Sorry the post is late up.

After what feels like an age since we limped past Burnley, we're off to the seaside to take on many peoples favourite second team, Bournemouth.

All hussle, bustle and high intensity, Iraola's mob are the modern watch word for modern style, and there is plenty to be concerned about with talented forwards and great energy in the side.  But they've lost the last two, comprehensively against Villa, and if there is a good time to play them....maybe it's now.

After the last international break, Nuno went full Looney Tunes....let's hope for a modcum of sense this time around.

Predicted Lineup:

Hard to see beyond a team similar to the last few games, but with Paquéta suspended, all eyes will be on who replaces him from a squad devoid of any real creative influence.

No doubt the temptation will be to shoehorn Soucek into the side, but against the high energy Cherries, it surely has to be Magassa, with Fernandes pushing forwards.
Areola

Wan Bisaka  Todibo  Kilman  Diouf

Magassa Potts

Bowen         Fernandes            Summerville

Wilson
Subs: Hermansen, Mavropanos, Igor, KWP, Soucek, Irving, Kante, Guilherme, Earthy

Predicted Score:  A desmond.....2-2  (Willson, Soucek)

Nuno’s only obvious error imo was removing Fernandes and not using Magassa to help stiffen up the midfield.

🤔

Taking our 2 goal scoring clinical Striker off early 2nd half supercedes that decision and both were bad. He's got to stop being clever for the sake of it creating problems that don't exist or he'll seriously begin to alienate the players.

Parking the bus against Bournemouth now. Can it go any lower?

Well played Areola, take a bow.

Desperate stuff. Why he took off Wilson I don’t know.

A very lucky point in the end.

If ever there was a time to play Liverpool it is now, they’ve lost 6 of their last 7, although with the way we play I doubt we will get anything from the game, we all know we’re gonna bottle it.

Im not saying we should be playing them off the park, but having no forwards and lining up across the 6 yard box is just diabolically bad.
same as swapping fullbacks around and ignoring Potts & Fernandes were suicidal decisions - so was today’s.

The most frustrating thing is that’s it so obvious to everyone watching that game.

Fair enough that the weather was unpredictable but fuck me, to try to alter the shape of the team and shut up shop after 50 minutes is absolutely predictable which way things would go. Nuno had the weapons for a brilliant win after that first half but unfortunately aimed them at his own foot…..and hit both of them.
Wilson must’ve been fucking livid being taken off 5 minutes into the second half when he’s on a hat trick.

Bournemouth are a very good side and will make top 6 imo if injuries dont impact too much.

Nuno’s only obvious error imo was removing Fernandes and not using Magassa to help stiffen up the midfield. He gambled on extreme low block tactics with numbers to simply stop the ball in and around our penalty area. The old Moyes “Alamo” approach.  He got away with it thx to Wilson and Areola.    But removing Wilson so early meant we simply had no outball. Fullkrug was not fit as usual so could not rrplace him and Soucek showed why he could never really be a serious option as a central forward.

So in his defence, his options are so limited.  Shocking in fact.

Same here. It's fucking Bournemouth. We should be smashing tiny, tinpot teams like this if we want to fulfil our potential as a club. Not regarding them as if they are Barcelona.
They maybe 'smaller' in terms of fan base but Bournemouth are head and shoulders above us as a footballing outfit right now, and they probably own their 'football' ground.  Nothing will change here until we get owner ownership. We'll always be destined to punch below our weight.

I don't think we should be smashing the tiny tinpot Bournemouth, but we should give them 45 minutes to try to score against us. Suicidal mental crack shit

Yeh because we're going to go to Bournemouth who were 5th (we were bottom 3) in the table on a horrible winters afternoon and play free flowing Brazilian football and win 3 nil, whilst Bournemouth stand around and do nothing but applaud us.

Can't believe some of the comments and shit directed at Nuno on here.
Everyone would have taken a point before the game, 7 pts out of 9 last 3 games and out of the bottom 3 for now.
Some right loons on here

Not the point though, is it. Having been 2 up we threw 2 points with strange subs, sitting deep, handing possession back to Bournemouth and inviting them on.  We cant defend like that, we don't have the defensive personnel so why persist with it?  You wont see a luckier point all season. Having been 2 up we should have lost by 2, and entertainment value, which to be fair is what its all about, is zero.

Yeah just ignore the football and look at the result. Never mind the tactical capitulation seeing Bournemouth finish the match having made THREE FUCKING TIMES THE AMOUNT OF PASSES, and having nearly 30 shots in which we only managed not to concede double figures due to a world class performance from Areola.

With the weather was always a predictable second half. Guilherme injured at half time didn't help.

But at some point the defence and players have to take responsibility for not holding a higher line.

We obviously had nothing on the bench....and you can see the logic. First sub is hats helped in recent games to see it out and KWP is an intelligent footballer.

Next sub he thinks I need some holdup as Wilson can't and the ball keeps coming back from our hoofs out of defence.

Then he's thinking I need a proper hold up Striker as Soucek is struggling.

Sadly each decision compounded the next when what we needed was some guile and ball retention and an outlet.

Really it's on Sullivan and Potter who have left us with no ball carrying wide players in the squad, and a strikeforxe relying on a guy who played less game time that Antonio last year, despite Antonio having a near death car crash at before half way.

I have some sympathy for Nuno....but he did get it wrong.

I did not understand the sub so early. They must be managing Wilson's fitness. Otherwise that was bonkers. He obviously gambled and doesnt think much of Fulkrug at all as he would rather have put on Soucek before him. Which says everything. When Fulkrug did come on it was like he was doing some light jogging! Clearly doesnt want to get another knock before he leaves in Jan.

I'm not sure what to make of this one tbh. I would have taken a draw all day before the match started. I didnt even think at 2-0 we were safe and the windy conditions mean we were always going to wing this one. But some of the mindset we have when trying to hold on, it was crazy. It doesnt work.

You need to plan for that type of thing. Sitting back with no outlet doesnt work. Put 2 players on the half way line and they cant overload you without a long ball over the top fucking them. When areola picks the ball up EVERYONE need to sprint to their half so he can kick it out and relieve the pressure. Just basic shit.

A goal keeper should never be man of the match when one of your players scores 2 goals!
I'll write this one off, I know our squad isnt what it needs to be, so lets hope we can limp on until Jan and solve some of this.

Not a great day, I get it, but 3 undefeated is not bad considering where we've come from this season and last.

I'm actually fucking fuming for Wilsons sake. The poor cսnt worked his nuts off 1st half to get us a 0-2 lead away from home down near the bottom and Nuno commits hari kari by playing silly buggers again chucking 2 valuable points away. I hope you kick him in the bin after the game Wilson.

Exactly that Fullkrug doesn't want to be here Nuno must see that.
Wilson shaking his head when substituted says it all.

Taking Fernandez off and replacing him with the German while pushing Soucek in to Midfield where he spent 20 mins passing the ball back to Bournemouth........ not what you need when what we desperately needed  was some possession to take the pressure off.  Thought he was over making mistakes like that.
