Paco Jemez Martin
Paco Jemez Martin
New first team coach.
The camera went on him a couple of times during the game, looks very up for it and animated. When kilman was subbed on he appeared to have a fucking meltdown with Nuno. Has he started the revival? Is he being lined up as nuno's successor if we go down?
They haven't coached together before but were teammates at real vallecano. Sacked as Ibiza manager in November.
He's also managed a team called Tractor in Iran. And he's related to Alvin (might not be true).
I like him already. A lot.

A few more quotes...
"When you're a coward and generous with it, you lose"
"Apart from falling pregnant, everything else happened to us out there"
"We're the shittest team in the entire division, once we realize that we'll be a match for anybody"
"Never ask a footballer to build you a washing machine"
"That stupid question you've just asked me, did you prepare that at home or did it just come off the top of your head? You must have a natural talent for it"
He's a bit of an Ian Holloway or Gordon Strachan type of guy

Good interview with Paco here. Seems a very 'West Ham's kind of guy:
https://learning.coachesvoice.com/paco- ... o-la-liga/
Also a video here (in Spanish) that you'll want to put auto translated captions on for, but he's pretty much the anti-Potter.

Re: Paco Jemez Martin
I like the cսnt of his jib, but I get the impression this won't end well..
"I'm used to things getting blown out of proportion with me, to people taking things too far, and everything being magnified.
It's a football situation where he tells me to do one thing and I tell him the substitution wasn't bad, but that I would have put someone else.
These are football situations that happen on the pitch, but at no point did I reprimand him or anything. I understand that he's the boss and he brought me here so I could give my opinion and so that, even if he thinks he might do something else, if I'm convinced of something, I'll keep telling him.
Ultimately, he's the one who always makes the final decision, and I'm going to respect what he says, but he brought me to England not to be silent, but to tell him what I think and, above all, to help him."
• Paco Jemez on that touchline spat with Nuno

Re: Paco Jemez Martin
Seems pretty obvious that Paco is not happy with this sub and not putting on others too.
"Why are you doing this Baldy, don't you know what happens when you do this.?"
"Yes you Spanish retard you're doing the dishes with Ward Prowse, adious."
I think Forest winning has done us a favour actually, it's really Leeds we need to catch and be within 2 pts at the end of the season.
Now we have to go for a win against Chelsea and Burnley no matter what Leeds do tonight.
Nuno would go for a point Paco would yell go for 3.
He's going to be the difference.

You always think number 2’s are yes men … think Mervyn Day & Curbishley… dependent on the main guy for employment so a number 2 with views and opinions is a good thing
If he convinces Nuno that putting Kilman on is a mistake he will have earned his money

Re: Paco Jemez Martin
Yes take it over to the kilman thread . . .although i was guilty of chipping in meself. Sorry
Everyone who was looking for a Paolo type to come in, here he is spanish Paolo.
As much as i enjoyed seeing them bickering, i hope this doesnt blow up into a big thing. Nuno will have to be the bigger man here and laugh it off.
I think there are several things that have helped the past couple of games. AWB back, the CB who has his own thread being sidelined, the air cleared with wilson, the 2 new lads, paqueta gone, a reality check after the forest game. And a sprinkle of Paco on top.

I reckon when asked he probably replied "He did alright for me at Wolves" but didn't think the diminutive one would then go and drop £40 million quid on him! With a 7 year contract on 100k a weekWhat makes you think that?
Lopetegui made him club captain at Wolves and then picked him week in week out for us despite his obvious limitations. I'd say EVERYTHING points towards his arrival being a prerequisite for the Spanish idiot
Don't get me wrong I m no fan of Lopetegui at all... he's a very strange fish and is generally disliked in Spain as well so I 'm not defending the bloke at all.
I just can't believe Kilman was that good at Wolves unless the players around him raised his level. He should've known that unless he really doesn't give a shit. Which is quite possible for a bloke who agreed to extend his contract as Spain manager and then signed one with Real Madrid on the eve of the World Cup. The news came out literally the day before the tournament started. Unforgivable but seems to be a recurring trait with some of our managers under our owner.
Lopetegui is now the manager of Qatar.

Re: Paco Jemez Martin
Yeah you gotta say the Kilman signing is horrific. Lopetegui wanted him and it was Sullivan that wanted Lopetegui and insisted on him being appointed ( Steidten, Noble, Kretinsky etc wanting Amourim iirc?). Ok Amourim didnt work out at the Mancs but was in work so a “no no” for Sullivan as it meant compensation and besides he was too young, no PL experience etc. Might not have worked out but we will never know. Point is by using his veto power to get Loppy, Sullivan then felt obliged to back him to make his pick a success knowing everyone else was against it. The cost of Sullivan’s ego / narcissism, incompetence, cluelessness has been very very costly over the last 16 years and lookiing currently like its gonna take us down.

Steidten was here but I am pretty damn sure that Kilman wasn't his pick. He wasn't officially a DOF though was he? Just the bloke who was there to sign the papers and equally share the picks.

Unless your in the club it's hard to say how much influence he's had/having, but he clearly has the ear and respect of Nuno. All considered, he has to be an upgrade on Mark Robson, who looks like a waste of space and completely out of his depth.

I didn't pay £40 million and hand him a 7 year contract on 100,000k a week if he was a rubbish defender. It's not like I have a track record for that sort of thing. If I paid the money it's because he's really, really good and it's up to you to get a tune out of him.
He thinks he is getting a proper soul singer rather than those two fellows who ad-libbed to the actual vocalist who sang on the Milli Vanilli recordsYes very true. Although there is a reason Nuno ain’t picking him. That’s for sure! And he’s had him at two clubs. It’s plain to anyone with eyes and not a ridiculous ego problem that having Kilman on harm our chances of victory.
but the ridiculous ego problem becomes, as you say, all our problem.Nobody rated kilman but inexplicably he kept being selected and didnt miss a game, not a minute. Then suddenly he's been dropped like a sack of shit. Its a massive about turn, so i'd love to know what the tipping point was? The decision has been made to write 40m of 'talent' off. He must be leaving.
Even Stevie Wonder said he was shit.

I feel the tipping point was that Nuno and team were able to get somewhat of a tune out of Todibo and Mav, with both players improving since he tipped up and Kilman has just dropped behind both because he hasn’t improved a jot. And that is on the player. He’s either not willing or not capable. Lop obviously had to play him as it’s his boy, and Potter may not have had the bollocks to drop him, but also Potter couldn’t get anything out of Todibo or Mav either so they were all as bad as each other. The other two are undoubtedly better at this point in time and mesh better as a duo.
And actually I have to say props to Todibo for manning up and getting stuck in in our situation. For a player who seemed flaky under the last two managers a could easily have downed tools like Paqueta he’s done the opposite. Fair play.
