Summer Transfer Window 2025 | Official Thread

Post stubbo-admin »

May as well get going with this since with Sullivan at the helm, season ticket renewals slow, and the football vacuum to commence, this will soon be all the "news" there is.

Can Potter and MacCauley pull multiple rabbits out of the hat, or will Sullivan 'try really hard' with all of them before grabbing a few aging bargains from Big Willie Salthouse?

Club expecting West Ham bid for star – Graham Potter a big fan of 24-year-old

Image

By Sean Lunt

West Ham United are keen on VfL Wolfsburg winger Patrick Wimmer, with Graham Potter a particular fan of the 24-year-old.

That’s according to BILD, who report that West Ham could move for the Austrian before the end of the transfer window.

The newspaper reports that Wolfsburg are expecting activity at the club before the window comes to an end and the current focus is on Wimmer.

West Ham and Potter are big fans of the player and Wimmer is, in principle, not averse to making the move to the Premier League. He has long dreamed of playing in England.

The big problem is that he has a contract until 2027 and that doesn’t include a release clause. VfL’s management, including boss Peter Christiansen and sporting director Sebastian Schindzielorz aren’t interested in letting the winger join West Ham this summer.

Wimmer is one of their best players and has started this season in good form, with an assist in the opening day 3-1 win over Heidenheim. The Austrian, though, wants to join a club that has a ‘permanent international presence’. Whether West Ham fall into that bracket is up for debate.

But they and specifically Potter like the player and are seemingly ready to make an effort to get him before the window closes.

Because they would hit us with a massive loan fee and they don't want to sell him, so we would pay that have no player at the end and be giving him game time.. Or alternatively we could buy a good young player and develop him and make a profit
He wants to go on loan, if the fee is him for a season for £5m or this Monaco bloke for £20m i know what i am choosing.

Mainoo was terrific when he burst onto the scene, talks of going Chelsea for £60m.  Man Utd is a toxic place, Rashford, Anthony both had big uptakes in form going out on loan.

Not wanting Mainoo for a year to keep us up over Monaco's third/fourth choice CM is bonkers.

Oh ffs so on one thread you don't want to buy a player from a shit team and think we should buy a young European player for around the same amount as Magassa (it's not £20 million) on this thread you want to loan a player that will cost £5 million that couldn't get in a worse team than ours last season

But in the other thread you're saying there are loads of players in Europe that we could buy for a similar fee and turn a profit... But you'd rather be £5 million down and helping Man U than owning our own asset who will make a profit because as you said there are loads out there.

You're all over the show son

Its not hard mate, Mainoo on loan is obviously a great deal if like the other Man Utd loaness of recent seasons he gets back near his best.  At his best, he walks into most teams let alone one fighting relegation like ours.

You talk about prem proven alot.......well Mainoo is prem proven, is less risk than Monaco's 3rd or 4th choice bloke no one had ever heard of till last week.

It's all about getting the best players in your team and a Mainoo at his best pisses over Fernandes or anyone else for £20m thats the whole point.

Unless you have a direct source, not convinced by this.  He had to redo an aspect of the medical owing to a technical issue with the medical (maybe someone forgot to turn on a machine or hit record or some such).  Was meant to be a formality.

Unless you're not referring to that, or there was then a subsequent failure off the back of it?!

How is getting Mainoo on loan paying a premium to help Man Utd out?

So it’s better to pay £5m to develop a player Man United have no intention of selling, rather than pay £14m to develop a France U21 midfielder who will sign a six year deal with us? Odd logic.

In the next breath you’ll probably accuse the club of not being forward thinking.
Unless you think Fernandes is shit then it's...

Because young promising CM's are scattered all over Europe. You just have to go and find them like the Brighton's., Chelsea's, Wolves and Bournemouths do. To suggest he is the ONLY one providing any value right now at £42M is pretty mental.
