West Ham approach rejected – Hammers told €30m needed to start negotiations
By Naveen Ullal
West Ham United have Parma goalkeeper Zion Suzuki in their target list for this summer.
This has been reported elsewhere and Tuttosport, relayed by Parma Live, now provide the latest on West Ham interest.
Graham Potter has Alphonse Areola, Wes Foderingham and Krisztián Hegyi as the three goalkeepers at West Ham.
The 22-year-old Hungarian lack sufficient experience at the highest level. Foderingham is sidelined with an injury since February, leaving Areola as currently the only recognised stopper at West Ham. They are likely to strengthen that position in this window.
Tuttosport reports the London club have made an initial approach for Suzuki, but Parma have rejected it.
The Japan international’s contract is until 2029 and is a key player for the Italian club, for present and the future.
That doesn’t mean the Serie A club would be completely against a sale. The report states they value him at €30m and this is the figure needed to get to the negotiating table.
West Ham are told the conditions needed to open discussions with Parma, who will have to make a decision if there’s an offer well above €30m.
Suzuki kept eight clean sheets and conceded 53 goals from 37 games last season.
West Ham are also being linked to Botafogo goalkeeper John Victor, with reports in Brazil indicating a transfer is progressing.

Swansea City eye loan move for West Ham United starlet
The Swans are believed to be keen on the 20-year-old as they bid to remedy their defensive injury crisis
Swansea City are keen on taking West Ham United youngster Kaelan Casey on loan, sources have told WalesOnline.
The 20-year-old is a highly-rated prospect in east London, having made his Premier League debut in May 2024.
He was part of several Premier League matchday squads last season, even making a late appearance off the bench against Bournemouth, and is currently with the rest of the squad for the tour of the United States.
He now looks set to be shipped out on loan for the upcoming campaign, with Swansea seriously exploring the possibility of a move to south Wales.
Injuries to Ben Cabango and Ricardo Santos mean Cameron Burgess is currently the only recognised senior centre-back at Alan Sheehan's disposal ahead of next weekend's curtain-raiser, and reinforcements have become a serious priority in this window.
Should Casey make the move to the Swans, he'd be doing so with the seal of approval from a former City boss.
Speaking about his talents back in January, Hammers manager Graham Potter said: "He's been training with us. He's done well.
"Obviously, we haven't had too many full training sessions, so I can't give you a full assessment of him.
"But in the training sessions that we've had, he's trained well, he's done well.
"It's a big step, obviously, into the Premier League. But again, he's someone that is well thought of.
"He's trained well, he conducts himself well, he wants to learn, he wants to improve. So he's an option."
Current Swans boss Sheehan would certainly welcome fresh defensive cover ahead of next weekend's trip to Middlesbrough, and admits he's hopeful of bringing some new faces in the coming days. Sign up to the Swansea City WhatsApp service to get breaking news and top stories sent to your phone.
Asked if there were likely to be further arrivals before his side journey to Teesside he said: "All going well, yeah.
"We're in talks with players. But we're not just going to sign anyone. They've got to be the right fit for the football club in order to make us better.
"We've done good quality signings so far and there may be a couple more before the end of the window, but I've no idea really on timescale."
The club are also working on possible attacking reinforcements, with Wycombe Wanderers striker Richard Kone the subject of keen interest, with Swansea already having two bids knocked back.
