Well after the disaster of Monday at Brentford, the thought of more West Ham in the same week is enough to put anyone in a bad mood.  The 'pros' always talk about wanting to get bad games out of their system quickly, and this gives them that opportunity, but also sets up a horrible start to the weekend for the rest of us!

Teamwise, Mavro is out with what looked a nasty hamstring injury.  Fullkrug is still broken, and Earthy remains unfit.  Otherwise the rest of the squad are fit from a health perspective....maybe less so from a 'wear the shirt' angle.

Nuno's logic for his inverted fullbacks it's been revealed was to try and counter Brentford's inverted wing thread, by showing them onto the defender's strong foot...the less said about the success of that the better.  And it struggles to explain Irving and Soucek in the pivot, beyond maybe 'they're both tall'.

Anyway, hopefully that's the last of the experimentation and we can revert to what at least appears a bit less shit.  Wouldn't surprise me to see him go with a back 5 in this game though (and what I'll assume for my predicted XI).

The squad is now a real quandary.  We don't have a good CB pairing...Todibo looks hopeless, Kilman and Igor both left footed, with one an unknown and the other weak as the senior CB.  Mavro was signed to be 3rd choice, but he's suddenly the most important man in the back line...a problem in itself.

Summerville is a must have...the only true pace in the side so leaving him out can't be compromised.  If 3 at the back and 3-4-3 was viable, not a problem....but once again we don't have a midfield with a logical two-man pairing.  Add in that Bwoen and Soucek are the only goals, and Paqueta is the only real 'vision' and we are in a bad place with a squad that don't work in combination.

So will he gamble on a bad back two, an untried midfield pair, or leave out one of the 'key' players in Soucek, Bowen, Paqueta, and Summerville.

And as for playing a real striker....

Predicted Score: Leeds 2 : 0 West Ham.

I don’t know why but I decided to watch the last half hour. We were powderpuff up top which is just as much a concern as our weak defence and slow midfield.

Scarles apparently stated on the right again. Binned off after 25 minutes. A promising young career in ruins. Incredible when you compare him with Lewis Skelly.

 

 

 

 

He wasn't binned off. He dislocated his shoulder while being fouled which wasn't given.
He was likely about to be the sacrificial lamb anyway, because he was having a torrid time in a bonkers position/situation again

We said they 3 from those 4 should be the centre mid starters every game. Nuno proved it by picking just the 2 slowest we’ve got.  

Irvine is not PL level and its over for Soucek. A slow player even when young but time has caught up. 

Wilson has to play up top. A 33 year low old crock but yhe only forward we have. Leeds are awful though but we made them look good at times. Kilman and Scarles at fault for the goals but Soucek / Irvine I still cannot believe he started with them again? It looked like he deliberately wanted to make us as weak as possible im centre midfield? 

Other observations, Diouf aint a good one on one defender, our CBs are weak, Summerville should only be an impact sub not a starter. He did nothing much of note imo

The summary though is that the manager lost us that game and we are still destined to be relegated.

Yep, picking any one of Guido, JWP, Irving, Soucek immediately puts the team at a disadvantage. In the past we've actually had a combination of 3 out of those (minus the jock)

Paqueta clearly can't be arsed for his farewell season . Not that he's ever been arsed.

Difference being their cunty manager actually plays their kid in his rightful position. Scandelous what he's done to Scarles confidence and now out with a nasty injury it looks like trying too hard to get us back in to it with that late excellent run forward before being fouled.

Had Potter kept Potts in the Team from the start of the season following his decent Pre-season, I reckon it would have got us going with how he was calmly popping it about for fun. For Potter (and Nuno) to keep overlooking him has set our season right back. Keep him in the Team, the boy has got it!

Paqueta has never been that good for us. Apart from the Euro final and the assist. The rest of the time he msinly loses the ball and falls to the ground. The worst thing that happened was being charged at a time when we could have cashed in. Typical West Ham luck.

I kept saying we should have sold him when we could and yet we decide to keep the liability. Was gutted we never tried to get him out the door once the FA cleared him.

You can try as hard as you like to boil it down to the start of this seasons form which I haven't defended, just the bits where he hasn't "done fuck all" with clear examples of when he does. But you only want to hound a player out who has given everything to West Hams cause which I am very grateful for, even if you aint.
