The excuse we keep hearing is they cant cut it in the league. But when Brighton and Bournemouth get the same type of foreign players for far less than we do, they seem to work for them in the same league. How does that make sense?
Because they have a system and a long term strategy for player recruitment clearly defined and they are bold enough to invest in young players on the confidence they will develop as they need under good coaching over the course of either a few months or even a few years. We have a manager telling Sullivan what he needs and then Sullivan ripping it up and buying players by chucking darts at the wall, greasing his mates' palms or just looking for the cheaper (and 'safer') alternatives that play in the same position regardless of whether they are suitable or not and then lumbering the manager with those instead all of whom are expected and needed to make an immediate impact. Oh and we have no system or long term strategy so we just lurch from one thing to another with each manager wanting completely different attributes in players and inheriting a bunch he can't particularly use.
Or to put it layman's terms, they'd buy a player like Fernandes two years earlier than us for probably 3-4 million quid and give him time in a clear role to succeed. We buy a player like Fernandes a year or two for too late for ten times that amount, mixed with random Sully specials who are more often than not of absolutely no use to the team and parachute them all together in an imbalanced and underperforming side in circumstances that are difficult to succeed in.

Re: Midweek football
What same type of foreign player?
Aguerd was getting rag dolled, and had no heart for the fight in this league. Short of injecting his bollocks with testosterone, what the fuck was anyone supposed to do?
And once again, HE REFUSED TO PLAY. Twice. It's irrelevant what the reasons were, or whether you believe it, it happenred, and it's unforgivable, but it's no surprise it doesn't bother you, as you've never attended a West Ham game in your life, so you can just shrug your shoulders.
Keep on pining away for this fucking flake every time you read about him, it's utterly pointless, but it keeps the traffic up on here I s'pose.

I'd rather play the 60 year old housewife than Kilman.
Regardless, you can't play someone who refuses to play for you.

I'd still happily have a disinterested weak, flaky, couldn't win a header, and had the strength of an anaemic 60 year old housewife Aguerd over Kilman, I reckon.

Aguerd refused to play for us twice. When he could be bothered to play, he was weak, flaky, couldn't win a header, and had the strength of an anaemic 60 year old housewife.
Why bother trying to find other reasons why he was shit? We had all this when he first moved to Spain, after a few games apparently Real Madrid wanted him, they all realised he was bang average (even in a league where you can get away with being a weak spinless minge) hence not a single Spanish club was interested come the summer.
He's gone, move on ffs. Be thankful we somehow managed to get some money from the down-tools cսnt.

Forgetting the fact he was absolutely fucking dogshit whenever he played for us, he also REFUSED TO PLAY FOR US. Twice (TWICE) for fuck sake. How can you not get that through your head?
What are you suggesting we should have done, begged him to actually earn the ridiculous amount of money we were paying him, in the hope he would be arsed to pull on the shirt and actually fucking try? He was weak an insipid on the occasions he actually agreed to play for us, bless him. Fucking hell.
I’m pointing out that our shit managers have binned off good players because they are shit at managing the team. That’s all.
but fans tend to blame the players and rumours are created about how disruptive they are etc when it’s mostly bollocks rumors designed to justify us binning the player. What’s even worse is we sell them for far less than they are worth because our managers are shit.

Re: Midweek football
Just noticed that Aguerd was playing in a back 3 for Marseille in their win over PSG yesterday. And already has 2 goals and 2 clean sheets over there. Emerson also playing. Our whole left side of defense.
On the other hand we kept Kilman who I think has played in every defeat we’ve had…

Thankfully, Man Utd will comfortably beat Burnley, to keep Amorimjob employed for a little while longer.

Fucking hell, Burnley are the Grim Reaper Team. When they roll in to Town it usually kicks right off. If Radcliffe has any sense he'd stay in the corporate box for this one.

Re: Midweek football
West Ham 4 Manchester United 0 By Duncan Bech, Press Association Sport
West Ham dumped holders Manchester United out of the Carling Cup with a stunning victory inspired by Jonathan Spector's first goals in English football.
Spector had never scored during his six seasons in the Barclays Premier League but the USA defender struck twice to end United's unbeaten start to the season.
Further damage was done by Carlton Cole after the interval with the England marksman pouncing twice to bring feeble United crashing back down to earth after their 7-1 drubbing of Blackburn.
Spector and Cole were brilliantly supported by Victor Obinna with the Nigerian forward, on loan from Inter Milan, having a hand in each goal.
Sir Alex Ferguson made 10 changes to the side that hammered Blackburn last weekend with only Anderson remaining, but the manner of this defeat will still prove difficult to stomach.
Experience was supplied by the likes of Ryan Giggs, Darren Fletcher and John O'Shea but they also wilted in the face of West Ham's onslaught.
Those who had braved the arctic conditions at a near-sold out Upton Park enjoyed a night of high drama, the benefit of which could be felt in the Hammers' Premier League survival bid.
Manager Avram Grant has proved something of a cup specialist but while he will be delighted to see his side through to the semi-finals, he will be just as pleased at having strung together successive victories that could inspire a climb up the table
Wigan were dispatched 3-1 last weekend but Grant made six changes with captain Scott Parker on the bench despite suffering from a chest infection.
There was little sign of the carnage to come early on when the holders were denied the lead by the woodwork with Robert Green showing lightning reflexes to push Gabriel Obertan's shot on to the post.
Anderson expertly picked out Giggs but the Welsh winger's delivery into the box was poor and the ball looped away harmlessly.
Controversy reigned in the 16th minute when West Ham scored through Obinna - only to have the goal ruled out for offside.
Obinna's shot deflected off Spector and the linesman had made the correct decision, but the Hammers were incensed.
Players queued up to demonstrate with referee Mark Clattenburg, who then warned Grant after the Israeli hurled the ball away in disgust after it had gone out of bounds.
Any sense of injustice was soon remedied, however, when Spector nodded West Ham ahead.
Obinna supplied an exquisite chip that Spector, having crept inside Fletcher, headed into the net.
Emboldened by their goal, West Ham attacked with greater conviction but were almost caught by a United counter that ended with a tame header from Obertan.
Cole almost got the better of Fabio before James Tomkins angled a corner wide and in the 37th minute the home side's ascendancy was rewarded once more.
The hapless Fabio was involved as his attempted block of Obinna's shot instead fell into the path of Spector who blasted home from close range.
A header from Bebe was easily saved by Green but most of the action continued to take place at the other end.
A dreadful blunder from Green, who until now had looked rock-solid, almost let United in with his clearance hitting the back of Federico Macheda.
The ball deflected into the path of Javier Hernandez but reinforcements arrived for the Hammers to clear the danger in the nick of time.
United were pouring forward as the expected fightback began in earnest, only to be halted in their tracks in the 55th minute when they were caught on the break.
The superb Obinna was the supplier with his inch-perfect cross met by Cole, who headed the ball home.
There was still more to come from West Ham, however, as little over 10 minutes later Cole slammed home his second after being set up by Obinna.
Zavon Hines had a strong penalty shout rejected by Clattenburg after being shoved in the back by O'Shea, but West Ham had the result wrapped up long ago.
Teams:
West Ham Green, Faubert, Tomkins (Reid 74), Upson, Ben-Haim, Barrera (Hines 76), Kovac, Spector, Boa Morte, Cole (Stanislas 89), Obinna.

Booked: Reid.
