Post stubbo-admin »

Well seems like with all these international breaks, and us languishing, the rumours of ins and outs are rife.

If ever there was a crystallisation of how far we've fallen
Solid attritional work from Sullivan and Brady - expectations at rock bottom
Agree to an extent, but come on we desperately need some old skool defenders and these two fit that bill.

Don't forget this is the site that didn't want Dawson, Maguire, McTominay, among others.

Agree with this.

My worry is that, with relegation a near certainty now (I don't really have any hope of us staying up), but with Nuno and Mendes still in place, we're looking to fill the squad with expensive, lower grade (than Mendes' best clients) Latino lightweights who will hate the relentlessness of the Championship (46 games of mayhem) and will want off quickly.

I know some fans cream themselves over the mere thought of a Brazilian (fnar, fnar). But for every Coutinho or Guimaraes there's a Guilherme or an Igor. And we ain't in line to land the Coutinhos.

Hope I'm wrong. But I can see us being lumped with a lot of expensive problems next season. And, by then, Nuno and his agent mate will be long gone.

Yes- this is exactly the same as where we are with manager now. We'll get a Dyche type next whenever that may be and 'be thankful' for it. Awful fall.

With those sort of players, it's not quite so bad if they are bought to 'steady the ship' with the next 18 months in mind but other recruitment with the next 5 years in mind happens alongside it. Trouble is the second part won't happen and we'll just carry on and on in this short term cycle of mediocrity/shit.
and the cycle starts all over again.

Yeah, I get that too... it wasn't so much a criticism of the poster, just that it's a manifestation of where we are

Was reading Flamengo are prepared to go to 40m Euros for Paqueta
No brainer for a player refusing to play who will be worse than useless for the rest of the season
Get him out & get someone who is bothered
Conor Gallagher would be ideal but seems to be Tottenham bound as Villa don’t have the money
Must be serious FFP problems as saw they may move on Malen who has been scoring regularly

Why would he have come to a relegation team with Sp*rs and Villa sniffing around?

Did Bowen refuse to play against QPR because he is desperate to leave?

Why keep a player who doesn't want to be at the club, has just refused to play in a game, got the most stupid red card you'll ever see when we were only 0-1 down in a game, and has been monumentally fucking shit all season so far, when some idiot is apparently prepared to pay £35mil for him?

We are going down with the current set up, i.e. with the side as it currently is, and with him stinking the place out every week. Getting that money in would give us one last chance of improving the areas we need to, still very slim, but at least a fighting chance.

Use your brain.

Don't think anyone would disagree with this but when he apparently has a straight choice between Villa and the N17 mob,  any talk of him coming here in our predicament is just fanciful

Probably some legs in the Dier link, Nuno had him at Spurs and apparently rated him and also has some leadership about him.

Paqueta could get messy, seems mad to turn down the reputed offer and keeping players against their will never works. Fuck him off and let him go and pass to the opposition team and perform the odd trick on the half way line in Brazil.

If he was as good as maverick as some are suggesting, we wouldn't be the worst team in the league.
It is if you spend more than three seconds thinking about it. Give it a go and get back to me.
You not been watching this season?  Are you aware of the position we are in, when he's mostly been playing every week?

If we can somehow get close to £30mil for him, you would have to be an idiot of colossal proportions to have to give it more than 3 seconds to come to the correct conclusion.
Then what you gonna do with that 30m? Where do you think that will go? What use is 30m over the next 5 years in the clubs current predicament? I'm intrigued.

Why wouldn't we just recall the Alvarez loan rather than Eric Dier. He's younger, fitter, and faster which is admittedly not a high bar to clear? He's also already on the books. I'm still fucked off that Guido is on the roster and not Alvarez.

He's had 2 seperate injuries lasting 2 months out already. Yep, just what we need to rely on right now till the end of the season. Leave the Tottenham Carthorse at Monaco's knackers yard.

Haven't we learned our lessons from relying on their past it players before in relegation scraps..

Dier is the Les Ferdinand/Robbie Keane move ahead of relegation. Let’s not repeat it. A couple of seasons ago, this would have been fine. But now?

Dier is a spent force in the Premier League. He was of average pace in his pomp, and now he’s lost half a yard. He didn’t work out at Bayern because he was seen as off the pace and forced them to defend deeper than they wanted to compensate for his lack of pace.

We don’t need that. We need to get UP the pitch. Which means we need some pace back there. Not another player who forces us deeper.

Dier’s a decent player. But let him go and play in the US or Saudi. We don’t need him for six months and then expensively in the Championship.

Doesn't say much about how persuasive Nuno is trying to keep him here when they both speak Portuguese and has practically begged him to stay. He probably secretly hates the way he's playing in such a defensive Team where he doesn't even enjoy playing anymore.

He wants out, so let him finally do one. I personally think the Team and moral of the place would instantly improve just as it did when the stench of Payets move finally wafted out the door after stinking the gaff out.
