I can't be bothered with the Night Manager. I can't take the midget seriously, for a start. It reminds me of the Monty Python sketch with Carol Cleveland acting in a trench while Michael Palin stands on a box. Also, having had the misfortune to see and hear Hugh Laurie in half the first episode of House, I can no longer watch him either.

I haven't had the strength to watch the final season of Stranger Things, but I'm reliably informed the penultimate episode, 'Will takes 20 minutes to  reveal his secret power of Arse-Banditry' will appeal to the site gayers and identity politics loons.

Talking of good first seasons followed by disappointment, anyone seen 4th season of The Sinner? First 1 was fantastic but 2 and 3 were not good, 4 seems to have got better reviews though
Sinner S4 is a massive return to form. S2 is a bit meh and S3 is a load of old gay shit.

Agreed Swiss, although will take some doing to match the first series.
Didn't watch the first series when it originally aired, but binged all 6 episodes in a day over the Christmas break. Fantastic TV.
Amazed however that you haven't mentioned Camila Morrone.
Camila Morrone is definitely on the Swiss List and might even Eiza Gonzalez as my favourite latina.

I had the displeasure of having to sit through this, (and the season before, actually enjoyed the first one)

A steaming pile of shit it was scene after scene of the same filler

START:  Everyone in a room arguing over the next problem they have to solve, and while they're arguing one of the group will go quiet (camera pans in) "hey I've got a plan", (Everyone still loudly talking) "I'VE GOT IT" (every spins round),   "Imagine this saucepan is an electro field and this pepperpot is the bad guy)..... Everyone agrees its crazy but just might work, cut to overblown action scene where it almost works but not quite, -return to START and repeat.-

Honestly it was like this over and over - SHIT!
But...80s!

I gave up midway through season 3 i think.

Talking of good first seasons followed by disappointment, anyone seen 4th season of The Sinner? First 1 was fantastic but 2 and 3 were not good, 4 seems to have got better reviews though
I agree. after starting well the last two episodes were shite. Just recycled the same thing..again and again. And oh Seven will come to our rescue again and again.

Nearly finished Mr Mercedes  I think it helps if you are familiar with Kings writing. Without such knowledge i can see whyvsome saw it as becoming a bit daft but pretty much par for the course for SK.

Will watch the final episode of 'The Abandons' later, really enjoyed it so far.
Misery ...stand by me and Salem's lot were the only successful films /TV series that stood up from the books.
The Stand the worst
Shawshank Redemption, Carrie, and and The Shining were all decent. I even liked Dr Sleep
Yea ..yea...apart from them too 😂🫣

that was fun enough, but I think its only memorable for THAT ending, I don't think I've literally shouted WTF at a film before, but I did watching that

only1billybonds wrote: 21 Dec 2025, 04:19 Not seen Christine but enjoyed the book. The Stand another decent read was awful, should never have got further than the editing stage. The most successful adaptation  of an SK book was the Green Mile, hands down the best film version of anything he's written.
People go a bit overboard about Shawshank redemption being the best film ever made, but it's objectively miles ahead of Green Mile imo
