Well it's a fast turnaround for this one.  After a hard fought, but somewhat disappointing point at Old Trafford, we head to the south coast for an arguably more difficult looking game on paper.

Brighton have been a bogey side since they arrived in the division, as well as being the envy of many fans for their progressive owner and stellar recruitment model.

Teamwise, Nuno gets to 'bring' Paqueta back (I won't use the term 'welcome'), and the messaging around Summerville remains opaque at best.  Plus as to what happened to Guilherme who knows, but with both him and Igor missing we went from a squad of 3 Braziliians to none versus Man Utd in one fell swoop.

This leaves at least a decision around Soucek, but if Summerville (or Guilherme) were to be available, another decision around 2 of 3 from Fernandes, Magassa, and Potts.

Predicted Lineup

I'm working on the basis that Paqueta will come back in, and Summerville will at best be fit for the bench:
Areola

Wan Bissaka  Mavropanos  Todibo  Diouf

Magassa  Potts

Bowen   Paqueta   Fernandes

Wilson

Subs:  Hermansen, Kilman, KWP, Irving, Kante, Earthy, Guilherme, Summerville, Marshall
Predicted Score:  Brighton 2 - 1 West Ham

Brighton remain high up in the current form table, scoring twice as many as they concede.  West Ham are midtable over the last 5 games, are at a scoring ratio of roughly 1:1.

Hard to see anything but a defeat here, but we have a punchers chance (all be it, the blows themselves are fairly lightweight and will need to find the Brighton chin with surgical precision to knock them out).

Tough game, would snap your arm off for a point. Villa scored 4 there the other night though, so they can be got at.

Paqueta should be on the bench, can't have him back in the side after a red like that plus the fact his G/A output is pants anyway.  I would bring in Earthy over Soucek,  and have Paq on the bench as someone to actually offer an impact in the second half.

The other consideration about chucking Paqueta straight back in the deep end again after his recent return from a suspension which is his fragile state of mind. It takes the slightest of thing to set him off and will be a target for the opposition and their fans. Coming off the bench would actually benefit him after what happened upon his Liverpool starting return where he proved he couldn't handle it.

Replace a reliable Team player who helped us get yet another valuable point at Old Trafford for a selfish non-Team player that let us down in his last game? No thanks. If he does get back in the side, he now has to earn it from the Bench, not given it everytime he's back available from yet another disciplinary suspension.
He'll be back in over Soucek, how does a non team player have our best defensive stats and most ball recoveries... He also grafts when he plays.. He just lost his shit and was a cսnt in that instance, it doesn't make him not a team player

Because like I've previously stated he's back on his 2nd suspension in as many weeks having just returned from one picking up so many yellows previously. Yet we reward him with an immediate return, even though he's out of form as well. A Team player who last assisted a goal 58 games ago.
Off form, they've all been off form since the Newcastle game, the game where he was the best player on the pitch... You don't drop your players cause they get suspended.. Especially when you have a midfield that can't get up the pitch because Soucek can't get the ball out of his feet and take it on the half turn so he's actually facing the right direction.

We're not in a position to do that we just don't have a replacement.

Although I don't want him in the side Parqueta has to replace Soucek with hopefully Summerville fit enough for the bench

Yeah I agree. If it's a choice between Soucek or Paqueta, then it's got to be Paqueta. Potts and Magassa sitting, Fernandes and Paqueta shifting between central and left, and Bowen on the right. We just carry more threat that way going forward. Tommy is a warrior but I think we need more than what he can offer in an attacking sense and getting our foot on the ball and passing and moving.

We have even moved into a slightly awkward position where Potts, Magassa and Fernandes are all deserving of starting which does hamper what we can do with out and out attackers. If Summerville is back maybe sit Paqueta on the bench although Nuno did say he'd start.

Stranger things have happened. We were after all i thought competitive against Manure at OT. I do think Brighton away are a sterner test and Id rip your hands off for a point now. If we can pick up a point or two in games like this, back them with a win one or two at home and be in touch come January, then with a couple of astute signings we stand a chance.

We need a win really, but this will be a tough game. I really hope Summerville is back so we can at least be effective on the break. It's killing us having only Bowen with any pace on the front line, especially with the way Nuno likes to set up at times.
