Summer Transfer Window 2025 | Official Thread

Post stubbo-admin »

May as well get going with this since with Sullivan at the helm, season ticket renewals slow, and the football vacuum to commence, this will soon be all the "news" there is.

Can Potter and MacCauley pull multiple rabbits out of the hat, or will Sullivan 'try really hard' with all of them before grabbing a few aging bargains from Big Willie Salthouse?

Not many, but some people just throw away comments like "sell JWP, Rodriguez and Alvarez", as though that's an easy thing to do.

Believe me - it really isn't. Almost no other club will pay those guys the wages that they're on at West Ham. And they're on multi-year deals, with some of them closing in on their vintage football years. Like Ings (who some people thought we could easily offload), some of them will have an interest in seeing out their whopping contracts first - and then moving to wherever they want for whatever they can get. Ward-Prowse*, for example, is 31 in November and under contract until 2027. He would really need to be convinced to give up his generous contract to go and play for a lot less, possibly in a lower division, elsewhere.

Moving on those sorts of players is hard. We have to do better as a club to avoid overpaying for them in the first place. A lesson we never seem to learn.

*Ward-Prowse is not the worst player that we have in this sort of position, either. We've ended up with a lot of squad fodder on big wages.

This.

It's so much easier and financially prudent to change the manager and see if you can get a tune out of a bunch of players than to expect every new manager to get their own full squad and bomb out loads of players. It never understand the mentality. You could go to any job and find a bunch of low performers but your never going to just get rid of tons of them and tell your boss, yeah, well I'm doing shit because half my staff are shit. Why expect that from football?

There's also the fact that these guys have been kicking balls around a pitch every other day since they were 7yrs old. Played thousands of matches etc. I really think 95% of footballers see it as a job and if all they have to do is come in to training 3 times a week and be available for selection to pick up 80k a week, yes please!

I dont think they are as bothered as we think they should be tbh.

Only one poster has said that by the looks of it, and it's Barty, who as charming as he is, bless him, is prone to a wild transfer post.

Soucek is one we could sell. Fingers crossed.

Everyone was fuming that we were apparently going to sign the Brazilian, shocking we'd choose the cheap option over Hermansen, now we're signing Hermansen, we're cunts because a few Youtubers looking for clicks are saying we have treated him badly.

None of you planks know what actually happened. The only thing we know is that Hermansen is signing, which overall is a massive upgrade in the keeper department. I don't like our owner, but some of you cunts will moan about absolutely anything, it's pathetic.

None of us were in the room, but this is a direct quote from the Botafogo manager on Wednesday night:

Speaking to SportTV before Wednesday night’s Copa do Brasil clash against Red Bull Bragantino, Ancelotti confirmed that John’s situation was clear within the squad and that his absence from the matchday list was no surprise.“The situation with John was already clear to us yesterday,” the manager said. “I spoke to him and thanked him for everything he did for the club. His substitute is ready, and we’re happy to have him.”

So the player had said his goodbyes as confirmed by the manager yet 24hrs later the deal is off? The party line coming out of Victor's camp is that he changed his mind. Seems a bit odd to change your mind after you've said your goodbyes? makes him look a bit fucking stupid right? So what made him change his mind? I've read reports today now suggesting that West Ham cut the wages being offered at the last minute, one report claims this was as much as a 50% cut which didn't go down well with player and his agent.

Seeing as Sullivan has a lot of form for this type of shithousery, moving the goalposts at the last minute, as confirmed publicly many times by senior people at other clubs, it's not a huge leap of an assumption to think that this might actually be true and Sullivan fucked this up at the 11th hour either deliberately or because he cant fucking help himself!

As for whether or not we've made the right choice going for Hermansen, only time will tell but neither are worth getting that excited or that pissed off over.

I don't give a fuck, to be honest.

It's turned out good for West Ham. That's all I'm bothered about. I'm sure the lad will survive.

At least 90% of Europe can't afford Premiership wages.

Apart from one of the big three Turkish clubs giving it the old razzle dazzle that leaves Saudi Arabia or the Yanks who only push the boat out for top quality in their dotage

Which is a category that none of our overpriced, bang average water carriers fall into...
Dithering Dave will put a bid in for Potato Tommy near deadline day. As for the others. We are going to have to take the hit. Or carry the weight. It ain't going to be pretty in middle of the park. That's for sure.

Poor bastards, he is absolutely SHIT. Zero redeeming features to his game. I hated watching him play for us.

Chelsea game/mishit aside, I suppose, which I somehow managed to stream (intermittently) on BT via BA’s wifi and a VPN flying back from my honeymoon on the Maldives

Hermansen, Todibo, Kilman, Aguerd, Bissaka, Diouf, Alvarez, JWP, Paqueta, Fullkrug, Bowen, Areola, KWP, Mavrapanos, Scarles, Guilherme, Soucek, Potts, Earthy, Orford, Summerwille, Wilson, Marshall

Sell: Rodriguez, Irving, Cornet, Emerson.

Scarles, Diouf, Guilherme, Earthy, Marshall and Orford are U 21's and don't need to be registered as part of the 25 men squad. That means we have space for 5 more to fill Potters preferred 22 men squad.

Charlie Cresswell, Mateus Fernandes and a high potential youngster as a striker signing (Idrissa Gueye?) would make our squad very capable.

We can have 2 late loans at the end of the window for unregistered players at the best clubs.

I'm optimistic.

Come on Sullivan and Kretinsky let's do this PROPERLY!!!!

Nobody is really moaning are they, purely observations, whether accurate or not. It’s a discussion forum.
