Hes still listed as staff on the website. He'd be fucking stupid to resign his well paid job over cock piss going, he probably helped push him under the bus. The club would be stupid to sack him, as i think hes done ok so far. Everyone has known for a couple of years a complete rebuild is needed, but will take probably 3, 4, 5 transfer windows. Potters job was to play to our strengths in the meantime and he couldnt do it.

Was he an over-promoted data analyst? If he's the best DA in the business then he might be useful to keep on in future solely in that role as the head of department but if he was over promoted to a sort of Director of Football role without portfolio and not really knowing how to that then whose fault is that?

He's head of recruitment as in leads the recruitment department....which is essentially this the Team Leader to a set of data analysts, making player recommendations and working to sell the Club to the agents of those players. So e invovlement in deal negotiation.

Unless he's actually shit at most of that, totally pointless to sack him.  If we say he helped in Diouf, Magassa, Fernandes...those are also decent, young, adaptable and appreciating assets the club has signed with their best years ahead of them. 

Getting another 3 of those next window would be ideal.

Given the job title the club gave Macaulay I imagine that sticking him in an office somewhere with no input into recruitment would amount to constructive dismissal anyway.

I really don't like the idea of agents having too much influence but it's pretty amazing some of the players Nuno managed to bring in to an unfashionable midlands club. Diogo Jota and Ruben Neves when they were in the Championship, Vitinha on loan, Pedro Neto, Ait-Nouri, Semedo, etc.

Mendes clearly had a lot to do with most of Nuno's signings and a lot of them made a lot more profit for the club than Salthouse's ones have done for us.

I reckon Sullivan and Nuno will be fine. Sully will want to pick one out of every 3 or 4 signings and Nuno will probably be fine with that, as long as he gets to pick the others.

There’s no point in incurring the cost of sacking Macauley. I do actually think the cheaper option is smart here. Just pop him in an office somewhere. 

We will now get linked with some decent young players. And Sullivan will baulk at all of them in favour of his geriatric walking wounded as usual. Maybe Mendes will scare salthouse off. That would be nice. Anyway I reckon the whole thing comes crashing down inside 18 months even if the results are decent because Sullivan won’t be able to let go of his bad habits and worst instincts.

Sullivan v Mendes is going to be quite a battle. They will fall out over agent fees. And, don’t forget, as things stand Sullivan is back in charge of transfers. It’ll get interesting.

Absolutely. Save the compo until potter gets another job. Which to be fair could be a while after this. 

It certainly won't be any Premier League job now. He'd struggle to get a Championship one unless they are as desperate as we were. League Two is about his true level on a par with Ostersunds.

Yeah, he's out. Not much point keeping him on as his stated role was to act as a conduit for Potter.

He'd stayed on at Chelsea after Potter left, but his job title at the time was chief analyst. He's not a head of recruitment, despite the title we gave him.
