Big Ange...would you?

Post stubbo-admin »

If Potter was to be gone...would you go for Big Ange?  Yes he's a recent Spurs hero (cue Ferret jumping on this thread) but if the managers out there he feels like the one that would suit us the most.

We certainly don't have a squad capable of playing a 'dig in' backs to the wall type job, so we may as well go gung ho.  Aguerd has recovery pace, Todibo has recovery pace, Diouf has recovery pace, and so does Wan Bissaka when his brain is in gear.   On that basis a super high line gives our slow mids less of the pitch to have to try and cover, plus the biggest talent/most high calibre in our squad (Paqueta, Bowen and Füllkrug) would at least have a chance to shine. On top of that, his attitude and approach to the game is inherently 'West Ham'.  Take it to them regardless, score more than they do, etc. There, for me, is way more to be said for an Ange style manager, than there is for someone like Nuno should he get the sack, and our squad looks far worse for someone like that who looks to sit deep and counter at speed.

Plus when we get relegated...big Ange would likely tear the Championship a new one (since he always wins in his 2nd season).

So...big Ange? I'd be all in on that.

He’s not my type.

He managed Celtic.

He does however win things in his second season, so a major plus for us winning the Championship.’

Aguerd has pace and is pretty good at tracking back to make a saving tackle. Unfortunately, I find he is not great at the bread and butter CB duties.

No. If we don’t have legs and pace now, we will get raped every game playing that crazy high line stuff. We can’t pass the ball or beat the press either. We do t have Van der ven pace at the back to mop anything up or mark forwards. It’ll be open season with Kilman vs strikers in a foot race for 40 yards time and again. We’d get battered every week.

The manager isn't the problem. I see us in ManU kind of situation, managers are destined to fail. Perhaps, we are a little better as our club administration drives us towards failure, with poor haphazard investment and no planning. ManU is just toxic, rotten inside.

But to answer the question, I think it would be a bit of fun to see what Postecoglou could do with our mess of a team or club. However, I think Potter still has a few games to show his true colours.

Why would I want one of the very few managers who was actually worse than us last season?

Why do we have such low standards?

Yes if only for the fact the football would be more entertaining. But we’d be very wide open at the back. We’d probably still go down, but lose to the likes of Chelsea 3-6 rather than 1-5 under Ange ‘mate’
