Saturday football

"BRENTFORD vs LIVERPOOL (1230) Brentford have never lost this Premier League fixture. What a magnificent record. But records are there to be broken as this one will be today. Liverpool to cement, for now, their top place. Away win. BURNLEY vs ARSENAL (1500) Woe is Burnley. Relegation appears inevitable, with only the battle with Sheffield Utd for bottom spot to be decided. Away win. FULHAM vs ASTON VILLA (1500) Resolutely mid-table, Fulham seem to have little of substance to play for this season. There’s much to play for, in contrast, for Villa who lie fifth, one point behind Spurs. Away win. NEWCASTLE UNITED vs BOURNEMOUTH (1500) It’s been a disappointing season for the Barcodes, who welcome their manager’s former club to St James Park. The Cherries look to have steered permanently clear of the danger zone thanks to a magnificent turnaround in their fortunes. An away win would be most welcome, but also most unlikely. Home win. NOTTINGHAM FOREST vs WEST HAM UNITED (1500) Forest’s dalliance with the greasy pole has taken them to within two points of Everton. But home form remains, as ever, their most likely means of avoiding the drop. Happily, that drop holds no threat for us, although that greasy pole has been ultra-greased for out benefit of late. All the talk of changing managers will have done little for our confidence or self-esteem. Antonio could return – expect his arrival onto the field in the 65th minute – but this game has probably come too soon for Paqueta. Draw. TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR vs WOLVERHAMPTON WANDERERS (1500) Wolves are no walkover and will test Spurs on their own patch where they’ve been very strong. Expect a tough and entertaining game. Home win. MANCHESTER CITY vs CHELSEA (1730) Have Chelsea turned a corner? Some believe so. But they’re still firmly in mid-table and there’s little to no hope of that improving this evening. Home win. *SUNDAY* SHEFFIELD UNITED vs BRIGHTON & HOVE ALBION (1400) Even the Blades seem resigned to the drop. But they have shown some courage and fight under Chris Wilder. Brighton’s fortunes have taken a turn for the worse in recent weeks, but they still offer formidable opposition. Draw. LUTON TOWN vs MANCHESTER UNITED (1630) This could be a cracker if Luton display the kind of fight and intensity they’re capable of. Not an easy game for the visitors, although they should emerge with all points bagged. Away win. *MONDAY* EVERTON vs CRSYTAL PALACE (2000) Everton are in deep shit. Palace are in shallow shit, but that could deepen significantly this evening depending on the weekend’s other results. A must-win for the Toffees. Home win. *TUESDAY* MANCHESTER CITY vs BRENTFORD (1930) This is effectively City’s game in hand. If they win it, chances are they’ll overtake Liverpool to reclaim top spot. It’s an compelling season at the top of the Premier League. *WEDNESDAY* LIVERPOOL vs LUTON TOWN (1930) Well, here’s Liverpool’s chance to return to the summit. They should do so with ease. Nevertheless, a free hit for the Hatters. Can they do anything with it? Home win. *CHAMPIONSHIP* The Saints won comfortably at West Brom last night and thus reclaimed second place behind Leicester. Chasing them are Leeds who visit Plymouth this afternoon, and Ipswich who travel to Swansea. Competing for the other two play-off places are West Brom, Coventry, Norwich, Hull, Preston and Sunderland who find themselves separated by five points. QPR, Sheff Wed and Rotherham continue to occupy the relegation places. Millwall, who started the season so well, are now immediately above the dotted line having drawn one and lost four of their last five, but have a four point cushion."

Luton having a real go against ManU. Three forwards and an offensive midfield also going forward. This is what I miss from West ham

While the Premiership has Sheffield Utd playing in it. The likes of David Moyes will always be in a job. You can see why Yorkshire teams struggle to maintain Premiership status when they advocate playing that way.?

"Used to have some respect for Wilder, but he’s been an absolute cretin with some of his comments lately. His team are a bunch of prehistoric cloggers, not hard to see why Moyes couldn’t figure out how to beat them."

Brighton 2-0 up. We’re now clinging on to the top half by a point but with the worst GD.

"Some of Moyes comments re a BLIP and our good place have been extraordinary. Have no confidence of a result at Forest who played well v Newcastle though I understand they have lost 6 of their last 7 home games. With a potential FFP points penalty hanging over them they will be desperate for 3 points Brentford have been up and down but cant see them stopping Liverpool. Elsewhere would love to see Arsenal, Spurs & Chelsea lose As usual the Championship is the best league Leicester scooting away , Soton Leeds and Ipswich squabbling over the other automatic spot and 6 or 7 teams chasing the other 2 playoff spots. Plus Millwall sinking towards the relegation zone. And no VAR!"

"I'm desperately hoping for a win here to get over the BLIP! Coffee's draw is the minimum. Most worrying backdrop to the game is Moyes says ""we're in a really good place."" Maybe he was in some new flash shop in the Westfield and that was taken out of context? The rest, agree Liverpool, agree Arse, agree Villa, Jordi's draw, Agree spurs, agree City, Brighton, reluctantly agree ManU, Palace draw for Woy."
