It will have been 16 days since we saw what football at the top end of things could look like by Arsenal, who made us look second class citizens in footballing terms.

This game is unusual this season, in so far as the bookies have us down as favourites to win.  Monday nigth, under the lights....but how empty will the bowl be.  With a boycott planned, kids for a quid, general sale tickets up for cheap, and Nuno's first home game, the atmosphere and attendance is anyone's guess.

Injuries wise, our Big Fucking German is big fucking injured again...reducing the options up front to the two Callum's.  Nuno chose to save ~86k in wages last time out, preferring the pace and mobility of Marshall over Wilson, and it will be interesting to see if he does the same thing here, or goes for a 'makeshift' centreforward.  And of course Soucek is back.

Other than that, there are no fresh concerns reported going into the weekend.

Predicted Starting Lineup:
Areola

Wan Bissaka   Mavropanos    Kilman    Diouf

Magassa

Fernandes             Soucek       Paqueta       Summerville

Bowen (c)
Subs: Hermansen, KWP, Igor, Potts, Guilherme, Marshall, Rodriguez, Wilson, Scarles

Predicted Score: 1-0 (Soucek)

Even in the bad days of the late 70s I never felt this depressed.

We were pretty dire back then but we knew that in Bonds, Brooking, Lampard and Devonshire we had some quality and fight, we also had a manager who was more than competent and a ground that was a nightmare for opposition teams.

We have none of that now. I wouldn’t give a shit if every player was sold and I include Bowen in that.

Relegation means we get to see Potts, Orford, Earthy etc etc etc. Lads who give a fuck.

It was almost a carbon copy of last season at home to Brentford. Same inability to deal with straight balls over the stop and a complete inability to compete physically.

im still a bit shocked at how bad we were, i swear they were on a wind up.

Think we were all expecting much better than that after Nuno spending some time with the squad.

Could not work out what Paqueta roll was meant to be last night.

the players hate playing at the cesspit but the opposition love it.

I thought Brentford were in trouble after losing Wissa Mbuemo and Frank.

but there team was better all over the pitch. Bowen and Summerville with no target man to work with. Didn’t trouble their defence at all. They looked like mountains in comparison to our attacking 3.

Henderson at 35 still bossed the middle of the park and more importantly they properly replaced outgoing players. Wissa out. No problem, Thiago comes in.

not signing a proper ST is making relegation firmly on the cards!

I checked the stats (only a betting site) towards the end of the game, brentford were almost double in every category and this, a team managed by keith andrews (who was a workhorse player, at best). it's just beyond embarrassing now, how badly we're run and the championship is what that four foot cսnt deserves

I could hardly understand Carragher the scouse cսnt, but fucking hell he was damn right about everything.
Finally a pundit tearing into Sullivans's management, and calling us what we are. Shockingly bad and absolutely battered at home against Brentford, not Man C or Arsenal, no Brentford!

I've said it so many time before I'm getting sick of it. Kilman, Paqueta, Soucek has to be dropped from a starting lineup.
Irving, Rodriguez, Jwp is not the answer either.

We are going down, so start playing Potts, Phaeron, Marshall regularly to give them experience, they will need it next year.

And for the fans, this stadium should be fucking empty week in, week out until Sullivan is out

Agreed Ron, fucking bizarre all round.  I felt sorry for Scarles, hasn’t kicked a ball all year and played at RB and looked awkward.
the CB problem is the reason we will get relegated this year.  You just cannot be throwing the ball in your own net which is basically what we do with this bunch.  It’s Sunday league stuff.  That first goal is exactly how not to defend a long straight ballS. Laughable

I just can’t work out what he was thinking last night.

Against Everton we looked, in parts at least, pretty competent. While we were beaten comfortably at Arsenal, we at least didn’t capitulate. What on earth made him think on that back of those two games he needed to change three of the back four, including playing a young left back at right back and a natural right back at left back and Todibo alongside Kilman when both are shit scared of heading the football. What sort of shit centre backs can’t deal with long forward pass down the middle? These absolute jokers.

What made him think leaving Soucek and Irving on at half time, and taking Fernandes off was the right play? Sure, Fernandes wasn’t brilliant, but at least he has something. Soucek was particularly shit last night.

I want to see Marshall get chances, but last night wasn’t that time. It needed an experienced head, and love him or loathe him, Wilson should have been on.

All utterly bizarre and he’s fortunate he only has to wait until Friday to put it right, and that game has become absolutely must win.

Back to the centre halfs, with Mavropanos seemingly injured now, Igor CANNOT be worse than the other two. Get him in.

Relegation beckons and no more than we deserve, seem to have replaced Potter with another confused beard scratcher looking lost and devoid of idea to fix the mess we are in. LOL

Nuno interview hardly inspiring. Said we were good for 15 mind then Brentford dominated. Ssid players did not win their duels and rounded off daying we have to improve many things.  Well “no shit Sherlock!!”.

He looked shell shocked and just got to hope he could see we aint quick or physically strong enough as s team and especially in midfield.  Id be calling up Preston Fearon and Kante into the squad in place of Irvine and Guido.  We have to overload that midfield while we gave no striker and fragile CBs.

As said it’s astounding that Mavropanos is currently our best centre back (did his hamstring at the end) & Wilson our best striker

In the meantime we have spent about £110m on Kilman ,Todibo & Fullkrug

Carragher at least gets what the protests are about. Tonight has been a disaster for anyone hoping we would be able to soon get out of a relegation fight this season but a huge success for the protest in some ways. The empty seats were clearly visible, little to non existent support in terms of singing, chanting etc ( not helped by the manager and team of course ) just shined a huge spotlight on the issues of the stadium and the club as a whole.  Sullivan and Brady have nowhere to hide other than at Talksport.

Wolves have got firepower once they get going. We are mostly powder puff apart from Bowen up front. It aint looking at all good right now.

You always hope for the best but from what I have seen we are comfortably the worst team in the league
The 3 promoted teams are competitive & from the little I’ve seen of Wolves they are more of a threat … they have beaten us in the league cup of course
Like many on here I’ve seen several relegated West Ham teams & this is as bad as any of them
Little or no goal threat, can’t defend & out run & out fought in midfield
At the moment we are finishing 20th trailing away relegated by Easter

That was an absolute thrashing tonight and the scoreline totally obscures the difference between the two teams. One of the worst WHU home performances that I have witnessed.

Only 1 poxy shot on target at Home and he only decides to finally play a Striker with half an hour to go having previously made 3 defensive substitutions at half time. Cunts trolling us. 😂

So long as Nuno learns from it, that might be a very poor consolation but Im not sure he will?

We were dominated in midfield, that was the biggest issue. The CBs and crazy full back selections added to it but once they were changed, we were still dominated in the middle of the park. We need numbers and legs in there.  Makes us far more compact out of possession.  When will a manager see that Paqueta has to play deeper? Magassa and Potts have to be picked ahead of Soucek, Guido and Irvine. Its so obvious.  Is it that bowl that deceives the eyes so they cannot see the lack of athleticism in the middle?  I guess tonight Nuno paid fir his crazy experiment having to sub 3 defenders and hence he couldnt replace 2 centre mids too. So left Soucek and Irvine on and then brought on an attacker. The most worrying thing was the late sub of Guido to fix an overrun midfield.  He aint suited to the Prem  Lge without a 2 athletes alongside and we dont have any in midfield. Its what restricts us so much. Magassa is strong but aint quick. So the huge gap Rice left remains which is why we will have overload in that area playing 3 or even 4.

Agree with Sir Alf and El Scorch. 451/433 is our only option right now with a minimum of three in central midfield. That's where Paqueta plays/played for Brazil for Pete's sale, why can fans see this but not manager? It's damage limitation sadly because we don't have two players who can hold the fort in there. As said below Rice papered over the cracks in there. I just don't see how scouts and the club can go from selling an all rounder midfielder in Rice and then getting in the likes of Guido Rodriguez! Like for like surely. It's always the same. Antonio does well for years as a striker but we try and replace him with bean poles that can't move! Didn't rate him particularly but would have been interesting to have seen if Nuno fancied Alvarez. At least he put a foot in albeit a bit over enthusiastically at times.
