What a difference a game made. Last week, despair and not knowing where the next scrappily won point would come from.  Fast forward 5 days, and there is expectation that we see off Burnley like the upstarts they are, that Nuno has found the 'formula' and it's onwards and upwards from here.

Of course, these things are rarely ever black or white, and somewhere in the middle is more likely, but with the emergence of Potts from his bench-shackles, a reinvigorated and impactful Paqueta supported by colleagues that could operate on his wave length, and the energy of Fernandes, there were at least glowing embers in the previously distinguished firepit.

The Burnley game will also see pre-match protestation, with the (as of now) 16,000 signature petition delivered to the Club in printed form at the end of a 'Stratford to the Stadium' protest march, which should hopefully see also a positive mood and energy spill over into support.

Team wise, Nuno has hinted at some knocks from the previous game...but training videos looked to show all the main protagonists in attendance except Wilson.

Predicted line-up.

Hard to see anything but enforced deviation from the team that beat Newcastle.  Wilson maybe a lingering doubt.  Kante, Golambeckis and Myers continue to train with the first team, so it will be interesting to see if someone like Kante with his presence and stature can show enough raw ability to push past others to a place on the bench in the coming weeks.
Areola

Wan Bissaka  Kilman  Todibo  Diouf

Potts  Fernandes

Bowen (C)    Paqueta   Summerville

Wilson (Soucek)

Subs:  Hermansen, Igor, Myers, KWP, Irving, Soucek, Guido, Guilherme, Magassa.
Predicted Score:

Things at West Ham rarely run smoothly.  It wouldn't surprise me to see Burnley get the first gut-punch of a goal, and for us to then have to scrap tooth and nail to get something from the game. They have a good solid midfield, and have been clinical in attack thus far.  In what feels like a must not lose game, I could see a draw as an outcome, but hopefully buoyed by the Newcastle result, we find a way to prevail.

West Ham 2 - 1 Burnley.
(Bowen, Summerville)

COYI!

That's right, why bring on a player who scored in our last game? I don't second-guess football managers as I have no experience of managing a football team,

Don't really agree. We aren't getting the control to let him be effective. Anything good we do do tends to start with him.

Back to how it was before they scored the first

Burnley dominating and we just give it back. We cannot match their pace and physicality

We are gonna concede another. Nuno needs to change things.

Is there a more passive and limp team in the PL than us?

Ron Eff" wrote: 08 Nov 2025, 15:55 It’s just incomprehensible how embarrassing Kilman is at defending crosses. I think there is genuine fear on heading the ball. What is he trying to achieve for their goal? Just be more aggressive and get your head to the ball first.

An old fashioned, head on everything, centre half has to be a priority. Ideally one that doesn’t have a ricket a game in him a la Mavropanos.
For the goal he just switches off. The guy drops off him almost 2 yards to create space...Kilman is probably thinking about his shopping list of something.

He's sadly that kid that drifts...needs someone relentlessly screaming at him to "wake up you cսnt".

Not been the best. Second to balls and not aggressive enough as a team. Bowen largely marked out the game so far. We give the ball back cheaply. Like to see more from a couple of these players.

True Ron, he’s a makeshift striker with no legs but his positioning is good  as in the goal where you see he gets his head up to make sure he is onside before Summerville shoots. He also uses his body well to be a nuisance even though he is very static.

Trouble is we are struggling to get and move the ball thru midfield and once we lose it we just dont have the legs and or workrate to press and get it back.

And who we got to come on as a game changer? Tommy thats it.

Like I said, I can see Paqueta getting a red.

For all that, can't think of a save Areola has had to make.

Yes - because Kilman's defending is taking Areola out of the game

Say what you like about Wilson, and I have said what I like and hated the signing, but given he and Ings are basically the same type of player, he’s showing how bad Ings actually was. Wilson has lost some pace, but his movement, you’d have to accept, is really good.

They ate controlling midfield and we still lack the legs to press and get the ball back.  Equally totally reliant on Summerville’s speed.  For the umpteenth year of saying it, we need more pace and physicality. Id give Magassa a run out and withdraw Paqueta who looks like a red card waiting to happen
