Summer Transfer Window 2025 | Official Thread

Post stubbo-admin »

May as well get going with this since with Sullivan at the helm, season ticket renewals slow, and the football vacuum to commence, this will soon be all the "news" there is.

Can Potter and MacCauley pull multiple rabbits out of the hat, or will Sullivan 'try really hard' with all of them before grabbing a few aging bargains from Big Willie Salthouse?

FFS, our club is run by utter amateurs, for example:

Forest - Capacity 30,455. Promoted 2022. 4 Points deduction for breaching PSR in 2024
Sell Elanga for £55m
Buy 2 England U-21 Internationals in James McAtee and Omari Hutchinson for combined £67.5m

West Ham - Capacity 62,500. Promoted 2012. Winners of European Conference League.
Sell Kudus for £55m
Get 2 free transfers in Callum Wilson and Kyle Walker Peters.

Oh, and by the way how does a newly promoted side like Sunderland spend £150m+ on new players.

Mcatee is a big miss imo. Especially at them levels.

last year we loaned JWP to Forest as deemed we were above them and he was surplus.

hes now our vice captain and Forest have leap frogged us in terms of quality and being seen as an attractive destination.

A lot changes in football after just a year.
What is it about McAtee you think we have missed out on?

He is a slow left winger. Exactly what we don't need.
Why ask for my opinion if you're going to give yours as if its a statement of fact?

Even putting writing in bold. Weirdo.

Everton- another horrifically run club just like us. Two big fat bloated corpses face down in the mud being stepped over by the three B's, Palace, Forest, Fulham, Villa. To be grouped with them in a situation like this is sickening. Both clubs have been run appallingly to have this happen, given their size and resource.

Only difference is they've just built a really good new stadium which could be the first step to lead to them climbing out the other side of the pit we are both in before too long.

That's all well and good...but whatever the myriad of ways he made his money to enable him to be successful at business I don't begrudge him at all. He can buy as many bespoke, self designed white Italian leather sofas as he wants...even if they do still end up looking like something from The Land of Leather. He's earnt the right to spend his money how he wants. Nobody with a semi functioning brain is disputing the fact.

Conventional business sense has very little to do with unconventional football business sense and it's very clear that the ability to do one very successfully doesn't mean the other will follow suit.

He ain't putting any of his own money into WH he is loading the club with unsustainable debt which will require an Abramovich or Sheikh Mansour type to write it off should that ever happen. So he ain't stupid in that sense. Which is why I refer to the football side of the operation as the Kenneth Bates school of economic science. He's relying on somebody else to clear the tab.

There's no excuse for the football recruitment side of the operation to still resemble St.Andrews circa 1993 though.
That can clearly be  MASSIVELY improved upon.

It's really not asking for too much at this stage FFS 🤦🏻

I can't wait till he no longer runs this club. But from his point of view, from a business perspective, he's absolutely smashed it again. That's just the reality.

Jean-Luc Paul Goddard" wrote: 15 Aug 2025, 05:51 You've got a point, but let's face it, if right now we were at -£125m net spend like Bournemouth or even -£5m like Brentford then people would be going apeshit and accusing Sullivan of pocketing the money, not praising the club for buying low and selling high. And really you can't compare a free transfer like Callum Wilson with someone like Ouattara who cost £20m, as if it's an either/or situation.

Not if we had trust and faith in our owner/decision makers that they were using money in the best way for the club be it reinvesting in the team or other infrastructure, which Bournemouth and Brentford have clearly just demonstrated they are doing. They are making money from the football side of the club which is sustaining the club overall without so far any negative effect on results. If they lose a player, a player is ready to take their place. They have money in the bank in case they need it, instead of a collection of fucking payday loans with high interest to draw against.

And you're right, you cannot compare us buying Wilson with them buying Outtara because we are miles from a position where we could buy him, and they are miles from a position where they have to stoop to getting in some broken down old shit who has openly mocked their club in the past as a backhander for a parasitic agent mate of the owner because they are so badly run they cannot afford anything else. You're either well run like them so you can make these purchases, or you're embarrassingly badly run like us, so you HAVE to make dreadful signings which don't even improve the team like Callum Wilson.

No one, far as I have seen, is disputing the fact that the way he runs the club, is shit for us fans.

However, plenty do diminish his own personal story of becoming a self made billionaire. Someone has called him Del Trotter a few posts above ffs. You don't earn that much money on a whim and a prayer.

I can't wait till he no longer runs this club. But from his point of view, from a business perspective, he's absolutely smashed it again. That's just the reality.

More importantly, will our owner just carrying on with the same old tired throw a plate of spaghetti at the wall and see what sticks football recruitment policy.

I imagine there will be a couple of players coming in before the deadline and a couple going out. I have no idea who and unlike the YouTube “ experts “ who think they are in the know I won’t make bullshit up.

Tomorrow the midfield will be slow but we might get away with it against Sunderland but long term we won’t

Brentford buying Ouattara for 42 million from Bournemouth.

Embarrassing for us twice.

Firstly yet another 'small' club with more spending power than us (Thanks to making almost 100 million in the transfer market this summer)
Secondly, Bournemouth absolutely raking it in- 200 million this summer. What a reward for their talent spotting and coaching staff. They can retool three times over with that money. Imagine being some braindead fucker who thinks buying shit like Callum Wilson is a better move than investing in young talent.
