When we bought are first flat our in 1973  our next door neighour was Freddie Williams. I knew he was a darts enthusiast but it wasn't until seven years later after we had moved that I realised he was more than just a fan when he appeared on TV as the caller at the first televised maximum.

Yes thanks.  Best perormance ever in a competition so was delighted.  3rd out of 20.  33pts off a course handicap of 10.  14 over but with a bloody 4 over 8 on the first.  Smacked a 6 iron to the green, it crashed into the marker post in the middle of the fairway and landed back at my feet.  Couldn't do that again if I tried!  😂
