The Hung Over, Post-Christmas PL Games Predictions Thread (With added "Plink, Plink, Fizzzzzz!)
Friday, 26 December 2025 20:00
Manchester United v Newcastle United
Venue: Old Trafford
League Positions: 7 v 12
Current Forms: 18 v 22
Ho, fo, f*****g Ho. Not much separates these two in either league positions or current form. Man United's "home advantage" seems to be an identical asset to them as ours is to us. I'd laugh like a drain at an away win, but can't quite see it. On that basis:
Prediction: Draw
Saturday, 27 December 2025 12:30
Nottingham Forest v Manchester City
Venue: City Ground
League Positions: 17 v 2
Current Forms: 24 v 45
Manchester City are stormin', Forest are stutterin'. Not really much more you can say about this pairing. Can't really see that being any different after this game:
Prediction: Away Win
Saturday, 27 December 2025 15:00
Arsenal v Brighton & Hove Albion
Venue: Emirates Stadium
League Positions: 1 v 8
Current Forms: 42 v 11
This, given who the team 2nd in the league played earlier, is another game Arsenal daren't lose, and I don't think they will. I seem to recall the Seagulls being a bit of a bogey team against the mighty Gunners, so, probably not a stroll in the park for the home team and VAR may poke it's media friendly nose in at some time in the game:
Prediction: Home Win
Saturday, 27 December 2025 15:00
Brentford v A. F. C. Bournemouth
Venue: Brentford Community Stadium
League Positions: 11 v 14
Current Forms: 18 v 12
Two teams with league positions we can only dream about. Another game where the stats are close in both cases. I believe that home advantage will, in this case, be the bigger influence:
Prediction: Home Win
Saturday, 27 December 2025 15:00
Burnley v Everton
Venue: Turf Moor
League Positions: 19 v 15
Current Forms: 5 v 15
I suspect Burnley's point last week signifies a turned corner straighter than a 100% straight thing, straighter than any corner the media have had Manchester United turn recently - i.e. not a corner turned at all. That being said, I'm not convinced that Everton have it in them to get the 3 points they need (as if Burnley didn't REALLY need them, dumb-ass!!!). I'm on the fence for this one:
Prediction: Draw
Saturday, 27 December 2025 15:00
Liverpool v Wolverhampton Wanderers
Venue: Anfield
League Positions: 5 v 20
Current Forms: 39 v 0
Santa wears red, Liverpool wear red. Can't be a coincidence, surely? Not even the Boxiest of Boxing Day sales will have points cheap enough for Wolves to buy, even if they're free. Will it be a rout? No European football for a while and 'pool have got a virtual bye in the FA Cup. Resounding:
Prediction: Home Win
Saturday, 27 December 2025 15:00
West Ham United v Fulham
Venue: The London Stadium
League Positions: 18 v 10
Current Forms: 5 v 24
Oh dear, Oh dear, Oh dear, who'd be a Hammer at Christmas? We can't come down before the decorations do, as that would put us in a Siberian salt mine for the New Year. One of the 21 "must win" games we face from now on. Will the team be up for it? Will the manager get the selection/tactics right? Will you stop asking questions like they came out of a box of Aldi budget Xmas crackers? Sadly:
Prediction: Away Win
Saturday, 27 December 2025 16:30
Crystal Palace v Tottenham Hotspur
Venue: Selhurst Park
League Positions: 9 v 13
Current Forms: 6 v 16
Can Palace bounce back from their League Cup exit? Can Tottenham bounce at all? Home advantage should play a big part here but Palace have had an awful lot of games squeezed into a short period of time leading up to today. Spurs would do well to capitalise on that fact, but that all depends on which Spurs turn up. Back on the fence for me on this one:
Prediction: Draw
Saturday, 27 December 2025 17:30
Chelsea v Aston Villa
Venue: Stamford Bridge
League Positions: 4 v 3
Current Forms: 27 v 45
This is probably the game that will get the media juices flowing, all of which suggests the dampest of damp squibs as the two teams cancel each other out. Villa's current form can't be bettered but maybe it can be matched by Chelsea's home advantage. Gonna need a bigger fence:
Prediction: Draw
Sunday, 28 December 2025 14:00
Sunderland v Leeds United
Venue: Stadium of Light
League Positions: 6 v 16
Current Forms: 22 v 28
Any other time of the year and this would be a guaranteed Monday evening match. Leeds current form gives them a slight edge, but both league position and home advantage favours the more northern of the northern monkeys at play here:
Prediction: Home Win
The "After-Last-Week, Don't Bother Reading" Acca:
Manchester City (Away @ Nottingham Forest 4/7)
Liverpool (@ Home to Wolverhampton Wanderers 2/11)
Sunderland (@ Home to Leeds United 6/4)
Fulham (Away @ West Ham United 13/8)
Total stake: £11.00
Potential returns: £62.30
Manchester United v Newcastle United

Our record against Fulham down years ain't bad. So if we fuck it up. It's be a case of rearranging Deck Chairs on the Titanic.! As for everyone else. Fuck'em. Let Them Eat Cake.
1-0 Irons.

We're going to Fuerteventura on Saturday, should be there in time for our kick off. Last year we watched the Liverpool game out there, so hopefully no repeat scoreline.
