Nigels West Ham vs Palace | PL | 20.9.25 | Predictions and Match Thread

Post stubbo-admin »

Well, after the false dawn of Nottingham Forest, and coming crashing back down to earth against Palace, we sit 4 defeats from 5 for the season so far.

Potter is under increasing pressure (despite the usual 'we back the manager' horse shit from the Club) and it's clear that "contingency plans" are being established, with a series of uninspiring names being thrown into the public domain....Bilic, Dyche, Nuno, O'Wall...the real next level fraternity of the Football Manager commuity.

With protests planned before the game (see here for details if you want to join) it will undoubtedly be an interesting atmosphere at the toilet bowl.

This looks like a bad game to run into at this juncture, with the Nigels being proficient at corners, and having concended only once all season.  Only a win is really good enough, but a draw looks like it will buy him a trip to Everton to take on the Moyes millstone which continues to sit heavily round the necks of West Ham.

If Potter has a brain, he'll go not just for the win in this game, but for some vibes as well, with a selection that at the very least inspires interest. Unfortunately I suspect JWP is first name down, Hermansen continues his demonstration of why you don't stick a midget in goal, and Summerville misses out.

Wan Bissaka is out with a nasty case of the shits, Soucek starts the three game ban, but other than that we're expected to be at "full strength".  No doubt there'll be a temptation to look to match up the Palace formation with a return to 3 at the back, but it feels this would be a mistake.

Predicted Lineup:
Hermansen

Walker Peters;   Mavropanos;    Kilman;     Diouf

JWP;   Magassa;

Bowen;         Paqueta;         Fernandes

Wilson;
Subs:  Areola, Todibo, Igor, Scarles, Irving, Rodriguez, Summerville, Guilherme, Fullkrug

Predicted outcome: West Ham 0 - 2 Crystal Palace (Mateta 2)

Hurry up and sack the useless twat,  Sullivan, then cough up a short term contract for Bilic as no one else decent enough wants it now, you clueless wanker for putting us in this position.

Rumour Dyche was discussed but wanted a 'proper' contract, unlike O'Wall and Bilic, who were prepared to take a 'until the end of the season, cos we don't really want you' deal.

Sullivan continues to spaff up the wall Kretinsky’s investment, he should be fucking livid. Should pull his finger out of his arse and have a major say in who’s appointed next because sure as eggs is eggs I don’t trust Sullivan and Brady to get it right. If Nuno’s Sullys choice I can’t say I’m encouraged.

Expecting Sullivan to procrastinate to the International Break and hope someone else swoops in for the expensive Nuno first, allowing him to go for the much cheaper,.much more controllable Bilic or O'Wall

Glasner takes off a defensive midfielder Wharton for a striker Nketiah when they are ahead thinking we have to attack
CockPiss confounds him by taking off Fernandes & Summerville for a defensive midfielder & leaves JWP on

First time I’ve heard SACKED IN THE MORNING by our fans at our manager at home for a while
Everyone has had enough and it’s long overdue because we are piss poor & getting worse
P45 tonight surely ?

I reckon he goes after the Everton game if as expected we lose.  I agree, he needs to have gone already. There is no evidence to suggest otherwise.

But Sullivan is “penny wise, pounds foolish” and 6 months pay for Potter and team, plus costs of employing Nuno or whoever and their teams and even having to agree to spend in Jan, means he will hold off yet another game if at all possible in desperate hope we win. Also the boycott for Brentford being planned might be enough.  Sully hoping that can be minimised if he bins Potter just before?  Its insane I realise but this is Sullivan, the worst owner in world football.

Sullivan might soend if they are his “gifts” to the manager.

Of course staying up is the only objective for any manager coming in. This is fucking obvious. You looked at the table lately? One thing is for sure, this cսnt Potter is taking us down. They're gonna have to pay him for six months or so to get rid. Its peanuts. He's surely gone by the end of the weekend. There's no logical reason not to. But why not right fuckin now? Do it live on the telly. Humiliate the cսnt. I suspect Brady might fuck off too after this episode if she has a single molecule of class in her. So perhaps not then.

Brady's still trying to find him but she's struggling since Soucek and Fullkrug taped him to the ceiling of the dressing room with Wilsons jockstrap stuffed in his gob. Think of the episode in Bottom.

Watching West Ham is like watching U11 football.

we can’t defend a corner or a cross to save our lives.

We have needed a center half, midfielder with pace and a center forward or fuck knows how long.

The biggest ricket is this new goal keeper, he really is at u11 standard.

This level of incompetence is criminal.

I have no faith in any of them.

Duke Sullivans priority will be cost avoidance. He is ironically desperate for Potter to succeed until end of season when he can sack him with no financial penalty

The mindset of a man that has consistently shown he knows “the cost of everything and value of nothing”.  He made money by porn and thrn investing in property.  Lots of people have been successful in the latter industry so its hardly about business acumen and know how.

Sullivan is a very wealthy fvckwit in the world of football and in most business senses. Trump is similar. Wealthy but not thru high intelligence.

SO much that was wrong with that performance - yet again. So any analysis is going to be highly selective, because we just watched below-average performances in almost every aspect of the game (with the exception of Bowen, who looks like a Rolls Royce in a Southend garage in that side).

But our basic defending is just shocking - particularly, but not exclusively, from set pieces. Not even mid-Championship level stuff. Routinely.

Kilman is one of the worst footballers I have ever seen at West Ham. The fact that we paid £40m for him only reinforces how utterly useless those in charge at the club have been for years. He should never pull on a West Ham shirt again - yet we're lumped with him for five more seasons after this one, and at 100k a week. He can't run, he can't tackle, he can't head the ball, he can't jump, he can't pass, he's not physical enough. Truly an abysmal player. We MUST have a youth team player better than him. They'd only need to be competent at one aspect of their game to be a better player.

And, after all the noise during the summer transfer window about finding some "legs" in midfield: where are they? Too often, we were second to everything today. Yet again. I'm not going to dig out Fernandes and Magassa, as they've barely kicked a ball for us - and I hope they turn into fine players. But neither of them appears to be especially quick from what we have seen so far. They likely have other attributes (Fernandes at least is able to beat the press with his good technique), so I won't criticise. But where's the pace that everybody knew we needed in central midfield? We've still got Ward-Prowse puffing away, five meters behind the action, starting every game.

It's a pretty hopeless situation right now. We need a bit of a miracle to stay up, bearing in mind we're lumped with this group of players until at least January. Possibly beyond if we are now skint.

Moyesball means defending first and we look shot to bits at the back right now. We've made some horrendous mistakes in the transfer market, hoofing millions in buying defenders, midfielders and now a goal keeper that just aren't up to the PL level. If you told me this time last year that this season Mavropanos would be considered Mr. Reliable when compared to the rest at the back id have rolled around laughing.

Big job for the next manager

Ironically, Nuno is the only manager whose team Potter has beaten this season. But yes, his record in the Premier League is decent, and he’s out of work, so he fits the bill. He’s probably the best option for us right now.

Sullivan will probably sit on his hands as usual though.

We have failed imo Dreaming becsuse of the reasons you cite.  You need a strategy covering organisation, recruitment, scouting and a budget to back it up. A leader at the top driving us forward. We have Sullivan.   We havent done that and never will under Sullivan.  So we flip flop back again to Moyesball style low block to survive becsuse Sullivan will go for who’s out of work with Prem experience. And right now he will see the best
 option to be Nuno

Forest were hardly boring or dull under Nuno.

Effective counter attacking football is exciting when it's getting results. Same as Peak Moyes with us, no one was complaining then.

Awful result. No fight, no leaders.

It is likely Nuno and back to MoyesBall.

The Circle of Life, as Elton John once sang so beautifully.
