Exclusive: Callum Wilson’s West Ham contract terminated

West Ham and Callum Wilson have agreed to terminate his contract early, sources have told Football Insider.

It emerged on Monday that the striker, 33, could quit the London club this month.

Now, sources say that a full agreement is in place between Wilson and the hierarchy for him to leave the club by mutual consent.

Wilson was signed on a cheap, incentivised one-year deal after leaving Newcastle United in the summer.
He will now be available as a free agent in what is expected to herald a stampede of interest from clubs in the UK and overseas.

West Ham have confirmed the signings of two forwards picked by Nuno Espirito Santo, Pablo Felipe from Gil Vicente and Taty Castellanos from Lazio for a combined package of up to £47million.

Both could be involved on Tuesday against Nuno’s former club Nottingham Forest, who are four points above West Ham.

When we go through the games I can fully understand why Wilson has the right hump with Nuno and picked up on it throughout the season.

Everton A - Fullkrug starts (Wilson left on bench)

Arsenal A - Fullkrug starts (Wilson left on bench)

Brentford H - Paqueta starts (Wilson left on bench)

Leeds A - Paqueta starts (Wilson comes off the bench due to Scarles injury not for tactical reason)

Newcastle H - Wilson finally starts and we win well

Burnley H - Wilson starts 2nd game in a row we win and he scores 

Bournemouth A - Starts and scores 2 quickfire goals 1st half then moronically subs him for Soucek early 2nd half to protect what we got on a hat trick and we throw away 2 points drawing 

Liverpool H - Starts him but the Team play pitifully producing little in our final third

Man Utd A - Starts him plays well and we gain a well earned point

Brighton A - Drops him we struggle to score until a minute of him coming on late he sets up Bowen to gain a point

Villa H - Remains on the bench as we lose 3-2 only having a token jog out for less than 10 mins

Man City - Still remains on the bench as we get dicked 3-0 and only given less than 10 minutes run out against

Fulham H - Yet again left on the bench as we lose 0-1

Brighton H - Finally starts the game we draw and plays a key role in us winning the Penalty for handball for his goal bound effort to go 2-1 up. Then he moronically subs him to loud boos all around looking hacked off

Wolves A - The one time he actually keeps him on throughout which puts the injury safety fears to bed he cannot last games we get dicked 3-0 with little service as he just buys 2 new Strikers effectively come to replace him


All I see is game after game of him being fucked about, under appreciated and can totally understand why he's got the raving hump with Nuno's treatment of him. Had he actually appreciated his game more and trusted in him to play more then we would have scored and got more points. I've no doubt about that.

So what's the point him sticking around on basic wages when he used to be benched for Paqueta, let alone 2 new Strikers who have no clue what this League is like to play in. We are alienating a proven Premier League Striker with 4 goals to his name in limited starts this season that cost us nothing that hasn't had an injury, for 1 of the new Strikers who has just cost us £25M with zero Prem experience and only 2* goals in a Lazio side he mostly started for this season that has been injured missing a month.

I'd say he's pretty much been treated how you'd expect an injury prone player who's lost their pace and was desperate enough to come to a shit team on a pay as you play deal to be treated. Should never be first choice and it's a joke he has had to have been. I think we've all been institutionalised to think- because the striker situation has been SO fucking bad for the last couple of years- that he's good, when actually anything more than a player who was good a few years ago and is now bang average and literally the only striker on our books so of course better than playing another player out of position there.

He's tried and he's more of a presence and a nuisance than anyone else we could have selected, but he really doesn't trouble or scare defences at all, barring maybe 1 or 2 moments. He spends most of his time in centre back's pockets especially when because of how we play we don't get people around him. Unless the new guys are absolute fucking shit, we will not miss him a jot.

It beggars the question - Why get him? I mean, if you aren't going to play Callum Wilson when he is fit then why fucking get him. Especially when we had nobody else. 

IMHO - He has been our only real goal threat and taken off way too soon in games which has unsettled our balance or he has just been dropped altogether.
