Great to get a win, but some people here are going way over the top that there's some kind of renaissance here. We were fucking shite for the first 80 minutes. The only good we've seen from Potter has been the first 45 vs Fulham on his debut and the last 10+ today: ie Summerville's only time on the pitch. Hopefully he's a Harry Potter-esque magic man and can play 90 mins every match for the rest of the season or else we're in trouble.

Maybe it ain't about Summerville being a talisman as much about playing people in their right positions, as was said by some of us on here at half time about putting an actual left winger on.

Easy to say ‘bin off JWP’ but who is buying him? Why should he just give up the fat pay packet we gave him? Also we actually make a net loss on PSR if we sell him for a loss. We are likely stuck with him for the foreseeable future. Irving will earn us a few mill and is a far easier sale.

I agree in a perfect world you’d do it that way but the reality is a lot more complicated.

However for today it’s more interesting to talk about the good for once

I really (typically West Ham) couldn't remotely see that coming and didn't even really want to spend some of my Sunday watching another capitulation. Life's too short. It's amazing the bump WHU can give your weekend after a win. I'd almost forgotten how that feels.

I still think waiting until the end of the window to almost panic buy players (on a sort of 'if we get off to a decent start like preseason we won't need to buy...' is a stupid way to do business to the point where we'll never know if today influences who we do or don't buy before the window shuts but today I'm just going to enjoy the win. Fuck me, as supporters we deserve it.

As it is I'll park letting Kudas go and the thousands of micro-fuck ups our idiot chairman has committed to make us a laughing stock. Fuck Sullivan, fuck Nayef, fuck Kudas (we've got Summerville) until at least Tuesday.

Fair post. Nobody saw that coming and after the two previous games you werent the only one thinking the worst. One game does not make a season but there are some reasons for optimism even if this club and its owners are their own worst enemies. Long way to go but there's life in this side. COYI!

For me Summerville and Wilson changed the whole complexion of the game, Wilson is a proper number 9 and Summerville is a genuine winger.

Did our GD a more respectable look.

More of the same please against N17.

Only caught the second half, but a very assured performance. Defended well too. Wilson like Summerville looked a threat when he came on, and that was actually a clever finish to head the ball down. Paqueta and Fernandes will form a decent partnership, providing he stays.

On today’s performance, we don’t have too much to worry about. Shame we have to wait a couple of weeks for Spurs.

Fair play to Paqueta. The murmurs that he was refusing to travel were bollocks, and he behaved professionally. I mean, so he should, but plenty of entitled players act like bell ends.

Romano has dropped a bollock and lost a lot of credibility.

He wasn't particularly bad, but he certainly wasn't good. An absolute nothing player, painfully slow, and now his set pieces have gone, what exactly is the point of him?

I wouldn’t want to rely on him but JWP wasn’t that bad today. It’s a pre-set view. Nobody was bad really.

Potter speaking to Radio 5 alluded that the whole Paq business over the past few days was bollocks and that he's staying.

Great result.
Awful game, apart from the last 6 minutes. I thought it was going to be a 0-0 bore fest.
Amazing how having one player, Summerville, with the ability to take the ball forward absolutely transformed us.

Would still hope to see another midfielder tomorrow to give options along with Paqueta , Fernandes & Magassa so that we don’t see JWP & Soucek could be an impact sub if we are chasing a goal.
Almost tempted to keep Irving to add some depth with Potts
Rodriquez leaves tomorrow presumably

Happily see Fullkrug off to some Germans on loan if we have someone younger to come in plus a replacement for Aguerd ( someone without a pea heart)

Yep we contained them pretty well. We got quite deep and rode our luck at times early in the second half as they pressed us back and I started to fear for us a bit, not to mention some naiive defending by Kilman that could have cost us, but having gotten to the 75 min mark goalless those subs were timely and well made. Hats off to Potter for that.
