dubious distinction. In annual surveys by consumer group Which?, it repeatedly emerged as the UK’s worst hotel chain. In 2023, it achieved this honour for the 11th year running, with complaints ranging from cleanliness and room quality to customer service issues.Yet the man behind the business hasn’t done too badly. Alex Langsam, who founded the chain nearly 40 years ago and remains its chief executive to this day, was estimated to be worth £401m in this year’s Sunday Times Rich List. The 87-year-old’s wealth has been bolstered in recent years by the Government’s use of his hotels to accommodate asylum seekers via lucrative taxpayer-funded contracts. In fact, his empire of more than 60 sites has become so well-known as a go-to chain for migrant accommodation that Langsam himself has been dubbed the “asylum king”.

Russia is a big loser on energy.

Whats not to like!

Why would Russia be the big loser when the EU have already sanctioned Russian fossil fuels.

Russia is now less than 5% of EU energy. They’ve already lost on that front.

You’re next Mercedes will cost more. Deffo “winning”.
No, although I like Mercedes my next car will be a pick up truck, one made in the USA, so no Tariffs, that will probably be my last car. I’m 59 in November. So I’ll keep my Mercedes for a couple more years before I buy the truck, once my kids are out of college.
Looking to retire lake side, couple of Dogs, Miniature Donkey, a couple of goats, chicken run, a boat for fishing, that sounds like a nice way to see out my days.

So this deal ensures that the west continues to step on the Russians throats for energy, good news! At least the EU won’t be funding the Russian war machine any longer. It’s about fucking time!

How about you?
They stopped funding it a couple of years ago, keep up.

how about me what?

Amazes me that the government appears able to find the cash to pay for all these hotel rooms (the hotel companies are surely not giving their rooms away gratis) to house migrants that have come here illegally, yet we seemingly have no funds available to assist our homeless veterans.
This country is truly and absolutely fucked.

Hold up, hold up hold up!

Did Trump just secure yet another trade deal? This time with the EU?

Looks like the EU will be buying a lot of US energy and the tariffs will cancel out the Tariffs that the EU has been charging the USA for years.

Poor old Goose, he must be devastated.

This subject has been done to death, but which laws is it running roughshod over?
I don't even have to look in to it in depth as it shouldn't exist at all. There should be only 1 Law in this land and that's British Law.
Then you’ll be thrilled to know that there is only 1 law and that’s British law.
For now. We can all see what comes next.
