But I didn't like his music. When I was a kid it was always middle-aged dads nodding along to his records and perhaps that in itself put me off him. But I never liked blues or English singers singing in American accents. All cringe to me.
But clearly liked by many. RIP Chris.
I dislike, driving home for Christmas, road to hell and let's dance and some others. Definite middle aged nodding dad songs. But for a while during the early 90s , when to be honest I was completely out of it most weekends, I started to like him. The Balearic scene picked up on his music, tweaked it a bit., and brought it to a younger audience. Maybe they were taking the piss to begin with? But now his stuff is well regarded by that generation.

Re: Chris Rea dead at 74
Chris Rea hated that song
Didnt think it was him at all
Liked playing & his music but hated ‘fame’
Very private humble man who met his wife when she was 17
A Stainsby Girl
Had a lot of illness including pancreatic cancer in 2001
Yes, very talented & very underrated
RIP

Then Jeruco - big area
Scarlet Fantastic - Memories
The Clash - should I stay or should I go/rock the casbah
Thrashing doves - symphony for the devil
Just off the top of my head obviously loads more.. Still out raving now and every now and again will hear one mixed in and gives me goosebumps
Big area! That takes me back. Amazing
This one is probably my fav of that type. The intro/build up is incredible.

This edit never gets old.
First heard it off my chops at space in Ibiza with sun coming up.
Rip.
I never knew the original riff came from Rea to this tune I like..
His influence was far and wide.

"I just want to be able to say 'I'm Alan Partridge. Join me tonight when my guests will be, I don't know, Chris Rea'. Actually, he lives in the area. I could have had him over. 'Alright Chris!', 'Hello Alan I didn't know you'd moved in', 'Yeah, just moved in, last week. I'm having a barbecue, fancy coming over?', 'I'd love to! Do you mind if I bring my guitar?', 'I'd rather you didn't, it's not that kind of area. Do you like Mini Kievs?', 'I love them! But my wife's vegetarian', 'Doesn't matter. She can have fish', 'No she won't eat that either', 'Oh forget it! You people'."
