Spurs vs West Ham. Who finds a win?

It may be "our" Cup Final, and "they don't care" but they'll hate this. West Ham win.

Well in what could be the last one of these for a while, we head to catchily names 'Tottenham Hotspur Stadium' this weekend for a clash between two sides who are, on form, pretty much the shittest in the league.

Thomas Frank, a manager that very few West Ham fans would have turned their nose up at any time post-Moyes is almost universally derided in North London, where his transformational overhaul at Spurs has seen them continue to concede just as many chances as they create (something Ange also managed), but has seen the frequency of those chances drop off a cliff.  Pretty it isn't.

Meanwhile at the toilet bowl, the saga involving Lucas Paqueta's desire to return to Brazil having been royally fucked over by English football in general, has once again reared it's ugly head...in some ways a refreshing distraction from the plight the Club is in, but in others, just another example of the disarray we find ourselves in.  It's also given the chance for the Club's most 'Senior Source' to start up with his social media 'reveals' again via the usual suspects (Whetstone/Ex/Gonzo/et al).

Take your pick what you believe, but he's either training on his own, gone on strike, nursing a back injury, or ready to stick one up the Cockerels.  Regardless it looks like he's off to Brazil in the not too distant future (frankly, who can blame him) and we'll now doubt 'soften the blow' with the exciting announcement of Adama Traore (Sullivan will need to spend the Paqueta dosh just to keep the lad in baby oil).

So back to this game. It's their dull, low block drudgery up against out dull, low block drudgery.  Maybe the new first team coach Paco Jemez can inspure Nuno to unshackle the beast, with tales of his relegation-cheating escapades at Rayo Vallecano (well, until they succombed in 2016). I doubt it though.  What is almost universally certain however, is that Spurs only fit-to-start frontman Kolo Muani will break his Spurs duck this weekend. Lump on!

Predicted line-up:

I expect Paqueta at best to be on the bench despite Nuno's protestations, meaning the decision will have to come down to whether to start both strikers, or stick one of the young CDMs in and push Fernandes higher up the pitch.  I suspect the latter.  The other decision...stick with T-Rex after a close-to-competent Cup performance, or welcome back Flapping Fonzi for some more 'punch their lights out' action.  My guess...the latter.
Areola

Wan Bissaka   Mavropanos   Todibo   Scarles

Soucek    Potts

Bowen        Fernandes     Summerville

Taty

Subs: Hermansen, KWP, Mayers, Casey, Magassa, Rodriguez, Kante, Irving & Pablo.
Predicted Score:

Well we have a bench full of negativity, a dug out lacking in adventure, and a team that barely limped past the might of QPR (in extra time no less).  They are drudgery personified.  But given our form predicting a 0:0 feels impossible.

Spurs 1 - 1 West Ham  (Kolo Muani, Soucek)

All I would say is, especially in the first half, they were fucking diabolical, and we can hardly say it was because of us. Their home form is shocking, and you could see why yesterday. Not many teams are going to give our midfield that time and space, hence why Frank changed it at half time.

Loved beating them yesterday but it's hard to gauge if we're any better as they were awful first half. Second half was more of the same trying to hang on and we defended quite well this time but still conceded and another couple of close calls..

Let's see how we do next week but at the moment we still look nailed on for the drop.

Nuno does get credit for bringing Wilson on and not an extra defender (though couldn't help himself as soon as we scored) cause it paid off and won us the game.

It's his excellent battling qualities we have been missing when in a relegation dogfight. Not pretty at times but it doesn't have to be when he dominates both boxes the way he does and gets stuck in elsewhere. Sooner have him in Midfield than Magassa who aint all that.

100% regarding Spurs woeful display and form. They are just as bad as us at Home these days. There shiny new stadium money making toys aint all they're cracked up to be when it comes to the Football on the pitch. Plus they do have a fair few injuries.

He was bang lucky he managed to do what he did when only given a handful of injury time minutes to work some magic when desperately thrown on in the 91st minute. All that credit goes to Wilson.

How wrong was I.

Great tactics, good squad selection, every player was at least a 7/10 and for once, maybe, just maybe, a little hope that we might stay up.

Very big game on Saturday, but for now, a week with a smile on my face.
Even though Wilson probably should have been on earlier I'll give Nuno some credit for bringing him on when he did, at that point we were hanging on and I don't think anyone expected us to bring a forward on.

AWB has to be the most overrated player we've had for a long time, yet another goal down to him having no natural defensive nous, how the fuck has he not attacked the ball? He is a real problem.
Yet people who know what they are talking about raved about his performance yesterday,
Who raved about AWB yesterday?

Whilst it's obvious our center halves are, like the average leftard, soy fed I didn't quite realise exactly how mincing they were until yesterday.

The reason, Micky van der Ven. He's an absolute bastard and the should be the primary metric we look at if we pull our finger and sign a center back.

What is his bastard quotient?

As weird as it sounds we don't actually have an awful Defence, there is quality in it. What's seriously lacking though is at least 1 fit old head decent Centre Half or ideally 2 to cover for injuries.

We couldn't ask for much better Left Backs choices in both Scarles and Diouf battlig it out for that 1 place. Ideal competition for a Club of our size.

Right Back I'm more than comfortable with both Wan-Bissaka and Walker-Peters as back up, although personally wouldn't have got rid of Coufal as cover but still it's fine.

Keeper I've never been comfortable with Areola as he will always give me kittens coming for crosses, commanding his box and poor distribution as well as error prone. Granted he'll always manage to pull off the occasional spectacular save but for me he still doesn't do enough to calm the Defence. That's what Fabianski excelled at.

We need another one of those back between the sticks and I'm a big believer in nailing both ends of the pitch with a quality Keeper and Striker, then the rest of the jigsaw puzzle can be sorted around it. Stopping goals and scoring are match defining positions that can get you out of jail even when you aint playing well and both for me still need addressing long term. Get them positions wrong for too long then it starts to unravel as consistency cannot be built.

The Young lad is maturing before our eyes.

Still a ways to go but I’m holding out hope for him, he could come good. Let’s hope so.

He was always quality for his age and inexperience. Far too much made of that air swing he did. Yes a mistake but it happens. Overall all I see of  the 20yo is a very promising lad with a long decent career ahead of him in the Prem.

Agree about AWB, he needs to be attacking that ball as it comes in and there's been quite a few goals where he's been culpable of the same thing.

Watched just now as i only had radio this afternoon.

Those last few seconds were a bit hairy. Rodriguez headed a great clearance before todibo finally booted it out. Looked ok today, we'll get no better time to play them,  richarlison and kudus out. Why did they sell Johnson, fuck knows? Anyway not interested in their problems.

We fucked up christmas and need miracles.

beat sunderland and there’s a glimmer of hope. But, Watching forest today they looked solid.

We’ve also got a massive 6 pointer against Burnley and they have it a little form.

Our fortunes are maybe turning around but my bet is we’ve left it too late. Those games over the Christmas period that we just didn’t show up in  I think have decided our destiny
