Summer Transfer Window 2025 | Official Thread

Post stubbo-admin »

May as well get going with this since with Sullivan at the helm, season ticket renewals slow, and the football vacuum to commence, this will soon be all the "news" there is.

Can Potter and MacCauley pull multiple rabbits out of the hat, or will Sullivan 'try really hard' with all of them before grabbing a few aging bargains from Big Willie Salthouse?

I have a little theory about the fee. Emerson apparently had a sell on clause so we deliberately kept his fee down and boosted Aguerd’s up so that the rent boys wouldn’t get as much money.
Kind of thing Sullivan would do- even if it cost him money to boot.

I can’t believe what a cսnt Aguerd turned out to be. Moody fucking dick from day one until the day he left. Good riddance. Selfish waste of money.

If nothing else, one thing I think we can guarantee is Igor will be an upgrade on Aguerd. That flakey fucker was absolutely useless all told. A proper weak streak of piss.

Can’t believe we’ve nicked nearly 20 million quid for the charlatan.

Think we are still a striker/winger player short of being able to go hard till January. Don't see Fullkrug/Wilson being available for most the games at the same time so we are short up top.

Glad to see Earthy and Potts staying, hoping they can get some minutes and compete.

Amazed we haven't shifted Rodriguez and one of JWP/Soucek. What a waste of a squad space.
JWP/Soucek Featured heavily in our win on Sunday. They held the line for > 60 minutes. Soucek will get 10 goals. We now have some more steel, energy and speed so hopefully more ballance.

I think we have one of the best squads we’ve ever had but are light in goal and up front. Not ideal obvs.
Thats fine and good for them.  I would still rather see Potts or Alvarez over either of them against Spurs alongside Fernandes and Paqueta.

They both have major limitations which will get exposed over the course of a season, especially at home.

Surely the Aguerd deal went through? Been sitting outside the Marseille training ground since we signed him.

Waster.

Let's see. As l9ng as Potter doesn't revert to a back 3, i doubt he'll see much game time.
Somewhat usefully he also covers as a regular left back too. Maybe not so great for Ollie Scarles, but when Afcon comes around and we lose Diouf and AWB, that might be a useful trait to have.
That's interesting. I discount Scarles as a squad player as he will never make it as a Premier League player. Mark my words.

I'd have sold him or shipped him out to a League One club as that is his real level once the claret and blue spectacles are removed.

The two free agents we brought in have done better than I expected them to do, Diouf is a definite upgrade at LB, Fernandez looks settled already and Hermansen was put into the team too soon in a position where every fuck up counts to tell whether he’s our nailed on keeper, but hopefully. Generally pretty pleased with the window but again it feels like Sullivan has just done what he feels is just enough and not addressed the obvious young striker position. Pleased that he tripped himself up with regards Paqueta “trying to force a move” bollocks.
Once again, Sullivans report will state could do better if he only concentrated on more than his wank bank.

I would think the most likely reason Igor Julio didn’t go to Palace is that Glasner would have walked if they’d sold Guehi and Eze in the same transfer window.

fraser wrote: 01 Sep 2025, 23:18 Yeah I read this bloke is in the bottom one percent in heading stats... Just what we needed.. Should have let him weaken Palace
Looking at the underlying stats he wins 50-60% of aerial fuels across his career. Basically the same as Aguerd and a little better than Todibo.

Gotta love the bloke....was the player that let Bowen score the goal for the conference win instead of hacking him down.

He's a close match up to replace Aguerd in the left side, on the cheap. Cresswell also has notable downsides (is pretty damn slow, poor passing, poor tackling and would be a third right-footer with just Kilman as a left footer).

Not going to pull up any trees, but 4th choice CB, gives Paqueta an Emerson replacement Brazilian fwend...not a disaster.

Transfer window is a Mixed bag for me

Keeper looks suspect
No young center forward
No dominant Center half (should be our priority)

Saying that we did

Shift some dead wood
Sign Diouf who is mustard
Address our midfield
Sign Fernanades who looks like a player
Upgrade the center forward position with Wilson
And steal KWP who is a good utility player.

So the squad has definitely improved a lot.

I’ll give it a 7/10….. Would have been an 8 if we had addressed the Center half properly.

Looking forward to watching us play again, which is nice, it’s been a while.

The cost of Sullivan’s insistence on appointing Loppy is still hanging around our neck like a huge turd in the form of Kilman and Guido.  A classic example of “Creating the storm then complaining when it rains”.  Sullivan’s feeling a bit better tonight though after not being able to sell Paqueta, he got £19 million for Aguerd at the death, so the wage bill now down £25 million a year in total. He will claim credit for basically making the cost cuts to help correct his failed appointment of Loppy. £40 million for Kilman on a 7 year deal. The genius of David Sullivan.
