Well, it's the last game of 2025 in a year that few will look back on with favour or fondness.  Wrapping it up are bogey-side Brighton, who after a last minute outrageous goal in the away fixture cost us a vital victory, will fancy themselves (doesn't everyone) heading to the London Stadium.

It's another of those must win games for West Ham, and if the recovery doesn't actually commence at some point, we're fucked.

There's been no press conference for this game, so not much to report on player availability wise.  Fullkrug is training with Milan already so he's not available.  Guilherme seems to have been ostracised for some reason despite a moderatly promising last cameo against Liverpool.  And Igor it would appear it's been decided isn't up to task.   Diouf and Wan Bissaka remain at the AFCON tournament.

Predicted Line Up:

Brighton play with a large number of overloads on the ball, and last time out we shifted to a back three quite successfully, so I'd expect to see something similar again in this game (just to get the natives uber-restless when the defensive looking lineup is announced):
Areola

Mavropanos  Kilman  Todibo

Walker Peters    Fernandes   Potts   Scarles

Paqueta

Bowen   Summerville
Subs: Hermansen, Myers, Golambeckis, Kante, Rodriguez, Magassa, Earthy, Soucek, Wilson

Predicted Result:

It is all starting to feel a bit last chance saloon for West Ham, despite the season still having over half left to run!  Lose this game and all hope will feel lost.  Brighton though seem to be missing some key players, and this presents us a chance at least.  Brighton created almost nothing against us in the first game so I expect that gameplan and pattern to largely repeat...with the outcome to be decided on the basis of how well our Maginot Line holds up to late pressure when Brighton come on strong.

Score: West Ham 1 - 0 Brighton (Bowen)

Have to disagree. Kilman and Paqueta should be replaced by Mavropanos and Summerville.

But look at our bench, FFS. Did the club executives really think this was good enough.

It's a terrible line up and bench with another massive must win game.
3 defensive midfielders, all willing and good young players, but they get in each others way.
They need some freedom and movement. The defence has to push up more but Kilman is to defensive and won't take a risk. No Striker and what is about so many defensive players in a must win game. 15 out of a squad of 20 fucking hell
I hope Scarles has a great game, scores and runs and runs and runs like Tardelli

Would rather have seen us play with just the one defensive midfielder and start Summerville & Paqueta as we’re at home..

Cheers. That’s basically the strongest side he could have picked and the pretty obvious ones despite some of the ‘guesses’. I know some will grumble Paqueta in over Summerville.

Ficking hope we can pull something out the bag tonight.

I Think 1-1 but hoping that we can get a win and that Delicate Summerville can once and for all start scoring . Too many quick spurts and too little end product.

Almost always a draw.

Wilson for Summerville, I reckon.

Looks like it might snow a bit next week, with plunging temperatures. Might see a postponement or two.

Magassa was our best player last time out imo but got hooked and we looked worse by losing whatever we were hanging onto in midfield  . Nuno has improved a few things ( set pieces, midfield via selecting younger players) but he still gets one or two critical things wrong every game with regard to starting 11 and subs and timing of subs. I thought he would learn because its obvious to the majority but it was the with Potter, Loppy and Moyes. He makes less of the poor selections and substitution decisions than the previous 3 but still enough to cost us points.

1) Pick Mavro ahead of Kilman in a back 4. He doesnt.
2) Never ever pick Guido not even on the bench. He does.
3) Soucek should only be a last resort sub up top. Never in midfield and never to start a game.
4) Paqueta needs to be subbed if not effective or as he tires on 60 mins even when he is playing well. He needs to be hooked when giving it away. Under Nuno he’s untouchable.
5) Wilson should start games and subbed not be subbed on. Best to maximise chances of results by getting ahead and protecting a lead not chasing a game
6) Scarles cannot play 90 mins yet. Not up to the putsical demands of the PL and needs to rotate more with Mayers coming on or starting some games. Imo Mayers has a better chance of making it at PL level longer term.
7) Put other U21s on the bench and use them. Guido and Irvine should join JWP

I suspect all the above mistakes to be repeated tonight

Welcome to West Ham 😆
In fairness this was tacked into the post-Fulham after game conference I believe, rather than a dedicated Brighton focussed conference.

I genuinely don't think he cares either way.

He keeps us up, good job.

We go down and he is sacked or sacked before we go down he walks away with millions and retires to Portugal. Win/Win for Nuno!

The problem with us this season is that we are basically SHIT and even being 2-0 up I wouldn't feel comfortable winning the match.

Brighton have been out of sorts this season, step forward West Ham.

You'll have to excuse my negativity but I don't see anything apart from a Brighton win.
If we are 2-0 up with 30 seconds of additional time left and the ball is in the corner at Brighton’s end then I will believe we can hold on.
