West Ham planning spectacular move for 42-goal striker despite major transfer difficulties – sources

West Ham United are seriously considering a move for FC Midtjylland striker Franculino Dju, TEAMtalk understands, despite the difficulties they’ve faced with transfers this summer.

The Hammers find themselves in a less than ideal sell-to-buy situation, which has hampered their pursuit of several targets and also forced them to part ways with Mohammed Kudus earlier in the window.

There is also a genuine possibility that Lucas Paqueta could depart the London Stadium, amid interest from Tottenham, if a club offers more than £50m for the Brazilian.

However, while West Ham’s priority for the coming days is to strengthen in midfield, TEAMtalk understands that they have their eye on an exciting young forward.

Midtjylland striker Franculino is becoming one of the most talked-about names in recent weeks. The 21-year-old has already attracted interest from several clubs, with West Ham and Serie A side Como among those prepared to make an early move.

Both sides, through intermediaries, have shown an intention to present bids in the region of €13m (£11.2m / $15m)  to convince Midtjylland to sell.

West Ham view Franculino as a player with top-class potential, but they may need to wait a little longer to strike a deal…

West Ham want to get ahead of competition for exciting forward

Franculino joined Midtjylland from Benfica in the summer of 2023 and he has already established himself as a key player for the Danish club.

However, Midtjylland are very reluctant to part ways with their star striker at this stage.

Franculino has already scored nine goals and provided two assists since the start of this season – making him almost impossible to replace in the final days of the window.

After last season, when he registered 16 goals and six assists, West Ham and Como are now trying to move quickly, hoping to get ahead of the competition.

The logic is clear: if Franculino maintains or even improves his numbers from last year, the race for his signature will only grow fiercer in January or next summer, with more European clubs likely to join the chase.

For now, Midtjylland are standing firm, but Franculino’s next big step seems only a matter of time.

Who is Franculino Dju?

Born in Guinea-Bissau, Franculino spent four years developing in the Benfica academy – winning the UEFA Youth League in 2021-22 – before taking his first steps into senior football with Midtjylland.

After making his debut in August 2023, he scored a hat-trick on his second appearance just four days later, in the Europa Conference League qualifiers.

His rapid rise continued a month later with his first senior international call-up for his country.

Franculino finished his first full season with Midtjylland with 17 goals to his name from 32 games, becoming a Danish Superliga champion. Then, in his second season, he scored 16 goals from 41 games.

Largely a centre-forward, Franculino has featured on the right wing occasionally. He’s a left-footed attacker with speed and skill, but also a work rate that saw him rank in the 99th percentile of Europa League forwards for interceptions per 90 minutes last season.

Franculino can take on players frequently and can be a presence in between the thirds, comfortable playing alongside another strike partner. But he’s quickly making a name for himself.

After Magassa: West Ham Agree 6-Year Deal for Premier League Star, Medical Today

West Ham United could look to strengthen their ranks with a Premier League midfielder in the coming days of the transfer window, according to reports - as the club have 'agreed personal terms' with Nottingham Forest star Ibrahim Sangare, who is currently on his way to undergo a medical in the capital ahead of a six-year deal.

The Hammers are in trouble of being embroiled in a relegation battle if they fail to turn their poor form around, and additions will be key to that - and it appears the club are making an effort to sign Premier League experience with Sangare in their sights.

The report by The Sun reporter Jack Rosser states that the Hammers approached Forest over a loan deal to sign Sangare, with the East Midlands outfit having vastly strengthened their midfield options in recent days.

And it appears a proposal, which also includes an obligation to buy as long as certain clauses are reached throughout his loan deal, has been accepted - seeing the former Toulouse enforcer move to the London Stadium on a long-term deal, alongside Monaco midfielder Soungoulou Magassa, who is also thought to be undergoing a medical on Wednesday ahead of a move.

Just 27 years of age, Sangare already has 78 Ligue 1 appearances, 89 Eredivisie outings and 14 Champions League showings, so he has a vast amount of experience which would come in handy at the London Stadium.

Not sure what's happened to him, as he was a decent keeper at one point. Just seems shot to bits, was at fault for 2 goals last night.

Unsure who would actually take him off us though. Hopefully some two-bob French outfit take a punt.

Areola's abilities I suspect are best utilised when shot stopping from distance.  Under Moyes with the siege like low block, a lot of the shots we had against us were pot shots from range.

But he's also getting older...his reactions will slow slightly, and it only takes a small drop off to be noticeable.  He's also been A LOT more exposed under Lopetegi and Potter....weaker central defenders, weaker defensive organisation, bigger chances conceded more frequently...and he's low on confidence after some key rickets.

I don't truly get the 29 year old Brazillian either...barely played outside of Brazil, likely at best speaks Spanish and Portuguese (which none of our backline count as their primary languages)...in a position that requires communication (and a team that is desperate for some).

If he does come in, hope he's been learning some English/French football lingo the last couple of weeks.  "Push Up You Cowardly Cunts" would be a good phrase to get him started.

‘Concrete interest’ – 2 sources state West Ham have initiated contact for deadline deal

West Ham United are in contention to make a late move for Bayer Leverkusen’s Aleix García this summer, according to multiple claims from Germany.

Last summer, the midfielder left Girona for the Bundesliga club, managing five goals and four assists from 42 games in his debut season.

Prior to his move Germany, West Ham tried to sign him. That’s according to Kicker, and they report the Hammers have now returned for García.

They say the Premier League club can make a new attempt, after renewing their interest in the 28-year-old.

Sky Deutschland back up West Ham’s desire to sign the Spaniard and then provide an update.

It’s claimed Graham Potter’s side have a ‘concrete interest’ in securing García’s services before Monday’s deadline. They have already approached the German club to find out the conditions needed to sign him.

The two clubs have verbally exchanged details and Bayer Leverkusen have set a €20m price. Sky add West Ham haven’t submitted an official bid yet and it’s unclear whether they will make one.

Both Kicker and Sky make no mention of whether García is open to moving to the London club.

Good luck to Magassa we certainly need him to provide something exciting that our midfield currently lacks. I see we're in for Sangare at Forest who we were constantly linked with when he was at PSV. I think he caught Malaria on international duty last November which is why it took a while to recover and establish himself under Nuno.

I've had a look at Transfermarkt and both don't seem to be attached to a representing agency on their profiles.

Have we reached the stage where our owner has burnt his bridges so often over the years that aside from Salthouse nobody else really enjoys doing business with him anymore?

West Ham and AS Monaco reach agreement for Soungoutou Magassa



West Ham United and AS Monaco have reached an agreement for the transfer of Soungoutou Magassa, according to Foot Mercato journalist Santi Aouna.

The versatile 21-year-old Frenchman has agreed to move to the London Stadium to join West Ham in a €20 million deal.

The Hammers will part with an initial €17m for Magassa, with the other €3m coming in add-ons.

French outlet L’Equipe have claimed the defensive midfielder, who also features at centre-back, will be signing a six-year contract to join West Ham.

Hammers manager Graham Potter has been crying out for a defensive midfielder all summer, and he will be hoping the France youth international is the answer.

West Ham lost 3-0 to Sunderland in their opening game of the 2025-26 Premier League campaign before suffering a 5-1 defeat to Chelsea last weekend.

They are back in action tonight when they travel to Molineux to take on Wolverhampton Wanderers in the second round of the League Cup.

West Ham travel to Nottingham Forest in their third Premier League fixture of the new campaign, and Potter will be desperate to head into the international break with all three points.

It is unclear whether a deal for Magassa can be completed in time for the weekend game, but West Ham need verve and steel in the middle of the park as soon as possible.

Tackling and ball interception are the young Frenchman’s strengths, and he brings decent experience to the table after playing almost 80 games as a professional.

West Ham have added Mads Hermansen, Callum Wilson, Kyle Walker-Peters and El Hadji Malick Diouf to their squad after signing Jean-Clair Todibo permanently, and they need more quality signings.

Magassa fits the bill despite his relatively cheap fee, and he will be eager to prove himself in the Premier League and force his way into the French senior national team.

This will then enable us to to play 2 more offensive midfielders so that we can start to create some chances for Fullkrug, Bowen, Wilson or Marshall. His addition, if it happens, frees us up. If we can also get another offensive midfielder in and maybe a CB, Charlie Cresswell, then we might have a chance to improve on our start this season.
