I like Scotty Parker but won't happen. It will be Nuno if we are lucky as he is by far the best of the currently unemployed managers that Sullivan wound consider

According to C&H  Lampard and Mourinho have been quietly ruled out

Current favorites are:  Rodgers, Nuno, Dyche, Solskjaer, Cooper, Southgate  (i.e. the dole queue)

Scott Parker - Great motivator and has a clear idea how he wants the game played! Not sure Burnley would let him go though!

Glasner who we saw at Eintracht Frankfurt & ignored must realise  that having had Olise & Eze sold with Guehi & Wharton next that he is never going to be able to sustain his 2 trophy wins

Sullivans list will be
Dyche
Allardyce
Avram Grant
Barry Fry
Jack Sullivan
We should have gone for Glasner as soon as Frankfurt sacked him.......yet another missed opportunity!

The one thing Mourinho has over all the recent’s appointments is that he has won things at the top level. If our players don’t listen to him then we know that it’s the players who are to blame for our demise.

Anyone with a name and a half decent reputation isn’t coming to West Ham, with Mourinho being the exception.

Why would you even bring him up in conversation?

Forgetting the fact he has absolutely panned at PL level, as if he would come ffs, and as if our fans would have that. The board are incredibly shit, but even they are not THAT stupid. Go to an away game, and you'll hear the song about him, maybe then you would not make such an idiotic and pointless suggestion.

I reckon the only person who might take the job is Lampard.
If he hasn't completely burnt bridges with west ham. They can put a spin on it and wheel out dad etc

I don't really want him but a balloon with a face drawn on is better than CPP at this stage

IMO Mourinhon, and this is purely a gut feel thing, is the only manager that guarantees we don't get relegated.

He is someone who knows how to get results, instils belief and a fighting mentality in a squad. The football is dirge, but it's effective.

All the others....Dyche, Nuno, Cooper etc...they don't have the strength of character to come in and deal with the rot. Silva would be long term a great manager for us...but unlikely to be what we need this season. Same for someone like Iraola. Plus those two are in the Prem already and would likely want Clubs with better immediate fortunes.

So at this point, Mourinho would be my pick despite the football. A total bandaid on our current position, and the press conferences would be more entertaining than the football, but the bloke is a born winner, and fuck me could we do with a bit of that right now.

I think they'll go for mourinho.  As it would take the spotlight off the useless dwarf and his lackey . A desperate man does desperate things .

If it’s a choice of Nuno or Mourinho (which it won’t be, not with our board), then it’s a no-contest in favour of Mourinho. He’s still head and shoulders the better manager. But our board would never sanction it.

Go all out to get Silva from Fulham, best at managing at our level currently, but am certain it will be Dyche.

Mourinho and Nuno would return us to the low possession, low block game but should keep us in the Prem Lge.  Suspect fans would hate the football once again, like with Moyes, after a while but thats probably the price we have to pay to stay up because Sullivan wont be going down the “progressive” route again for a little while ( well until we all get sick of the football again). And round and around we go. Its what happens when there is no long term plan, professional football people running the club to execute the plan. Instead Sullivan runs it like a family market stall and consults his sons, favoured agents.

Nothing will change until the Sullivans are gone or at least having nothing to do with the day to day running of the football side of the club.

Reading the forum looks like a straight choice between Nuno and Mourinho? fuck knows who the owners and board would go for, the cheapest perhaps...........

Personally, either will do me, that win at Forest looking like a flash in the pan and them being a bit shit, maybe due in part to the public spat between owner and manager? Rather than us turning up for a change🤷‍♂️

In my humble these wish lists aren't much help because it's not who you and I want who will get the gig but who the man signing the cheques wants. And I suspect that man is Sean Dyche.

Which is why, imo, it's pointless changing the manager for the, what is it, 8th time since the dwarf took over, because whoever he appoints at the end of the day it will still be him calling the shots.  Until we get a proper director of football and leave whoever that is to make all the key footballing decisions, in stead of allowing a bloke running the gaff like he's a spotty 15 year old playing Football Manager, we will. continue to be left behind by our more progressive competitiors.

its been a while since my last diatribe and my therapist has told me to keep up the verbal diarreah hence apologies to you all and especially those who overcome their urge to top themselves rather than read through all of the below 🤭🥴

So anyway…. Craig Bellamy is a decent shout ( although dont know his tactics / philosophy). . But IMO Mourinho and Nuno’s footballing philosophy and tactics are from the same stable as Moyes, low possession, low block and fast counters and good set pieces. Not having the ball much with 2 banks of 4 etc was only tolerated with Moyes while we were on an unexpected, upward trajectory during the COVID season and half of the next one. We got into Europe via the league twice. The Euro conf win season gave us Europe again despite dreadful league form. By that point fand no longer tolerated “Alamo style defending” and not having the ball but being in Europe ( after 40 years ) it was still tolerated.   Nuno had a similar experience at Wolves. 2 good finishes in the league with low possession before trying to transition to a more entertaining style which saw Wolves struggle and him sacked in season 3 or 4. I suspect it would have gone the same way with Forest if they had a more stable owner. Fine this season with Euro football but soon as league form started slipping, fans tolerance ends and unrest before he gets binned.

Its the same with Mourinho. He was very very successful at clubs with lots of money in playing that same low possession, counter attacking game when it was a new tactical approach . The exception was at Chelsea imho, where he had so much money to spend ( relative to other teams and before FFP and PSR ) that his tactics were not as limiting. The quality of pllayers they had meant they could still have a good share of the possession but ultimately the foundations were solid defending and countering. Makele was key to that but they had so many exceptional players.  Mourinho would get top half with most teams I suspect but the style or “entertainment value” is usually the problem if the club is not winning things is the point.

Potter is sort of the inverse to these managers. Possession for possession’s sake. Not enough end product. Why? You need the technical, athletic players to make it work. We havent had them and hence it becomes “crab football”.  Recruitment is key to clubs being successful with this possession style especially if, like us, they dont have the resources of the rich 6. And success is then just Euro qualification and possiblt a domestic cup. CL and Prem Lge winning is largely out of bounds.

But with our owners and execs ( BS ) we have no strategy or long term plan for the football side of the business. No operational plan or adequate infrastructure ( DOF, scouting, analysis etc) to execute the plan.  Potter’s up against it as all managers or coaches at West Ham will be. Moyes success was an unintended, albeit welcome accident.

The current protests are what matters now. The manager’s position is secondary, a symptom of Sullivan and Brady’s running of the club. Potter will be axed quite rightly, if improvement is not seen or we remain in the relegation discussions but ultimately any replacement is doomed to fail in the directionless environment Sullivan operates where a small group of confidents including his sons and agents make short term, reactive calls on footballing matters.  As Hammers Utd are proposing, if he wont sell up then he and Brady need to handover the running of the club to people who have proper know how, experience, expertise and a track record of success. No more of half arse, implementing a DOF role which imo was “designed to fail” by Sullivam because he always wanted to retain full control. I mean it was obvious by virtue of his insistence of retaining veto power over any decision.

Rossal wrote: 09 Sep 2025, 07:44 Mad decision. Nuno done a great job there.

They've gone near the PSR line but with Europa league revenue they should be ok i think?  They also sell alot of players to Lyon who have similar owners so get around PSR that way. Got the Elanga sale also. Dodgy as fuck but look at the nutjob owners track record hardly surprising.
There's just no way they can keep spending 85% of their day-to-day revenues on wages, though. Because the rest of their operations will cost more than 15%. So at some point they're heading for a big breach - unless they sell But they can't sell too many at a loss, and that seems to be behind some of the rows. Not that Nuno is some sort of accountant, but as a manager he just wanted some certainty (if they get into trouble, they might have to offload Chris Wood, for example, which any Forest manager would want to avoid). Which nobody is going to get with that chairman.
Their revenues will go up though with the Europa.  They do sell, mainly to Lyon for inflated prices who the ownership structure of Forest also have a stake in.  The only team more bent than them when it comes to PSR and transfers is Chelsea.

But i must admit their transfer incomings last few seasons has been incredibly impressive.
