DT's work on the 70s John Martyn albums was the reason I learned to play double bass.

Anyone who knows owt about music knows who Danny Thompson is.

To be fair, mate, great man though he is, he's not really know for his contribution to modern music, but if you want him in, I'm also happy to add Thompson and Thompson.

As the original gripe was limiting RIP threads to people we might know, my suggestion was to make a forum master list, so RIP threads in future will only be posted for people we know. To be thorough we should really include people of ALL professions and ALL surnames.

Only in this way can we be sure not to frivolously post an RIP for a person that somebody hasn't heard of.

Saw him loads of times with John Martyn. Great player and very funny bloke. The between songs banter between the usually very drunk Danny and John was hilarious and outrageous.

Sorry to hear this. One of those unsung 'backbone' people that has played on so much over the years.

Obviously a highlight was playing on the Thunderbirds theme back in the 60s. Top work!
