What a difference a game made. Last week, despair and not knowing where the next scrappily won point would come from.  Fast forward 5 days, and there is expectation that we see off Burnley like the upstarts they are, that Nuno has found the 'formula' and it's onwards and upwards from here.

Of course, these things are rarely ever black or white, and somewhere in the middle is more likely, but with the emergence of Potts from his bench-shackles, a reinvigorated and impactful Paqueta supported by colleagues that could operate on his wave length, and the energy of Fernandes, there were at least glowing embers in the previously distinguished firepit.

The Burnley game will also see pre-match protestation, with the (as of now) 16,000 signature petition delivered to the Club in printed form at the end of a 'Stratford to the Stadium' protest march, which should hopefully see also a positive mood and energy spill over into support.

Team wise, Nuno has hinted at some knocks from the previous game...but training videos looked to show all the main protagonists in attendance except Wilson.

Predicted line-up.

Hard to see anything but enforced deviation from the team that beat Newcastle.  Wilson maybe a lingering doubt.  Kante, Golambeckis and Myers continue to train with the first team, so it will be interesting to see if someone like Kante with his presence and stature can show enough raw ability to push past others to a place on the bench in the coming weeks.
Areola

Wan Bissaka  Kilman  Todibo  Diouf

Potts  Fernandes

Bowen (C)    Paqueta   Summerville

Wilson (Soucek)

Subs:  Hermansen, Igor, Myers, KWP, Irving, Soucek, Guido, Guilherme, Magassa.
Predicted Score:

Things at West Ham rarely run smoothly.  It wouldn't surprise me to see Burnley get the first gut-punch of a goal, and for us to then have to scrap tooth and nail to get something from the game. They have a good solid midfield, and have been clinical in attack thus far.  In what feels like a must not lose game, I could see a draw as an outcome, but hopefully buoyed by the Newcastle result, we find a way to prevail.

West Ham 2 - 1 Burnley.
(Bowen, Summerville)

That next run of fixtures is the stuff of nightmares given how poor we've been. If in January we can be where we are now,  about level with bottom three, a window to sign a couple of reinforcements with an easier run of fixtures to come then id take that right now.

Very happy with another win in the bag back to back. We really did need that to get out of the deep hole we were in. Well done all. Keep it going now we have some momentum.

What's nice is the we are scoring enough goals to make teams really think about how they approach us. I think under Potter you just knew we'd offer next to nothing in terms of scoring opportunities. Now defenders will have decide how much they want to push up against us. Which hopefully alleviates the pressure we've been under.

Yes it bit nervy, but we'e just won 2 games at home b2b when I think the last time we won at home was Feb?? Thats madness for us. Im happy!

Its one of those where you say " we won and got the points we need" and move on as it gets a lot harder for the next few games.

Result is all that matters in the end.

Entertaining game, the goals came in spite of our 'top' players having a bit of a'mare.

Very sporting and comradely of Areola to use the last moment of the game to make Dubravka feel less bad about his goalkeeping - it's that kind of benevolence that makes this club so widely loved.⚒

Don't know about squeaky bum at the end, more like the entire wind section of the Royal Philharmonic and all Beethoven's symphonies...at once.

Lets be honest, on the balance of play Burnley were the better side but ultimately their defence let them down a little more than ours.

As NYC says, we will remain in trouble without a Jan window addressing the lack of a striker, another CB and central midfielder with pace and strength.

But a win however fortuitous is all that matters.

MOTM Tommy Potatoe Salad Supersub Soucek
Other standouts: Paqueta, Fernandes, AWB and Todibo looked assured

Need to improve to get anything out the next run of fixtures but all in all a very good day 👍🙂

Fernandes is beginning to look a real player. Couldn’t care what he cost or that it was a slow start. Difficult for anyone under Potter.

Agree with Maverick. Igor looked like he can play. Should get more chances. Doubt he bottles a header.

Shame for Potts, he looked good again. Glad Magassa came in and showed he can cover him.

Soucek as an emergency striker is ideal. He’s knows where to be and is good for bringing the wingers in to play.

Diabolical goalkeeping at the death.

good win. We made hard work of it and Burnley could feel they deserved more on balance but we took our chances and I couldn't give a fuck.

We get a break now, Potts should recover and we get more time to solidify things on the training ground.

Guarded optimism. I still think we'll do well to beat the drop.

Only seen him have 4 touches of the ball but Igor looks far more composed on it than Kilman and Todibo

yes why not. He's more useful there than a midfield passenger. Again his goals are crucial to us.
