Like the look of him, looks strong and good reader of the game, hope he does well for us.
Re: Welcome Soungoutou Magassa!
yeah they did... after having previously lost out on 3 targets fo fill the same injured madison role, one of whom in particular was about to be announced before being stopped in it's tracks by legal threats. By all means pick holes, but fucking hell try to find some joy somewhere

He sounds promising. Look forward to see how he gets on and becomes a mainstay in the Team. Welcome to the madhouse, Soungoutou!

Announced on os
Welcome Mugassa
The 6’2 Magassa, who is also comfortable at centre-back, ranked second in tackles won in Ligue 1 and was amongst the leading defenders for interceptions and progressive passing in 2023/24. This resulted in a move into midfield, where he ranked first for ball recoveries during the 2024/25 season. Having been extensively scouted by the coaching staff and recruitment team, who identified both his ability to make an immediate impact and scope for future growth, the highly rated young Frenchman is looking forward to showcasing his talent in Claret and Blue.

Fabrizio just confirmed contracts signed, 4 year deal. Was originally mooted to be 6...maybe last minute details were being confirmed on length.

Re: Welcome Soungoutou Magassa!
I knew that decent pre-season would bite us in the arse. He'd have loved to have bemoaned about how skint we are due to FFP, got a couple of cast offs on play as you play and cozied down to finish 17th.
Sullivan has absolutely no shame. I remember him once saying that he'd make a great West Ham manager 'if I had the time'. It's straight out of the unwritten rulebook for rich cunts with massive egos. I've worked for a couple of them and they always remind you that your job is piss easy and the only reason you're employed is because the job is beneath them. Sullivan has seriously reminded me of the most odious cunts I've ever worked for and the fact that he's got hold of my club is and has always been a horrifying prospect.
The transfer window brings out all the snakes and rats with stuff like agents leaking nearly done deals to invite clubs into a bidding war and that's where Sullivan is perfectly comfortable, making enquiries into players he has absolutely no intention of signing to get a bit of leverage on a player he does want (whether the manager likes it or not) but of course he'd REALLY prefer to pay nothing and spend his time counting the toilet rolls and soap at the OS.
Remember last season when he openly said that the only player he liked was the one he bought, Summerville? That must have been motivating for the rest of the new players. You'd have thought he'd learned that lesson when he said Snodgrass was shit.
By the way, where IS Summerville? Has Sullivan fucked him to death?
Anyway, here we go again panic buying at the arse end of the window. Let's see how clever he really is waiting so long. I expect to see a couple of £40 million quid Max Kilmans.
Why the fuck did I renew?

Considering he was ahead of Fernandes and he still hasn’t been announced there’s clearly something not right, whether it goes through or not

Macaulay is essentially head of talent identification. If deals are for players we've identified for months and are only just getting done, that's always been on the dwarf. The thing with this though, it's not like you identify a player and just go out and buy him for his RRP like at a shop. There has to be constant weighing up of how much you're willing to pay and any amount over an initial bid may impact on who else can come in, depending on the budget restraints.
Potter has already stated that he wanted Macauley to act as a conduit so he doesn't have to have conversations about recruitment and can focus on tactics, training, etc. That means that even when we finally make an initial approach that there's a constant back and forth relay running between Potter, Macauley and Sullivan on our side as well as the selling club, the player and his agent on the other. This is one of the reasons that it works better and certainly faster to have a Director of Football who both makes the recruitment decisions and handles all the negotiations.
Agreed. The point I was making was that Sullivan pronouncing he's riding in on his white charger and 'taking control of deals'....he's always been in that role. If he hasn't been, he's not been doing his part.
