Summer Transfer Window 2025 | Official Thread

Post stubbo-admin »

May as well get going with this since with Sullivan at the helm, season ticket renewals slow, and the football vacuum to commence, this will soon be all the "news" there is.

Can Potter and MacCauley pull multiple rabbits out of the hat, or will Sullivan 'try really hard' with all of them before grabbing a few aging bargains from Big Willie Salthouse?

We’ve been linked to over 300 players this summer, it’s purely click bait.

Things will happen, it’s just waiting for the initial spark and then the fire starts.

Was reading that Mateus Fernandes of Southampton (& his agent) prefers a move to Europe
We seem to be going around the houses with midfielders & keepers. Lots of names mentioned , no movement

He’s had quite a few injuries for a keeper, which is a bit worrying. At 29, he’s played a handful of games with only one full season.

Some nonsense about clubs offering £30m for Paqueta
That the going rate for a first choice Brazilian international at his peak?
Needs to stay & pay us back for the last two seasons

Elliot is a good player but too expensive & not sure positionally he is what we need.
Liverpool should be offering him in part exchange for Isak
We need a box to box midfielder who can win the ball plus another with some creativity (Fernandes from Southampton? El Khannous from Leicester?)

Unless City offer 70m think we should keep Paq this season and see how he plays without the FA monkey on his back

Lyon in for Morton. 15m. The talks of him and Elliot soon dried up quick!

If we got 85m for him from Man City, I'd be happy him. He deserves a bigger club and the freedom to play in a good footballing side. Sadly even if we got 150m for him I don't think we'd spend it well and ever be better off, so I hope he stays.

this could be disastrous
we’ve spent a third of the kudus money and can’t seem to sign anyone else so there’s absolutely no point in trying to bring in anymore money
No doubt in my mind Sullivan would try to replace him with a has been like Grealish
If we sell the second of our best 3 players it’s gonna be curtains
They’ve just signed Reijnders, I don’t see them wanting Paqueta as well.
I hope not
There’s a few articles out there now saying they’ve made it clear they’re still interested in him

Very true, it's been a good pre-season overall so far in that respect. Generally happy with what I've seen. 👍
Still plenty of time for Sullivan to fuck it up by cutting corners or going rogue in the transfer market.

And I don't blame them. Afterall, it's only what GSB did themselves when a Club is at rock bottom, so takes one to know one.

As expected with Sullivan back in charge of recruitment ( because its him calling the shots ultimately) we are 2 weeks away from a new season and the mess,  he alone created by insisting against all advice to appoint Lopetegui, has still not been rectified. The problems that emerged 18 months into the Moyes era, like lack of central midfield pace and energy, still not addressed.

Sullivan’s narcissism prevents him being unable to learn, listen and even be aware if his own failings. He is not even willing to learn. Only concessions he gives are after being forced to by other board members ( e.g. Steidten as a DOF ) but he half inplements it in a confused fashion, where recruitment ends up being shared between Steidten, Loppy and Sullivan himself, almost as if he us trying to undermine ir sabotage any changes from day one.

You gotta hand it to Sully he is a serial failure with improving the club he controls and yet, at the same time, relentless in repeating the same mistakes and being unable to learn anything.

The 1st two are almost exclusively left side, Elanga I personally have only seen operate from the left and none offer Bowen's G&A numbers. They know they're unlikely to replace Isak's output with another striker so the sensible plan is add goals to the team.

Wilson signing is on Talksport too.
If it's just for a year we could do worse for a back up and would rather him than Antonio.
Stop making excuses for the dwarf...

It's a shit deal...only a fucking gutless invertebrate would suggest that signing Wilson is a reasonably good idea that provides value for money 🙄

It doesn't - not even on pay as you go!
