Everyone on the playing side of things at the club and the owners and board should be ashamed at this performance and result.

This season is going to be shit, relegation on this showing is very much on the.cards.

Fuck off West Ham.

I thought Hermanson done okay. He made a great save in the first half to keep it level and his distribution is much better than we've had for some time which should only get better as he integrates with the team. The first goal looked bad in real time, but the only reason that shot had anything on it was the contact from the defender. The attacker's momentum in the air was carrying him away from goal. The second and third were atrocious defending. No chance on the second and definitely should have stopped the third. He's also much better with crosses than areola. It wasn't a great performance but not awful.

On todays result and performance, probably one of the only premiership teams to go into this season weaker than how we finished last season.

Even Bournemouth who sold 75% of their defence looked better than us.  Imagine we played anyone decent today?

It is not acceptable.

Hermansen should have done a lot better and deserves the flak he's getting for that 2nd half. What I will reiterate though is I found it astonishing that Potter would chuck him in immediately having not played with his new Team mates and the way we are set up. They all looked like strangers defensively with no one looking good at the back. We only signed him last Saturday and Potter chucks him in cold is bizarre having Areola played throughout Pre-season well up and running.

Hermanson gives me the Allen McKnight vibe!  I'm staggered Guido is still here, unless we can't give him away, how anyone can rate him is beyond me, he offers nothing at all, zilch.  Same sadly with JWP.  I had high hopes after a Southampton mate raved about him but he obviously wasn't good enough so shipped out to Forest where he wasn't good enough and now is back here as a starter!  Desperately need to midfielders.  I'd take Geoff Pike and Neil Orr over what we have!!

I'm so glad we spent so much time getting a new keeper. Aerola would have had a clean sheet today. But hey, Hermansen can play with his feet, just can't save a ball. He has no reach.

Same thing we’ve been spouting in vain as it seems all summer. Sullivan needs to get his wallet out and retool the midfield. I can only think the selection today was some sort of cry for help. I did not expect Guido to start.

Oh dear, same old West Ham.
All that possession and just fanied about doing nothing.
Really rubbish goals to concede.
New goal keeper didn't look good.
Looks like being a long hard season.

Boy, it's going to be a long season.

Positives:

For 30 minutes in the first half we played well and had the balance of play. Took a spectacular block from Ballard to keep it level.

Hermanson is an upgrade on areola which is a pretty low bar to clear.

First goal was a bit of a fluke, but having waves of attack for 15 minutes straight increased you odds.

If Sullivan had any shame, he might have been shamed into buying a few more players.

Negatives:

A championship team had us for pace almost to a man with the exception of Bowen.

Guido might be the slowest player in the prem. If we had any pace in the middle we might be able to hide it a little but we don't. He really shouldn't start.

We were out coached. Sunderland adjusted at the half and we had no answer. The subs came 15 minutes too late and did nothing to make us any more dangerous or solid.

We folded like a cheap suit after the first goal went in. This is a team devoid of leadership or confidence.

We have no depth. 3 kids to fill out the bench says it all.

We were blowing out our arse after 75 minutes.

We have no grit, fight, or dynamism. Not once did we respond with any kind of intent after their goals.

We still havent replaced Rice let alone Kudus. We will probably mess up replacing Paqueta and Alvarez but they will need to go because our owner and board wont invest especially seeing how badly we invest on the recruitment side.

As nychammer says, we have the “stink” of relegation all over us.

3-1 West Ham!

Haha. It’s the hope that kills isn’t it?

I will now refer to my previous posts. I saw nothing in preseason that suggests any radical changes from last season. He’s spent 6 months doing the same thing (trying to patiently control the midfield but sacrificing making goal scoring opportunities at the same time). It hasn’t worked.

and he’s picked up where he left off. As most teams do. I keep saying that teams tend to take the form from the last season into the next.

no one is surprised by this (except Potter probably).
I said to someone it’s pure arrogance and ego to keep trying the same thing and it not working for like 8 months now. Blaming the tools (the players, the togetherness etc) but not his actual strategy. Because he’s dug himself a hole filled with his own ego and he can’t get out of it.

lets see how he reacts to Chelsea. Let’s see if he can think on his feet. My prediction was feast or famine with this lot. It’s either going to work amazingly or we will be in relegation zone by Xmas. I just don’t see any serious change to solve the problems we have.

And why buy an 18m keeper when you don’t even have a decent midfielder?? Like wtf is that about?

Kudus is a talent worthy of playing in the Champions League. He's used us as stepping stone to get to a more ambitious club who can offer that, because let's face it he was wasting his time here.

That's not the point. We didn't have to sell him. But when we did, we didn't replace him

I think we _Had_ to sell him or face another moody season from him. Agree - we didn't replace him adequately but thats nothing new for us.
