Not my first choice, wish we were more forward looking and all that. But he's here, and to be honest, he's probably what we need given everything we all know is wrong with the club and the team at present.

Positives are he was a goalkeeper, so he'll surely make the best decision on that front going forward. Hermansen has looked shocking, but those that had watched him regularly all rated him, so who knows, maybe in a different set up he might not be so bad, but expect Areloa to be first choice.

Brought Kilman into the Wolves team, and built him into a player we were stupid enough to pay £40mil for. Can't see if myself, but maybe he'll make him look competent, whatever way, the defence will improve under him. It can't not. And set pieces against us won't feel like penalty's.

He favours attacking fullbacks who get forward, and ours are suited to that. JWP won't start from now. The biggest positive of this appointment. He loves wingers, and we have one of the best in the league in Bowen, a rapid one in Summerville, and Guilherme will hopefully get some game time as back up in a style that will suit him. Fullkrug can maybe be our Chris Wood. Probably not, but lets hope so.

Ovbviously he's a counter attacking manager, but I don't think he's from the last 2 years of Moyes playbook. Hopefully it'll be the early version of Moyes, with quicker pressing and faster counter attacking. Let's fucking hope so. I remember Forest beating someone 7-0, and they scored loads of goals throughout the season.

The main problem remains, but fucking hell, this change was needed.

Interesting that a week in he's yet to appoint any of his coaching staff and stated that he's currently happy working with the youth coaches, who brief him of the ethos and culture of the club.

He's currently saying all the right things so let's hope he's not another pretender, the law of averages must surely means that the odds are in our favour of getting one right

I don't think Nuno has been talking big at all, think everything so far has been very measured, it's not been too cliched, delivers like he means business. 

I like the cut of his jib, let's hope he turns us into a good team.

He won't get much work from the "free kick" side of that academy. He should have set that up before 2023.

I do agree that he seems like a decent fella. I think various managers coached any intent out of him. For years now, he's just seemed content to pass sideways or backwards for 90 minutes. It's now instinctive, which is what Nuno has seen and doesn't like.

 

He started off great, it was like whatever he brought to west ham was coached out of him. No wonder no one wants to sign for us, it's a career graveyard.

 

 

I said as the season progressed that Ward-Prowse was becoming victim of being Moysed. It's happened so many times that Moyes has that effect. His numbers contributing towards goals were very good up to around the turn of the year but eventually dry up more the end of  the season nears in all competitions. 

I do feel however that now he's coming up to 31 in a couple of weeks he is struggling more to keep up. January would be a good time for all concerned to move him on now.

It’s reassuring to hear that Nuno takes no nonsense from his squad. By contrast one of the things that came out about the Bilic stewardship, especially the relegation threatened time,  was how relatively lax players and staff were at training.

Moyes would not put up with laxity, not sure about Loppy and Potter appeared too touchy feely for me.

Nuno knows JWP can't hack it so there's no future for him as regards to Todibo Potts senior and Robson probably gave Nuno the run down and that was enough for Nuno.

Maybe...but I think he's smart enough to suss out that Todibo might be a problem for him. Regardless of how underwhelming Lopetegui and Potter reigns have panned out on the pitch both have had serious issues with him which doesn't bode well for the future.

Nuno has a reputation for not tolerating that sort of nonsense. He's a nice guy up to a certain point but he won't put up with somebody who ain't on board. That is non negociable.

Good points Scorch. Todibo I fear will not fit Nuno’s tactics. Leaving aside attitude for a moment, Todibo was bought to be a ball playing CB that brings it out from the back and can play thru the lines to a deep lying forward or midfielder. He had the best stats across Europe for that. Sadly he didnt even manage that in the West Ham team but having a weak, very slow midfield didnt help. 

Todibo is not strong in 1 to 1 duels and he was not famed for his physicality. His aerial ability is poor too. He just doesnt fit the need for CBs that will sit deeper in Nuno’s counter attacking approach.  Could Nuno and coaching team develop him to improve the physical side , ability in the air? Possibly but unlikely imo.  He’d ( Todibo) possibly be more suited to playing in midfield in a low block and fast counter attack system?  

So the odds are on him being sold for galf what we paid for him in Jan or the summer. Its what happrns when the owners have no long term plan or vision. We oscilate from one footballing style to another via appointing totally different kinds of managers sinply because they are out of work and available. Its cost us in the hundreds of millions I reckon. Another damning indictment of how Sullivan and Brady run the club

I think it was both a football decision, and a stamp of authority. A message to all the players.

After having that PE teacher and his KUMB approach to management, worrying about everyone's feelings, Nuno has bowled in with a bit of WHO swagger.

It was the 'for the good of the squad' bit that was interesting. I wonder if JWP's continued inclusion was pissing the other players off and causing issues. More of a Potter issue than a JWP one if that's the case and probably quite embarrassing for the player. Or he was a troublemaker behind the scenes or fucking kicked off about being dropped/Nuno rocking up. You never know, but he doesn't seem to be that sort of bloke. 

Either way assuming he's not been a cock I feel for him a bit as he seems an amiable bloke and definitely tried his best, but he just can't cut it and his one strength in set pieces has completely deserted him in the last 18 months rendering him completely superfluous to the team. Like Soucek would be if he never scored any goals.
However it was plain to all of us he had to be dropped from the side if we were to get any better at all. It'll always be a complete mystery to me why he kept picking him with unwavering faith. I'd love to know. Only thing I can think of is that he was the most 'loyal' player- but you cannot pick people based upon that.

Anyway, Nuno has done what needed to be done immediately on arrival for the good of the team in terms of improving and it showed on the pitch after only two day. I hope he can slap Todibo into shape as well, and get him to stop being a cսnt and get something out of him.

Free swing at Arsenal this weekend so I hope he goes the 'nothing to lose' and anything more than 0 points is a bonus so let's go for it if we get opportunities route rather than the Moyes attitude of retreating to our own box and grimly trying to hang on for 0-0 from kick off.
