Rice was immense for the Arse today. Covered every blade of grass and did so much covering.

A lot of our issues are down to  not replacing him with at least a player with a similar profile. Someone with an engine, covers ground quickly and who works tirelessly in midfield. 

Since he went we have brought in Alvarez, JWP. Rodruiguez and now Fernandes and Magassa.  Magassa looks to be closest to Rice in terms of interceptions snd winning midfield duels but he doesnt look as athletic .  Hopefully he grts to grips with the pacs and physical needs of the Prem lge very quickly

There's not a great deal Pope could do after he successfully got a toe to the ball, he couldn't suddenly evaporate. He wasn't reckless lunging in putting the Striker in danger, made himself as big as possible and unfortunately for the Striker because he got a touch of the ball, you can't then give a foul when his momentum takes him in to the Keeper. And even then Pope's trying to lean out of it so he doesn't get clattered worse. 

What's funnier is say Newcastle gor on to win this, with all the bad blood in the past reharding VAR between the two sides, Legohead is odds on blowing his lego hair off his head post match which will be entertaining. 

I'm one of VAR's harshest critics but that's not a Penalty from what I saw of the incident.

Never a Penalty. Pope did well to get a nick of the ball and stay as big as possible without trying to foul the Gooner striker, then the contact happened after his toe touched the ball. Naturally legoheads doing his pieces, but fuck him.

yesterday VAR made mistakes at Brentford (red card), Palace (salah handball) & Chelsea (penalty not given).
