Mateus Fernandes
This is a serious player we’ve got on our hands here, give this bloke a license to shoot on site within 30 yards cos he’s clearly mustard
£40mil could be a steal if we play to his strengths

One of the thing's that was great about it was he didn't just admire his own pass, he was also determined to follow it up to possibly get on the end of it as well which he did in spectacular fashion. Impressive shit, that.

But this lad yesterday, this performance and goal will be remembered, at the end of the season, next season. A worthy man of the match. Everythings changed in a week, im excited again for the fight ahead. Might all end in tears, but we're alive and have become interesting again.
Only game I can recall where I reckon Paqueta was simply outstanding was Lyon at home.

Personally I think we should pricing Bowen & Fernandes correctly and if the ‘big boys’ dont want to pay it they should stay with us even if it’s in the Championship
Bowens England career … such as it is behind the grossly overrated Saka … will be over after the World Cup anyway

The reality is you have to be real top drawer to get in the midfield of an Arsenal, Liverpool, City etc. Then you have the likes of Chelsea, Man Utd, Villa, Newcastle dropping what we'd want for him, unlikely imo. All silly speculation anyway, it's a bit like the reverse of writing a player off after a few games, but that's WHO.

Re: Mateus Fernandes
He was outstanding on sat. Be gutted to lose him next year if we go down.
If we can somehow stay up, I actually think we will be alright next season, and a big reason for that will be Fernandes if he keeps that level up.

The player we watched Saturday, walks into most teams. He was absolutely sensational, and if he continues that form for the rest of the season, he deserves to play in a better team.
That's very possible. Staying up would at least probably net us about 20 million more for him if that was the case.

Future captain.
You'd hope our captain but certainly a captain somewhere. Some big clubs will be sniffing around him over the next couple of seasons so I hope we stay up and keep him to reap the rewards of him playing for us for a good few years and/or getting a massive transfer fee. Mad that he's only a Portuguese U21 rather than a full international, to be frank. In fairness they do have some superb midfielders (and Palhinha) but he, the other Fernandes and Silva are getting on a bit now so I guess he 'graduates' pretty sharpish.

Re: Mateus Fernandes
That's not a bad comparison in physical attributes and playing style. Poundland Fabregas.

Re: Mateus Fernandes
He reminds me a little of Fabregas in terms of stature and seems to have a bit of everything. Don't get me wrong he's nowhere near that level yet, but hopefully will keep getting better.

Re: Mateus Fernandes
I don’t think anyone wants to sell him. It’s just the suggestion that through his performances he’s raising his value which let’s face it is so unusual for a West Ham player that everyone gets a bit giddy.

We should build our midfield around him.
Fuck off paqueta and spend straight away on a CDM that surpasses Potts, Magassa, Soucek.

Re: Mateus Fernandes
That’s correct. He did say that. And he almost did it twice today. Great to see it though. We absolutely do not shoot from outside the area often enough so when it drops to a player with the space and time to take a shot- especially one with the talent to do what Fernandes did, then that’s another weapon for us. And if he can shoot like that, then if it doesn’t go in it’s going to create a corner or some chaos in the box.
More please,

Re: Mateus Fernandes
Talk of £100M (someone said yesterday) and £80M need to calm down. Like what I see so far but let's not get carried away with him. He also won't be better than Rice for a start or even equal to.

Re: Mateus Fernandes
By 23 I think he will be the best midfielder in the Premier League
And in the nature of the Premier League like with Declan Rice he won’t be playing for us
Thats the modern cunty game
If we are relegated the price should be £80m
Sullivan rubbing his hands together already
