Blue Cards

Post BRANDED »

To be tested from Friday. 10 minute sin bin. You just know premiership refs are itching to hand these out.

"Yeah, I wonder how that is going to work? If the GK gets sin binned, does the team have to then make a substitution to bring on their sub goalie, and then make another substitution when the sin bin is over to bring on an outfield player for one of their 2 goalies on the pitch?"

"DukeofDevo 4:46 Fri Feb 9 Re: Blue Cards Looking forward to the first GK getting one for anything, most likely time-wasting."

I'd be amazed if sin bins ever come into English football.

"The Premier League has already ruled out being part of the initial roll-out of any trial, while football's world governing body Fifa said ""reports of the so-called 'blue card' at elite levels of football are incorrect and premature"". https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/68246971"

"If it's an alternative to soft red cards, it could be a good thing. I would also use it as a punishment for time wasting."

It would be to the player's advantage to get a blue card as he'll be able to park his Lamborghini on double yellows

Players like Robbie Savage and the like will receive pink cards and they will be required to mince off the field of play.

"Bound to cause problems and confusion. If you want to introduce a sin bin then just give that punishment to those who get 2 yellows instead of sending them off. Refs might give out yellows more consistently that way, rather than based on whether they've already been booked. From what I've read testing won't begin until next year and won't be used at the top level for a good while yet."

So what's it supposed to be? Halfway between yellow and red? Or it replaces yellow? All that's going to happen is certain teams will get blue cards for nailed on red card offences and yellows for blues (I think we know which teams I'm talking about) while it's the opposite for everyone else. It'll just be another way of helping the 'right' teams win games. What the fuck is the definition of a blue card offence compared to a yellow or red one anyway? I don;t really see what needs fixing with the current system. There's nothing wrong with it if administered evenly and fairly. A blue card won't suddenly make up for poor officiating. It'll just exacerbate it.

Disgusting misogyny choosing BLUE. Can’t we have BLACK or RAINBOW cards?

"You have been issued with a BLUE card as it has been deemed that your general behaviour or recent posts have fallen outside the guidelines of the WHO FAQ. Who is provided for the enjoyment of all, not as a playground for the few and we hope you will bear this in mind in future. I don't actually have a massive issue with this, like I do with VAR. At least this can be implemented across all forms of the game, from the Premier League to your U10's leagues."
