"[We've stabilised things a lot]. The culture is better, I think we’ve done a lot of good work in terms of the culture and the foundation of the group being better, [the togetherness of the Club is better]. There’s connection and commitment in this team."
https://www.thesun.co.uk/sport/36446825 ... rabao-cup/
..As well as a player also openly bad mouthing the Club to potential new signings, Fullkrug and others constantly fighting in dressing room with reports of Old Bill being called and fans venting their anger at the Board.
I had to add bits the West Ham site purposely chose to edit out knowing what full well what a load of bollocks he spouts in Pressers.

Re: Potter Out
Still not convinced with his “Poor Man’s Pep” tactics as the best teams seem to have moved away from a pure controlled possession game. Liverpool, Chelsea, Arsenal etc can move the ball quickly and get it from back to front with 2 or 3 passes to break teams down and other teams like Bournemouth, Brighton and even Forest all rely on relentless pressimg and speed and power. I look at City and yes they have great players but not the same athleticism in midfield overall or at least last season that was the case. Even Guardiola said the game has evolved and he needed to modify how he had the team playing. Potter seems stuck in 2020 thinking but maybe, just maybe if he gets the power, pace and ball carrying, pressing capabilities in midfield he can get us competing far more effectively ( I mean its impossible to be worse than we’ve been for the last few seasons surely ?).
Still think we need a 3rd young powerful attacking midfielder like possibly this Timber geezer but anyway we are about to see if Potter can start to properly improve us after 8 months of going nowhere.

Re: Potter Out
What do you mean he's got the players in no excuses now. ?? Rather a planky comment for you .
for what its worth as an excuse .
zero fucking preseason with new midfield , seasons started in the shit, out of one cup . Will it take longer than 2 premier league games to bed them in and see an improvement?
probably
Should have sorted the midfield in june ffs

Re: Potter Out
Yup agree. If the two midfielders at least come in then plus a CB and or striker then he’s got to deliver.
I have been a little hesitant to condemn him given what he’s had to work with at those key positions but there’s no excuse with a large influx of new blood.

Assuming we lose away at Forest and at home to Tottenham (which I think is highly likely), then we would be going into that Palace game with 5 defeats from 5 in the season and 4 from 4 in the Premier League. Even if we fail to get a surprise win from either but draw one or both of them, it would still be 5 and 4 without a win.
I think he will survive a defeat this weekend and even at home to Tottenham on 13th September with our board, but another home defeat at home to Palace on the 20th would likely make his position untenable.
If Spurs give us a stuffing similar to the Chelsea one which is highly possible after their positive start under Frank then he may well be toast

Sullivan waits for the manager to get off to an awful start then starts to back him
If he loses the next 3/4 games then what? we've just spunked another 50 odd mill on a load of players that were wanted for about a month then the new guy comes in and whats to change it in Jan
Shambles, I would rather he sacked Potter yesterday and a new guy ready to go with a few days to get players in
Sullivan has had to bend over and back a manager he doesnt want with a load of cash he doesnt want to spend to get players in using a recruitment system he doesnt believe in

In comparison to the heat Mike Ashley was under from the media before he sold, Sullivan seems to be getting away with murder

Re: Potter Out
So, would the fans raucously getting behind Potter (and tolerating the team getting a few more thumpings) alter the dynamics, especially while we've the media spotlight on us?
If the wider (sporting) public are encouraged to focus (more) on what we all know is the root of all our problems, would Sullivan start to feel the heat?
Not sure how true the stories are on clubs snubbing us purely on account of Sullivan's behaviour in the transfer market, but if it becomes a trending meme that crosses over into reality, then we're truly fucked.

There are many lazy, feckless types in the sports newsrooms, though. In news terms, they’re spoon-fed football’s warm diarrhoea.

So they write about managers more regularly. Because it’s more accurate to say Potter will be sacked (which he will be) than Sullivan will sell.
As fans, we’re far more concerned about shite owners. Rightly so. The problems emanate from them. But any decent sports journalist will write about scores of sides. Fans of most clubs tell them their owner is shite. But how often does ownership change?
So, of course there will be more media focus on managers and players.
Potter is under pressure and close to losing his job. Realistically, Sullivan is not. Yet.Realistically the fans are asking someone to sell up but that’s like your neighbour asking you to sell your house cos you don’t like them. It’s not really going to happen. Especially if it’s making him lots of money and giving him something to do.
And that’s the main problem really. West Ham is something he likes doing. He likes tinkering. Other rich owners have lots of other things to do but this guy can’t leave it alone.
I found the Jacob Steinberg article in the guardian today interesting as he seemed to be under direction to blame Steidten for everything. Is he under direction from Sullivan here?
he omitted several things like steideten wanting Duran only for Sullivan to fuck that up leaving him with little time to get a decent striker, hence Fullkrug who’d just lead the line for Germany in the euros so hardly shit. Steinberg has brought in the only saleable assets the club had (kudus, Todibo etc) in recent years. And wasn’t guido a Lopetegui choice? Not to mention steiden didn’t want Loppy anyway.
it’s just weird how much protection Sullivan still gets from journalists…
It’s not really “protection”, though. Most journalists who know anything about football know that Sullivan is a terrible chairman.
There are a few that are stooges because they get regular info from him and his acolytes.
It’s just that most journalists aren’t overly invested in him one way or another, especially when compared to us fans - because we live and breathe the club.
On a quiet day, we come on here and talk about West Ham. On a quiet day, football journalists call about 5-10 clubs and senior contacts. They’re not only interested in us.
Few of them are “protecting” Sullivan.

Interesting piece on Bury FC this morning on Radio 4. They are now owned by the fans and are moving back up the leagues.

Re: Potter Out
Many moons ago, I briefly worked at When Saturday Comes. It was my only foray into the sport side of sports journalism.
Fans of every side told you their chairman or owner was shite. You heard it so often that it became meaningless. Especially as the owner almost always stayed in post. Even when it was true (as it is in our case).
It’s not much of a story to journalists, unless something bigger is brewing - like a takeover, or the few occasions when fans force terrible owners out. Because where does it lead?
Right now, the media smells Potter’s blood. Not Sullivan’s. Rightly or wrongly.

how many times have we said “surely now” when it comes to sacking managers. He’ll be here for a few more yet, the thought of having to pay him off will be sticking in sullivans throat.

Re: Potter Out
The wheels are pinging off the motor 1 by 1 that Sullivan is joyriding us in to a direct collision with relegation at this rate..

When we look closer at Potters record, even the 5 wins bar 1 against Arsenal who felt the League title slipping away was pathetic and nothing to shout about.
Leicester - Were already Relegated
Ipswich - Were already Relegated
Man Utd - Their worst Premier League season where most Teams beat them anyway
Fulham - Midtable Team who almost got a result at our place
