Im in favour of knowing who is entitled to be in the country, who is paying their tax & death squads visiting those who haven’t paid their tv licence.

The fundamental point is that it CAN be used in such a way should someone so desire to do so. Because YOU wouldn't doesn't mean no one else would.

Don't argue with the data being out there, but it's still fragmented, which offers a certain level of security (unless certain dumb fuckers freely hand over personal information in exchange for a load of "free" stuff.

There WILL be a drive to include ALL personal information about an individual on such an "ID" card (/App), when the only info needed by the state is the right to live in the UK, the right to use state services (NHS/Benefits Office/etc.) and proof that all tax requirements have been met.

There will be a great push for "One card to reign over all cards" that fuck-wits will swallow with glee; the state will then threaten to withdraw the operating licences of any commercial institution that fails to hand over their customers' personal details.

Everything about YOU will be available to anyone authorised to access/view it (See the MoD and Afghan data breach for your obviously much needed comfort in this area).

This is not the future; this is what living in the now is all about.

"ID" cards need to be resisted at any cost...

No, I'm serious. I really dont think we will be issued with just 'ID cards'. Sure,that's how they'll start out but before long your bank details, health records and everything about you will be incorporated on to this card. 

We have seen people jailed for opinions,a bloke getting off a plane to be met by coppers for a tweet and 30 people per day being arrested for what they post on line. If other measures to punish people for this kind of thing are introduced,ie temporarily freezing bank accounts then a hell of a lot more people are going to become very compliant.

In the name of environmentalism, we are told we are flying to much and eating to much meat, what better way of controlling such things as limiting our ability to purchase them.

Ranging from  WMD to the never ending promises made to cut immigration and to the efforts to overturn Brexit, my faith and trust in politicians is almost non existant and i really do believe they (all) want as much control over us as possible. What better way is there than to have constant spending restraints dangling over us if we step out of whatever lines it is we are not supposed to cross.

Fair play to them for admitting that institutionalised stupidity is now routine.

To be fair, the explanation that the police were armed was because that "at an airport it is routine for police to be armed".  Okay, fair enough but why did it need five! Was it a slow day or does it just symptomatic of the gross mis-use of manpower in the police.
