Good win…
Potter finally woke up….
Need to build on this and set up appropriately in future games…
Check again in end of October…
Potter still less than competent in my opinion…

Re: Potter Out
It was a good win vs a below par Forest team, but we actually dispatched below par teams last season to be fair. What we never did was build on a decent win and until that happens, there will be zero progress under this manager.

But to really know will probably mean waiting until xmas assuming we dont immediately go back into a “downward death spiral”. The transfer window needs to get us at least a CB ( Cresswell?) but imo another centre mid is still required to starting JWP and Soucek. A younger striker too is required but realistically I suspect we will only get a CB. That said, was looking at this Magassa’s stats, he is Europe’s top 5 for defensive duel winning, tackles and interceptions. Something we really have missed since Rice went. Im hoping to see us go up another notch with him and Fernandes alongside Paqueta.
Magassa's stats are unreal. And if he is as good as they declare and as good as some French football pundits are saying then we have stolen him for that money. I think, as you say, ultimately it will be Paqueta, Magassa and Fernandes.
Potter needs to quickly work out what is our best formation though. If he wants that midfield 3 then he needs to play a 3-5-2 or a 4-5-1. But yesterday we played a 3-4-3. Now with Summerville back how does he integrate him with Diouf? Has KWP played himself in over AWB? Is Wilson now the starter of Fullkrug?
Lots for Potter to think about. And all this on top of him still being under the microscope for many. We lose next game and its all doom and gloom again.

He answered is critics today, fair enough. One swallow dosen't make a summer, but he's earned himself a reprieve and lets hope we can continue to push in the right direction. Getting one or two more in this window will go a long way in that respect.

Well done for 3 points…Need to see continued improvement…Defence needs tightening and
consistency…
Midfield need at least one more quality DFM…
Paqueta looked up for it…maybe his agent is ngling for a wage rise ?

Re: Potter Out
Far from a genius - but today was better, probably because fernandes and Summerville came in. Two quality players. The job is tricky, it's pretty much replacing an entire squad of players, with unpopular owners and stadium and high expectations of west ham fans. I don't think he is the right person for the job , but I really want him to turn it around as I think three managers in a year would be a disaster for everyone.
Re: Potter Out
Who today has posted something that makes Potter out to be a genius?
Some posters have pointed out that Potter seems to have selected an eleven, with accompanying tactics, that they have long advocated. Fair play to them.
The actual big difference today though was twofold, firstly not conceding and secondly the introduction of Somerville. That player’s cameo really added something to our attacking capability.

Re: Potter Out
It's not even just the results with Potter. The fact he gave no opportunities to the younger players the other day doesn't at all bode well going forward. If he's not giving them minutes in the league cup then when are they going to get a chance?

Re: Potter Out
They are all fucking gash. A midfield that doesn’t get routinely walked through time after time will help them though. Desperately need one non shit CB to be signed. We are stuck with Kilman and Todibo. Probably Aguerd too seen as no cսnt wanted him.

Eerie Decent" wrote: ↑29 Aug 2025, 21:48 He'll realise the centre backs are the actual problem when we're still letting in goals by the bucketload.
The trouble is Mavropanos would be absolutely fine if he had a decent, pacy centre back sweeping up after him and covering his back. He's like a Greek Neil Ruddock or Martin Keown. Effective but with a brain alongside him. The other three are useless though and take no responsibility whatsoever. 4 central defenders who cost £120 million between them and they look like somebody's cut their balls off with some plastic cutlery.
Again, we are well behind the curve. It looks like we pay top money for the type of defender who would've smashed it 30 fucking years ago.

Sir Alf" wrote: ↑29 Aug 2025, 08:41 Still not convinced with his “Poor Man’s Pep” tactics as the best teams seem to have moved away from a pure controlled possession game. Liverpool, Chelsea, Arsenal etc can move the ball quickly and get it from back to front with 2 or 3 passes to break teams down and other teams like Bournemouth, Brighton and even Forest all rely on relentless pressimg and speed and power. I look at City and yes they have great players but not the same athleticism in midfield overall or at least last season that was the case. Even Guardiola said the game has evolved and he needed to modify how he had the team playing. Potter seems stuck in 2020 thinking but maybe, just maybe if he gets the power, pace and ball carrying, pressing capabilities in midfield he can get us competing far more effectively ( I mean its impossible to be worse than we’ve been for the last few seasons surely ?).
Still think we need a 3rd young powerful attacking midfielder like possibly this Timber geezer but anyway we are about to see if Potter can start to properly improve us after 8 months of going nowhere.
At least you and I can stop banging on about needing midfielders quite so much now though.

"[We've stabilised things a lot]. The culture is better, I think we’ve done a lot of good work in terms of the culture and the foundation of the group being better, [the togetherness of the Club is better]. There’s connection and commitment in this team."

..As well as a player also openly bad mouthing the Club to potential new signings, Fullkrug and others constantly fighting in dressing room with reports of Old Bill being called and fans venting their anger at the Board.
I had to add bits the West Ham site purposely chose to edit out knowing what full well what a load of bollocks he spouts in Pressers.

Re: Potter Out
What do you mean he's got the players in no excuses now. ?? Rather a planky comment for you .
for what its worth as an excuse .
zero fucking preseason with new midfield , seasons started in the shit, out of one cup . Will it take longer than 2 premier league games to bed them in and see an improvement?
probably
Should have sorted the midfield in june ffs

Re: Potter Out
Yup agree. If the two midfielders at least come in then plus a CB and or striker then he’s got to deliver.
I have been a little hesitant to condemn him given what he’s had to work with at those key positions but there’s no excuse with a large influx of new blood.
