Well, it's the last game of 2025 in a year that few will look back on with favour or fondness.  Wrapping it up are bogey-side Brighton, who after a last minute outrageous goal in the away fixture cost us a vital victory, will fancy themselves (doesn't everyone) heading to the London Stadium.

It's another of those must win games for West Ham, and if the recovery doesn't actually commence at some point, we're fucked.

There's been no press conference for this game, so not much to report on player availability wise.  Fullkrug is training with Milan already so he's not available.  Guilherme seems to have been ostracised for some reason despite a moderatly promising last cameo against Liverpool.  And Igor it would appear it's been decided isn't up to task.   Diouf and Wan Bissaka remain at the AFCON tournament.

Predicted Line Up:

Brighton play with a large number of overloads on the ball, and last time out we shifted to a back three quite successfully, so I'd expect to see something similar again in this game (just to get the natives uber-restless when the defensive looking lineup is announced):
Areola

Mavropanos  Kilman  Todibo

Walker Peters    Fernandes   Potts   Scarles

Paqueta

Bowen   Summerville
Subs: Hermansen, Myers, Golambeckis, Kante, Rodriguez, Magassa, Earthy, Soucek, Wilson

Predicted Result:

It is all starting to feel a bit last chance saloon for West Ham, despite the season still having over half left to run!  Lose this game and all hope will feel lost.  Brighton though seem to be missing some key players, and this presents us a chance at least.  Brighton created almost nothing against us in the first game so I expect that gameplan and pattern to largely repeat...with the outcome to be decided on the basis of how well our Maginot Line holds up to late pressure when Brighton come on strong.

Score: West Ham 1 - 0 Brighton (Bowen)

Wilson’s biggest asset is occupying centre backs so Bowen has more freedom. He typically does that well for 55-60 minutes, after which he starts becoming irrelevant, which he did tonight. He’s the centre forward we needed 5 years ago.

If you don’t see that, you’re clearly missing something.

The issue is not subbing Wilson, it’s having nobody to replace him. It sure as shit should never be Paqueta up front.

Line up was mediocre and bench far to negative.
Subs were almost the end of Nuno, was he actually trying to lose the game ?
Scarles could hardly walk, did KWP have an injury.?
Myers at right back wtf, surely you put Magassa there if so
Soucek did nothing but get in the way of his own players.
Marshall should have been on there for someone,Golambekis was never going to get on in a trillion years.
It makes no sense
Earthy should have come on for Paqueta not Soucek.

So people will say beat Forest and we not out of it so we'll keep Nuno, but he's done.
SO DEPRESSING

The managers decisions have cost us a lot of points. We were very lucky to be leading and were so negative second half. Brighton came at us and we looked all over the place. We dont play to win, we play to try and hang onto scraps. We just are so fragile.
This is why Nuno has to go for me. It's so negative and 2 wins in 14 games says it all.

At least we would go down with a bit of passion and fight under Bilic. Get him back.

I understand the Wilson sub, its out of necessity.

I'm more perplexed with why he keeps taking Magassa off when we're hanging on.

Who should Nuno bring on? We dont have another CF on the books since that weak cսnt German went AWOL and Potter said he didn't need a CF.

We're a better team with Wilson in it, but he's not up to 90 mins.  Should we just play him til he does his hamstring?

What do the sages of WHO think Nuno should do? The Wilson situation is on Potter and Sullivan and Steidten.
100% this.

We were once told Wilson has to come off the bench because he cannot last more than half an hour. He starts this game and makes a right nuisance of himself all half and was a big part of the reason why we took the lead with his goal bound effort saved by Dunk that gave away the penalty in the 49th minute of extra time 1st half. He wasn't spent after just another 15 minutes run out 2nd half. Once he went off, our focal point went to ratshit as we dicked about with Paqueta and anyone else who fancied a go lurking around the final third. Stupid move to take him off.

Can we just mention the officiating.  How fucking awful was that ref?  And the lino missed so much, only deciding which way throw ins were after ref decided for him.  And that corner he missed at the end was atrocious

One plus point I suppose is that Kilmans wages could be halved if we go down making it easier to get rid.

That's not gonna wash when they played with four 33 and over players for most of the game including Milner who is 40 this week. He should have kept Wilson on who wasn't fucked or injured as they couldn't deal with him. The boos that rang around the Stadium at the time he was hauled off all knew it too.

I thought wilson did look a bit stiff/slight limp going off. He also looked a bit suprised and pleased with the reaction.
Wilson was absolutely fucked, put in a shift when he was on though. He needed subbing but then Summerville came on and just strolled around for half hour. If we must play this bloke he needs the ball at his feet all the time running directly at their penalty area. Repeatedly.

Another 2 points dropped.

Replacing wilson with the person we needed to get down the line and cross it to him was stupid.  If youre taking wilson off you out soucek in as a battering ram.

Stupid decisions again from nuno

Draw aint good enough, we look unfit and clueless. I dont see us beating Wolves.

Summerville is a complete fucking waste of space, I cannot see what all you pricks see in him. Zero output from him again.

Great to see Scarles put in good performance though. He'll be useful in the Championship.

Gotta say I agree with Vexed about Summerville. He’s all fart and no shit at the moment. Rapid - but absolutely no idea what he’s doing.

Because he's as sick as many of us that agree with him he shouldn't be subbed when he does - He keeps doing it and it ends up hurting us. I couldn't agree more wirh all those who booed that decision in the Stadium at the time.
