The Price of Love - Bryan Ferry - original - The Everly Brothers

Re: Covered songs better than the original.
Is it considered to be a cover version when someone does a different version of a song that they did with a previous band?
I can think of a few of these:-
Motörhead. Motorhead
Motorhead Lost Johnny
Motorhead. The Watcher. All three are old Hawkwind songs
Marillion. Dry Land
Blackmore’s Night. Self Portrait. (originally a Rainbow song)
Peter Barden. Spirit of the Water. (Originally by Camel)
Hawkwind Starflight/Ejection. (originally on a Robert Calvert solo album)

Put another way, have you ever heard the original version and preferred it to a later version which you had heard first?
For instance, I can't stand the Ferry version of Jealous Guy which I heard after the Lennon version. However I prefer the Bowie version of Wild Is The Wind to that by Johnny Mathis.
Have you ever changed your mind?
Yes I would agree with that. In the examples I listed, in almost all of them I heard the cover version first.
although I’m always astonished when anyone actually says they prefer John Lennon’s version of Jealous Guy

Re: Covered songs better than the original.
Sorry what's cheating; knowing that Golden Brown was written by the Stranglers and pointing it out to you after you'd posted that it was a cover and then you compounded it by posting a clear mash up of Dave Brubecks Take 5 video and someone elses instrumental version of it?
I'll take that as an admission of utter stupidity and an apology.
Stupid twat!

This may be sacrilige for some on here but I found George Michael's version of Roxanne so different from the 'Police' original that it was well worth a listen.
